there are still several times in every day, at which I get that glassy-eyed stare, shake my head and wonder, "How did this happen? Did we really do this to ourselves, our Nation and our children's future?" I'm referring, of course, to electing an outright socialist, Marxist and racist piece-of-shit, to the US Presidency. My own personal sense of disbelief is sometimes overwhelming.
Back on November 4th, 2008, as I stood in line to vote, I was a little worried that the day's race between RINO John McCain and "Messiah" Barack Obama, would be close but that McCain would prevail, and that our Constitutional Republic would remain intact and continue bumpily-on as it had, for the past 232 years. I scanned each person in line, both in front of and behind me, as well as those coming out of the North Sherman St Firehall, after having voted. No one wore any campaign buttons or hats, as that's illegal at a voting station. I assumed most were Republicans. And yet there were indeed "Obama" bumper stickers on cars in the parking lot.
Not being a TV-watcher anymore, I missed the fawning adulation which NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX and the print media constantly showered on to Obama, and how they basically ignored McCain. I read about it daily on several Conservative political websites, which I frequent all too often. And I did see the carefully-cropped press shots of the huge events Obama made appearances at, though they were almost all ongoing events, and he was just there to give a 15-20min speech, and be photographed in front of the large concert-going crowds. No matter; McCain would pull it out.
I rejoiced when Alaska Gov Sarah Palin was chosen as McCain's running mate; at long last, here was a solid Conservative woman with real honesty and brass on the weak GOP-RINO ticket, which I could now finally get behind and become enthusiastic about. Even my 85 year old Mother, who hadn't voted in 20+ years, voted for Sarah, this time. This was the clincher, I thought.
I was tired and went to sleep early on Tuesday evening, Nov 4th, around 9pm as many of the last polls were closing, early results came in showing things to be pretty even. I can remember thinking to myself that it'll probably a "squeaker", but the Conservative Base would show-up in far greater numbers if, for nothing else, than to keep that racist, lowlife liberal-demokkkRAT with no experience whatsoever, from winning and out of The White House, where he could do real and permanent damage to America.
Little did I know this would be a "Bob Dole redux", á la 1996.
To say I was stunned at the election results on Wednesday morning, would have been an understatement. I was in a daze for several days. Disbelief, denial, depression. The "fog & haze" stuck with me for weeks. When I finally came out of it, I saw what was coming: totalitarianism via socialism.

There will be no going back to before the corrupt moneyed political process began, without violent revolution. Evolution is no longer an option. Evolution got us to where we are today. It will revolution to get us back to where we should be. The system is inextricably broken — the notion of Checks & Balances is now virtually nullified — and will fight anyone trying to effect repairs.
Almost 67 million people wanted "government-given stuff", and now they are getting it. Mega-bailouts. They will soon find out the true cost of their new "stuff", to their deep discomfiture. It will soon get very ugly when they realize what their avarice has now brought upon their children's' future.
Does the "intent" of the Founding Fathers even matter, anymore? Apparently not, judging by the way the piggies in the US Congress are feeding at the public teat, or money-filled trough of the US Taxpayer. "Intent" doesn't even matter anymore.
The stock market is at April 11, 1997 levels: 7114.78, and poised to break into 6,000 numbers very soon. My IRA and investments have lost 40-50%, and many people are in far worse shape. Yes, the "wonderful ride called America" is coming to an end, I'm afraid.
So what's left for those of us who revere our hallowed Constitutional Principles and what it all means? That's not for me to postulate, about you or anyone else. I can only say what it means to me. And that is for just too many years, our Constitution has been distorted, spun, twisted, mutilated, bent and re-worked to benefit those who don't contribute to our societal compact. Our individual states have lost much of their sovereignty and the Constitutionally-guaranteed power of the people of those individual states. If the above doesn't work, then it is our duty, as written in the Declaration of Independence to "... it is the right of the People to alter or abolish it (the government), and to institute new government ..." We have long experienced our basic rights eroded by self-serving politicians and bureaucrats.

I've been working, in my new Office Chair, my way through the myriad files of forms, hand-outs and a hundred other pieces of paper we use at the GC&N Complex, on a daily basis. These are "forms" I developed over the years, because when I founded and opened my business in March 1991, no such things existed. There was no Staples, no OfficeMax and no one had ever published a compilation of "Things A Small (SubChapter 'S' Corp) Business — Large Garden Center & Nursery Category — would need to conduct day-to-day business: Customer Registration & Requests Form; Employee Weekly LSCP Job Timesheet; Mulch/Topsoil/Plant Delivery & Installation Form; Customer Pick-Up Form; Customized Employment Form; LSCP Estimate & Billing Templates (MS-Works/ Excel Spreadsheets); Customer Information Sheets on a hundred-plus different topics; Tree Installation Pricing Sheets; Delivery Charges Form; Customer Purchase/ Pick-List Forms; Greenhouse Watering Schedule Form; Employment Handbook & Agreement Form, et al. When I started getting ready to enter this industry, in 1989, I searched and there was NO ESTIMATING/BILLING SOFTWARE, anywhere to be had. I had to "invent my own", just to get started.
Our faux-Winter of 2009 continues, with the occasional snow squall, intermittent cold temps, accompanying nasty windchill, occasional rains, lengthening days/ shortening nights, and the most obvious: a complete lack of snow anywhere. In my 19yrs here, I can't remember a more "devoid-of-snow Winter", than this one. Coinciding with that lack of snow, is the inevitable dry (down 6"-plus) ground, which we'll have to deal with, in the Spring when planting occurs by our customers and by my LSCP Crews. I truly thought that by now, we'd have gotten "hammered" by a once-a-season-blizzard, as has been the case in past years, and like what just happened to Maine. Hmmm, that's the one that missed us, once again. But the paucity of snow is simply jet stream-related, and it doesn't show any signs of changing soon. Okay, okay, I know I'm whining, but I like the snow. 'Nuff said.
The office toilet quit working — yeah, I'm going *there* — last week, so I plunged it, and plunged it, and plunged it manually, but it did nothing. I called WWGemmill Heating-Plumbing-HVAC in Stewartstown (PA), and they couldn't get it "cleared". Next, I called Dale Miller Septic in Fawn Grove (PA), and they pumped-out 1,000gals and the driver "snaked-out" thru the tank, the 4"dia pipe with a 12-18" "blockage" of paper towels/toilet paper. Yikes! Now it flushes and the sink doesn't back-up. Hoo-rah! I gave the driver and extra $35 for saving me the $100 for a plumber recall. He was grateful for the extra cash, and so was I, for what he did for me. America is made-up of those "thank you moments", IMO.

I brought-up my old Sears humidifier from basement storage, and turned-it-on, to humidify my 2,850 SqFt condo. That didn't work very well. One of my two 19yr-old, $1,399 LPG-gas-fed Modine forced-air heaters, which heat the Main Retail Building, "quit working" on Wednesday, so I switched-over the thermostats to the identical rear heater, which easily heats the Main Retail Bldg. I thought that maybe the pilot light had been blown-out by the viscous winds on Tuesday, so we tried re-lighting it, but it was still lit. The burners just weren't getting any gas from the pilot light. Damn! I'll be calling WWGemmill Heating-Plumbing-HVAC in Stewartstown (PA), on Monday, to see if they can repair that 19 year-old unit. Think I got my money's worth in it?.
Saturday was a fine day for just getting outside and taking a 15-20min walk, which I did several times around the 20ac GC&N Complex, during the day. With a sunny, fairly-warm 41°F day and just a mild breeze, I had "company" on my short walks from several long-time customers, who'd stopped by to talk about tree installation, special orders and landscape projects for Spring. I swept floors, cleaned the toilet and sink, emptied garbage, wiped the front counters, did paperwork, worked on weekly schedules, etc. I took a pile of paperwork home, and worked on it in NoteTabPro, since I don't have MS-Office yet installed on the condo machine, and tired of it all by 11:30pm. Sleep felt good.
On Sunday morning, the forecasted 2-3hrs of light, with >1" of snow showed-up in a fast-moving storm, but with outdoor temps of 33-35°F, nothing stuck. I am thankful for the ground moisture, though; it's dry down below 8-10", where most plants' root systems live. I slept-in late, made coffee and poached eggs-in-a-bowl w/ bread, lit a fire, worked on some correspondence and other paperwork, did laundry and other mundane condo stuff and went food shopping around 2pm. The bulk of the light snow was over by 12noon, and just wet the roads. So much for our "ongoing Winter".
On my food shopping trip, among other stuff, I bought 3lbs of fresh, locally-grown, Brussel Sprouts, packaged in 1-lb packs. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I immediately steamed-up 1-lb of those beauties, and enjoyed them, with butter/salt/pepper. Life is good. Hoo-rah! I'll be going back to WEIS Markets in York (PA), to get more packages. I still can't figure out why people malign these wonderful, cruciferous vegetables, like they do.
Monday was another day, whose "felt cold" belied the outdoor temperature. With temps only getting to 27°F, and with a 30-35mph wind, the windchill was down to 8-9°F. Not nice. With one of the two 60,000 BTU Modine heaters down in the Main Retail Bldg, It took much longer than usual for the building to "come up to temperature", and although I have a 20,000 BTU heater in my 15' x 25' office, the lack of that other major gas-fed, forced-air unit makes the other two work much harder to achieve the same results. I have an HVAC guy coming in on Wednesday to service it.
On the way into work on Tuesday, I stopped to watch the crews and an 500ft (extended) crane lift the last 2 100ft sections of a new AT&T cell phone tower into place, and then the massive antennae, while two other workers with full climbing rigs and tools, secured each section to the one below it. It was 17°F at 8:15am, with a 25-30mph wind, so it was easily below zero windchill at the top of that massive structure. They were dressed for it; I saw them "prepping" on the ground before their ascent. I watched on Monday morning while they set the first 2 100ft sections into a massive base structure, which they'd excavated, poured and constructed over the past two weeks. It was an amazing 2hrs.
Last week, after the partnership announcement of Brown's Market & Orchards and Shiloh Nurseries' defunct garden center operation, I decided that I need a new business model. I think what they did to combine resources and talents, was a brilliant strategic move and a natural "business fit". And It's got me now looking around for "something on the same order". I don't know what "it" is, but I'm looking for it. How about a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on my 20ac site? I like it!
Ahhh, it's that time of the Winter again: the York Flower Show. IMO, it was once a fairly good show, back in the mid-90s-to-2002, and then it went to hell. I quit it in 2003; now, they're selling pots and pans, incense, and other assorted trash, garbage, crap, shit and junk, IMO. Too damned bad it all went to crap, IMO.
Damn (me); I did it again on Wednesday evening: ate another 1-lb of fresh-picked, local Brussel Sprouts, steamed-tender, bright green and slathered with butter, salt & pepper. Darnit! I wanted to take them into work on Thursday, and enjoy them with (an Allen Bros) 10oz Filet Mignon, accompanied by Black Winter Truffle Butter, for lunch. Drat.
Yikes! 5 downloads of Norton-Symantec's Live Update, on Wednesday alone. There must really be "something" going on! My office machine and the two front counter units are set to "automatic download & install", so I rarely see them going through these machinations, but I prefer to have LiveUpdate tell me what it's doing to my super-fast home unit.
My LSCP Designer, James, sent raw data to me in MS-Works format, via email attachments, for 5 new LSCP Estimates, and I had those completed and in the mail within 3hrs. I also made a couple of site visits, resulting from calls over the Winter months, for tree moving and various other transplants. That kind of work needs to be done before the plant(s) "leaf-out", and while they're still dormant.
I had some medical lab work to get done on Thursday morning, at Apple Medical Center's Lab, and made two LSCP site visits on the way back to my office. I spent 45mins scrubbing the bathroom's badly-stained (from red clay silt in the well water) sink and toilet bowl, with Comet Cleanser. The landscaping and gardening-related calls are picking-up now, with people responding to the 45-55°F temps, and as much as I'm enjoying the newfound outside warmth, I'm continuing to warm each caller that "Winter's a long way from being over". Don't get too excited about the premature weather, just yet. We've been *hammered* in March numerous times, over the past 19 years, by both snow and ice storms. If we get to the last week in March, then I'll relent and break-out the t-shirts and sun-block. But not yet.

You may already have Century Gothic on your Windows-XP machine, and that's almost always used for the body copy or subheads, so grab it, if you don't already have it; you're reading it now. They're free from my website. Grab 'em! Save them to your HD, and install to C:/Windows/Fonts (folder), thru your WIN XP Control Panel > Fonts > File > Install New Font. Simple stuff; just takes a few minutes.
Here are a few others, which have been used in my Journal: Papyrus and Acoustic Bass, and Caesar Regular and Carleton and Charrington Strewn and Catherine. Shit-for-brains, mentally-ill, fat, bloated liar, AlGoreBore's (LOWLIFE-TN) "ally", in NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which is run by AlGoreBore's chief scientific ally/"asshole/butt-buddy"— Dr James "Moron-Cretin-Asshole" Hansen (DIRTBAG-NASA) — and is one of four bodies responsible for monitoring global temperatures, announced that "last month was the hottest October on record". Total, factual bullshit and lies. This was startling. Across the world there were reports of unseasonal snow and plummeting temperatures last month, from the American Great Plains to China, and from the Alps to New Zealand. China's official news agency reported that Tibet had suffered its "worst snowstorm ever". In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years. So what explained the anomaly? GISS's computerized temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal. But when expert readers of the two leading warming-skeptic blogs, Watts Up With That and Climate Audit, began detailed analysis of the GISS data they made an astonishing discovery. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running.
