It wouldn't be so bad if all the Conservative Radio Talk Show hosts didn't go on vacation at the same time, but they're all bailing-out this week and next. Limbaugh was gone all last week. Savage took off on Thursday. Hannity is out of town next week, as is local host, Gary Sutton. The fill-ins try to do a yeoman's job of keeping 3 hours lively and informative, but they tend to over-populate the shows with callers, of all stripes. I mainly listen to the individual philosophy of the main hosts, dissecting the issues of the day or year. What I'm realizing is that I'm in a "radio rut". I get accustomed to their patterns, styles and mannerisms. I really need to get away from all Talk Radio for a while, and get back to some oldies or classical stations, for a change. I think I will, for the next 2-3 weeks, at least.

Gaaaawd, it's that time of year again: yard and garage sales, everywhere. And I do mean, everywhere. Clogged streets, double-parked cars blocking roads, people darting out between cars into traffic, carrying their little "treasures". One man's ceiling is another man's floor. Yuk.
With temps in the upper 90s, and a heat index of 94°F, it was an uncomfortable week for everyone, in this area. My landscape crews were suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration, so I ordered extra water coolers and bottles of salt pills on all trucks. It's only mid-June and shouldn't be this hot; this is August-September weather, IMO.

Thunderstorms blew through all last and this week, but the few hailstorms we got some pea-sized, and it did damage to plant material; shredding leaves. No biggie; they'll re-grow and be fine.
I took off Wednesday and went target shooting with Lee, at our new shooting club, WSSA, just 25mins north of York, PA. Lee took his new AR-10 (.308cal) and I brought along my Class III AR-15 (.223cal); first time I've been shooting since last December. I have several AR-15s, an AR-10, .50cal, and an awesome 12ga tactical riot shotgun, Kimbers and Glocks. It was a new range for us, hot and muggy, and we sighted-in both weapons. Aftewards, we stopped at Culhane's Steak House for some 10 oz filet mignons, steak fries and a couple of cold beers, and then back to work by 3pm. I enjoyed the respite from the daily tedium.
