I didn't have to, but I did, because the full weight of critical facts and evidence – which I believe are necessary to make a personal, informed, critical judgment in a life-death case as this – simply aren't available to us, just yet.
But then again, I'm not running for any public office, nor am I overly-concerned, constrained or neutered by any overriding, idiotic public opinion – frankly, I could give a flying rat's rearend – yet I held back any personal opinion, and I still do, on whether either Travon Martin or George Zimmerman is guilty of anything. A Day In The Life
I was up on Good Friday (4/6/12) at 5:15am, with a heavy frost on the ground and only 27°F outside. Murphy needed feeding/watering, the Condo was quite chilly and I was groggy from too many "weird dreams" through the night. My "to-do list" for the Easter Sunday Dinner was prolific, so I had to get moving. I made Breakfast and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee, warmed-up the Jeep, and armed the Condo's Honeywell® Lynx™ Plus® Security System with my handy-dandy Honeywell® Ademco™ 5804 Wireless Key Transmitter. I had to pick-up the If you want to watch one of the very best series of movies ever made, get the "Jesse Stone" 7-Set DVD series, with Tom Selleck. 10-lb, bone-in, HoneyBaked® Ham and run errands all over the area, which I'd been putting-off for the past 2-3 days until I had enough to justify the trip. Plus, Murphy had just start "acting strangely" since late afternoon, so I quickly called the Vet and made an appointment for Monday morning at 8am, since it was Easter Weekend and they were closed. The responding Vet told me to just make him comfortable, keep him well-hydrated and fed, and especially off of highly-elevated places until I could get him into their offices on Monday. I can do that.
I decided to go to "The Cabin" tonight, so I packed-up some selected Gear/Weapons/Equipment ahead of time, for the trip: selected Gear, Weapons & Equipment for my 2-day trip to "The Cabin" – several changes of clothes in my old VietNam-service US Army Duffel Bag, Full-Auto, Class III AR-10® .308cal (7.62 x 51mm NATO), with the new 15½" Barska® 10-36x Zoom w/ 100mm Lens Sniper Scope with Green Mil-Dots and .308cal ammo in the new 20-round magazines, my new Remy® 11-87 Versa®-Max Tactical Semi-Automatic 12ga Shotgun with devastating Federal® 12ga .00 Buck (9 pellets) "FliteControl®" Shells, my Beowulf® .50cal with a newly-fitted Trijicon® TA648-50 6x48 ACOG Scope, and 10 extra 11-round mags for .50cal 335gr rounds, a Single Lens 8 x 20mm Spy Scope, my daily carry-piece, the Kimber® 1911 "Eclipse Target II" .45cal ACP,
I set-up Murphy's 4 dry/wet food & water bowls with plenty of everything, and made sure he'd be okay until I returned very early on Easter Sunday morning. I left for I-83 North, on Friday, March 6th, at 7:30pm. Back from "The Cabin" on Sunday morning at 6:00am, to a chilly 41°F, I disarmed the Condo, fed & watered Murphy, If I didn't invent "The Virtual Cabin" to escape to when I needed it, I'd have gone remedial over a year ago, with all the burdens the lousy economy and political traitors in DC have foisted upon me and my now-closed Business. Although "virtual" when I'm there, it's "real" to me and I "come back" refreshed and ready for another week in the so-called "real world". checked him carefully, unloaded the Jeep, grabbed a shower and some fresh clothes, and began my prep for Easter Dinner. My Sister, Becky, called at 11:30am to wish me a Happy Easter and to tell me that Mom wasn't feeling well and Mom & Dad might not be over, after all. I shut things down and scaled-back my prep, although the HoneyBaked Ham was still warming-up in the 200°F oven. But they did show-up, while I was calling their home to check, so I ramped-up the prep again, and got it all ready. Dad showed me another article in Sunday's newspaper which mentioned me/my Business and the tough economy (ignore the comments section below the article; I don't know what-the-heck that garbage pertains to). And Murphy had recovered 100% from the mysterious Friday "episode", so I canceled the Vet's appointment; no sense in stressing-out a 17-year old cat with an office session if he didn't need it. I listened to the "Dave Ramsey Show" from 5-7pm EST and the "Laura Ingram Show" from 7-9pm EST, and called it a day.
On Monday, I was up at 4:30am, fed & watered Murphy, and went back to sleep until 6:30. I had a lot of meetings and errands spread-out over the next 3 days, so I had to get moving to get some of it done today so it wouldn't all pile-up on Wednesday, which was a full day, in and of itself. After a hearty Breakfast and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee, there If you live long enough, you have regrets, and the ones that "nag" at you the most, are the ones where you knew you had a choice. The very same ones where you knew you could have stopped yourself; the very same ones where you looked into a mirror, and everything good inside yourself said, "Don't do this". was several loads of laundry, fresh bed linens & spreads, a trip to Mom & Dad's to drop-off some corporate files, then to Batteries Plus to pick-up 3 difficult-to-find, back-ordered rechargeable battery packs (from all of these other options) for my "ancient" but trusty Kodak® Easy-Share® DX3900 Digital Camera, then to Weis® Market in East York to get my postponed food shopping done, next to Staples® for printer paper, and over to Bed, Bath & Beyond® to look at some of their kitchenwares on advertised sale, and down to PNC Bank® to make several deposits, and finally home to unload. I caught the last 2hrs of "Rush", then listened to 3hrs of "Mark Levin Replays" – I avoid the "Sean Hannity Twitter Fiasco" at all costs – until the "Mark Levin Show" live stream came on, from 6-9pm EST. While listening, I worked on revising the Condo's Monthly Budget, due to rising expenses and costs of numerous items. I made it to 9:30 and called it quits.
Another dream-filled night, causing me to wake-up at 11:45pm and at 2:30am, but at least they weren't "too weird", as in past I have seen things, few people would understand or believe – a young mother cat suckling her newborn kittens, violent tornadoes & hurricanes up-close and personal, whole hummingbird families in their tiny nests, Spring grass blades poking through a fresh "onion snow", active volcanoes on Hawaii, a Space Shuttle launch which exploded on take-off – all those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain, when I die. nights. I was up again at 4:30, fed & watered Murphy, turned-up the heat, made some Fresh-Squeezed OJ w/ lots of pulp, logged-on and checked the
Back up for good at 6am, I made more OJ, Quaker Oats® Raisin & Spice Oatmeal with Fresh-Grated Cinnamon, Sunnyside-up Eggs & Toast, Bacon and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee (from whole, freshly-ground beans) with my Chemex® Drip System. I got a call from Keith, my personal/corporate CPA, that "Mother Nature's In Charge; We're Just Along For The Ride." – John D.M. Shelley II, pre-1996 my 2011 Tax Returns were ready, so I drove to his offices, signed them for his office to E-File – a very hefty refund coming, sadly due to my Sub-S Corp closing/losses/donations – paid the invoice, got my file copies and did several of tomorrow's errands today, so Wednesday wouldn't be so hectic. At 45°F and dropping rapidly, it was getting chilly and tomorrow was forecast to be rainy and only a high of 46°F. The rest of the day was a breeze, and after a few hours reading "Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America", and listening to the Mark Levin Show from 6-9pm, I called it a day around 9:30pm.
Although I had the Condo heat set at 65°F for the night, it felt a lot colder inside even with the furnace running. I got up at 4am, donned my über-warm Turkish Bathrobe, turned-up the Condo heat to 76°F right away, fed & watered Murphy, checked the weather forecast on National Weather Service and, , it was snowing in western
Even at 76°F, the Condo seemed chilly, so I cranked-up the heat to 78°F, made more Fresh-Squeezed OJ, Grits w/ Butter & Sea Salt, Hash Browns/Fries, Scrambled Eggs, Rye Bread Toast w/ Keller's® Butter and French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee. I left at 9am to get to the drycleaners and then to my 10am meeting at the GC&N Complex. The neighboring farmer who farms my back 6ac asked about my selling price for that separate parcel, instead of including it in the 20ac property sale, so I called my realtor to discuss it with him. Meanwhile the City of York's Parks & Recreation Dept personnel showed-up for the now-postponed 10:30am meeting, and the 5 of us spent 2hrs walking all 98 rows of remaining B&B trees and shrubs, evaluating them, tagging and recording each for a letter they'd need to write to request a corporate donation from me, for 2012. I had paperwork for the farmer, to protect his current 6ac crop after the pending property sale, and the City of York, as well, for the numerous items they'd selected. All items will be safeguarded for each person to dig and remove after the sale. It's a lot of extra paperwork for me, but it's necessary. Holy crap, it's SNOWING down here!
When I left the Complex, snow squalls were moving through the area, and a massive one hit the Red Lion-Winterstown area just as I was headed north on Rt 24. It was snowing/sleeting so hard that I could only see 25-30ft
I completed the farmer's guarantee letter and began work on the City's letter of donation request. My realtor advised me that the pending buyer was very close to making a formal offer/counter-offer on my price, next Tuesday, and that I should hurry all of these paperwork projects along, so they can be included in the Bill of Sale, for the 20ac property, buildings and infrastructure. That got me moving. I also finished the City's 2-page list/letter, printed their envelopes and applied my custom Stamps.com GC&N postage
I took a short break for lunch at 3pm, and made a Roast Beef, Cheese & Tomato Sandwich with chips and Ocean Spray® Diet Blueberry-Pomegranate Juice. I needed that. And Murphy needed more water, too. And the snow squalls continued, even at 48°F. Imagine that. I caught the Mark Levin Show from 6-9pm, and called it quits around 9:30pm.
Wow, no weird dreams overnight and I slept right through until 6am on Thursday; good on me, for a change. I decided to get an 8am haircut at Walt's Barber Shop in Red Lion. Dad's 87th Birthday is April 17th, so I used MS-Publisher to make him one of my famous "custom cards", from "John & Pickle's Little Card Company, Felton, PA", now changed to "John & Murphy's Little Card Co, East York, Pa". Heh. I got ready and left at 7:30 so I'd be first-in/first-out, when Walt opened at 7:45am. I just did my daily check on my BP/Pulse with my handy-dandy Omron HEM-609 Monitor, which I've had for 10yrs: BP-116/83, P-69. Nice! Amazing what the 85-lbs weight loss did for me, not to mention totallt erase my L-5 Vertebrae pain and Sciatica problems. I did C drive back-ups to my external Western Digital® 2Tb Back-Up HD, some much-needed "serious housekeeping" on both the C & E drives, and uninstalled/reinstalled my trusty "old" HP 1660 DeskJet Printer with newly-updated drivers (always best to uninstall everything instead of installing new drivers and utility software over top of older versions). I made a quick Egg & Olive Salad Sandwich for a snack, listened to the Mark Levin Show (surprise!) from 6-9pm EST. Time for sleep; Friday's another day. C'mon, Murphy!
