According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a racist is someone who believes "all members of each racial group possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially to distinguish it as being either superior or inferior to another racial group or racial groups." When Sgt. Crowley investigated a possible burglary at Prof. Gates' Cambridge home this week, Gates met a white cop at his door and evidently assumed Crowley was a bad cop, a rogue, a racist cop who would treat him differently than any other suspected perp, just because he was black. That's racism, folks! What did Gates do when faced with a police officer investigating a burglary in his home? Was Gates polite and courteous to the cop? Did he cooperate and step onto the porch out of the darkened home so Crowley could see his face and ID? Did he calmly explain why a passerby saw him breaking in, if, in fact, it was his own house? Did he speak or act like the esteemed scholar and professor his ID claimed him to be?
Nope. He was belligerent, accusatory, uncooperative, irrational and defamatory, throwing racial slurs at the white officer, even insulting the cop's mother (as in, "Yo momma is so..."). If ever a man did NOT act with Harvard professorial dignity and decorum, if ever a black man acted like a thug from the hood, Gates did. Is it any wonder Officer Crowley asked for more ID, one that actually listed that house as his address, or asked for another person to corroborate Gates' identity? I would, wouldn't you?
And when Gates refused, and became so incensed and insulting to the Sergeant who was there to protect his property that a crowd grew around his house, was Crowley supposed to allow this kind of behavior, just because Gates was black? No. He arrested Gates for disorderly conduct, as he was trained to do. Last time I checked, police arrest people regardless of race when they act like crazy people in the presence of peace officers.
So why is President [Sambo B. Hussein] Obama[-Rama-Lama-Ding-Dong (NIGGA-IL)] a racist? Because he, like his friend Gates, automatically assumed the white police officer "acted stupidly." BO assumed it was the white officer's fault, because, of course, we all know white cops are racist, right? And later, when he slightly retracted his statement, he still felt the need to say, "It would have been better if cooler heads had prevailed." By now he knew the facts, that his friend Gates had lost his mind and acted like a fool, but he assumed that Sgt. Crowley similarly lost it and "got all up" in Gates' face, because, of course, that's what all white cops do.
But this white cop didn't, because he's not just any cop, he is an expert at managing racial incidents just like this one became, because of Gates' racism. Friends and fellow officers of all races say Sgt. James Crowley is calm and reliable in situations racially hostile situs, because he was hand-picked by a black police commissioner to teach recruits how to avoid racial profiling, and Crowley has apparently been doing a stellar job at it for 5 years.
But Gates and our esteemed President [Sambo B. Hussein] Obama[-Rama-Lama-Ding-Dong (NIGGA-IL)] didn't know that, did they?
So, who are the racists in this story? Gates accused a decent, decorated, above-reproach police officer of being a racist rogue cop, just because he was white. What did our esteemed "black" president, [aka President Sambo B. Hussein Obama-Rama-Lama-Ding-Dong (NIGGA-IL),] do? He immediately took Gates' side, because he's a friend and black! Um, Mr. President, I thought you were going to help erase the racial lines that divide us? Shame on you for taking sides on something you admitted you knew nothing about, for commenting nationally on a small, local issue well beneath your pay grade, and for showing us all that you are not that different that the racist Gates who believes all white cops are bad cops, just because of their skin color.

Friday was a "catch-up day", after having Thursday off. Piles of messages to return, payroll to do, appointments for marketing-advertising meetings to make, under tight deadline. Adv-marketing copy to complete. Several large LSCP Estimates-Hardscape Contracts to work-on, finish-up and mail-out. Lots to do, lots to do, lots to do. Typical day-off after scenario. The weather also sucked, with temps at 89°F and humidity at 79%. The bright spot was that we got almost 3" of much-needed rainfall, from Thursday morning through early Friday morning.
After a short hiatus from Windows 7 RC, I'm back to using it every evening, again. With the October 22nd Win-7 public release date looming, I've already bought 3 copies of Win-7 at $99 each, so I'm ready-to-go to install my home and office units with Win-7, and with 1 copy to spare (want it at a 'good price'?). I'm stockpiling my XP-compliant software, their release codes and any ready to re-install the software apps on Windows 7, after I ditch Win-XP. 90%+ will run on Win-7.
On the way home Friday afternoon, I drove through some ferocious downpours, with 4-8" of water on the road. Lots of stuck cars, trucks, SUVs etc, while I easily-motored-on through the deep water. Jeeps rule. Nissan, Hummer, Dodge, Ford, Chevy, KIA all suck, IMO. Sit for 2-3hrs and dry-out, and maybe you'll re-start with AAA. By 7:50pm, all the nasty weather had moved offshore, and all we were left with *Flood Warnings* for the net 4-6hrs. NBD, unless you're stupid enough to live in a Flood Plain. I crashed around 9pm, exhausted from the HICPA Contracts/ LSCP Estimates and the unending, multitude of ignorant-stupid customer encounters of the day. (sigh)
Saturday was miserable: 84% humidity and 85°F, for a 'heat index' of 88°F. It was a mildly-busy retail day, but with hundreds and hundreds of 'yard', 'garage' sales', BBQs and the like, the roads both north and south of my 20-ac Complex were almost impassible. I had over a dozen customers calling on both Thursday and Friday, asking if "that Rinely hellhole yard sale crap was going on this weekend". They apologized for not coming by this weekend, but said they'd wait until next weekend, when all that low-class trash is over with. I can't blame them.
I closed around 4:20pm, as another line of violent T-storms was fast-approaching us from the west. By 4:45pm, *Severe Storm Watches* had been posted on all the weather stations and they hit around 7:30pm, with more rain following through the night and into Sunday morning. I was up at 6am to water and feed the cats, and it was still raining. *Flash Flood Warnings* were once again posted on those same stations. Oh well, back to sleep until 11 or so. I shaved, showered, dressed and went out to errands, food shopping, get a new Kohler shower head for the upstairs bathroom shower, installed it, WUNDEBAR!! I started on Jericho's 1-23 episodes, and got through a bunch of, by 9pm.
*Flash Flood Warnings* continue to be posted on an almost hourly bases, these days. Just damn. Here's just a few of the slideshows of the local mess and destruction, in York and surrounding counties. Fortunately, both my condo and business are on very high ground, and flooding isn't a problem.
Monday and Tuesday were "Groundhog Days", and we're now in the July-August-September "Drought Cycle From Hell". Texas has it 50x worse than we do, right now, and the Pacific Northwest is "baking in the heat". Am I the only one who has GH Days? Anyone else?
Of all the new pieces of software — with the exception of the new Windows 7 O/S— www.Stamps.com is the slickest I used this year. With all the mailings Dad & I are doing in-house, and all the LSCP Proposals James & I are sending out on a weekly basis, the free 5-lb digital scale comes in very handy, plus the free $20 in postage as a new subscriber. I've installed it on one of the front counter computers and, of course, my office machine. It does use-up color/ b&w ink cartridges, pretty quickly, if you're doing "custom labels". Otherwise, it's negligible.
I took Wednesday off, for a change, and slept-in until 12. I had about 4-5 errands to get done, and a "personal/business burn to get over", from a customer's lying, two-faced wife. They're a US Military Family, whom I've done innumerable 'freebies" for over the years, treated them well, given them extra discounts and she lied to me about giving my company a $35k+ stacked boulder wall job vs a concrete techno-block crap-garbage, on their job site. We did all the 'strategic thinking' and a sub-standard company, S**********, will get the work, because it's cheap, commercial, sterile and crappy-looking. Any mentally-ill, lowlife dirtbag company can install those shitty systems; only a true artist can install good-looking, stacked-stone and stacked-boulder walls. That US Military Family will get what they pay for, I guarantee it. So sad. No, this one incident doesn't and hasn't dampened my respect for and love for our US Military Families, whether active or not. I'll continue to "honor their service to Service", despite this one US Army SSGT's (GITMO) bitch wife's deception and lies. Okay, enough on this matter.
No, I don't want to work into my Golden Years; I want to drop face-down dead, in my morning Cheerios, at around 65-67 years old, thankyouverymuch.
I got so sick of what's going on in the so-called news and other problems, that I reverted to "Jericho", for the afternoon and evening, to evade reality. To the Future, RIP.
My Dad's Enshrinement In "The Court of Valor".
As soon as I heard the radio ad, I knew that my Dad was one of "The Greatest Generation" who should be there, "In The Court of Valor". After all, my VietNam Generation had "The Wall" in DC, but something else was needed for those "Men of Valor", whom my Dad was among the elite who saved America. So I nominated him, ASAP.
His legendary Battle-of-The-Bulge history as a part of Patton's 3rd Armored Division, 101st Airborne jumps behind enemy lines, 16th Yankee Division Combat Engineers, legendary "Red Ball Express", defense of Bastogne ("band of brothers" and "nuts!") etc, make him a *national keepsake* for that 'court of valor', of the 'greatest generation'.
Dad (Platoon Sgt) saved numerous enlisted men and officers from withering enemy fire, and was himself grievously-wounded by a Nazi sniper. His Purple Heart, Bronze Star for Valor and Good Conduct Medals attest to that bravery.
The cemetery's response to my query was quick and positive: we want to interview him and include him in "The Court of Valor". They did the interview on Thursday, with all his documents and papers, and he'll be notified shortly.

Over the past 19 years, I've met many hundreds of friends and customers who are in good health, their spouses/partners are also in good health, their parents and in-laws in good heath. All active, and with tales to tell of positive derring-do.
With 1-2 years, I re-run into those friends and customers, and everything's changed, usually for the worst. People develop sickness, infirmities and disease, and they begin the 'degradation process'. Life comes at you fast. I listen to the stories, with great empathy and sympathy. They drop-off one-by-one, two-by-two, and leave a void in the lives of those they touched.
All too soon, after 18-19 years, those friends and customers are crippled with knee & hip replacements, bypasses, melanoma and a host of other normal maladies.
A new generation — my old friends' sons and daughters — are becoming my customers. The "guard is changing". It's taken me several years to realize and recognize this factoid. I'm already at 60 and watching the "guard change", and it pains me, no end. But it's life, and once again, it comes at you fast!
I'm used to it.

Many Journal entries are best viewed in the Charrington Roughened and the Orlando typefaces. You may already have Century Gothic on your Windows-XP machine, and that's almost always used for the body copy or subheads, so grab it, if you don't already have it; you're reading it now. They're free from my website. Grab 'em! Save them to your HD, and install to C:/Windows/Fonts (folder), thru your WIN XP Control Panel > Fonts > File > Install New Font. Simple stuff; just takes a few minutes.
Here are a few others, which have been used in my Journal: Papyrus and Acoustic Bass, and Caesar Regular and Carleton and Charrington Strewn and Catherine. In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years. So what explained the anomaly? GISS's computerized temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal. But when expert readers of the two leading warming-skeptic blogs, Watts Up With That and Climate Audit, began detailed analysis of the GISS data they made an astonishing discovery. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running. The introduction and technical background provide a rundown of how the camera was altered to take the pictures and withstand its mission. I particularly liked the description of "big moment no. 1": "Big moment no. 1: attach the collar with the camera to the cat. The reaction was not very happy, but finally accepted.
