some weeks are eventful, others boring. But only a few in the political world are like the one that just ended – full of stupid.
It started with Donald Trump taking a break – not from the campaign trail but from condemning David Duke and Ku Klux Klan. He’d done it plenty of times in the past, yet for some reason he couldn’t bring himself to do it Sunday morning with Jake Tapper.
After repeating the question back to Tapper, Trump passed, fearing the prospect of condemning groups that might not deserve it. All Tapper said to identify them was that they were white supremacist groups. They could be running soup kitchens, building playgrounds or helping the elderly, Trump must have thought. Who cares? They are white supremacists. Just condemn them.
Fox News host and Trump lapdog Sean Hannity exasperatedly asked, “How many times does he (Trump) have to condemn David Duke and the KKK?” The answer is simple: EVERY DAMN TIME!
It’s not a hard rule to follow: Racism is bad. Doesn’t matter where it is, or who is doing it. It’s evil. No one is confused over what white supremacist groups such as the KKK stand for. They aren’t known for burning crosses and terrorizing people while growing community gardens and holding charity spaghetti dinners. And even if they did, THEY’RE STILL THE KU KLUX KLAN!
This isn’t difficult…or at least shouldn’t be.
It also shouldn’t be difficult to tell the truth, unless it will incriminate you. Hillary Clinton is relearning this.
Bryan Pagliano, the ex-Hillary staffer who set up Hillary’s secret server, had exercised his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in the investigation into why she bypassed security measures and stored her server with Harry Potter under the stairs. The creator of the “Harry Potter server” has been granted immunity by the Department of Justice, which means he now must tell his story and answer their questions. What he says cannot be held against him…as long as it’s the truth.
Getting the truth from Clinton associates has proven problematic in the past, but Pagliano has to tell it to stay out of prison. Even if he confesses to personally conceiving of the idea and lying to Hillary about the security, she should have known better. She was the boss and the one with the responsibility.
The coming months offer the potential for much fun.

We can all now say we lived in a time when penis jokes were part of a presidential debate. Although not exactly a “There you go again” or “You’re no Jack Kennedy” moment, an exchange between Trump and Marco Rubio led to what will become our next great debate quote; the “I guarantee you there's no problem. I guarantee.”
Just when you thought a race featuring a leading candidate under multiple federal investigations and another who’s an avowed socialist couldn’t sink any deeper into the weird… the Showtime reality series documenting this race is called “The Circus”. Perhaps it should be renamed “Keeping Up With Candidateshians.”
I’m not yet a parent, so d-ck jokes on TV don’t bother me. What does is the country becoming a Dean Martin Celebrity Roast crossed with a prolonged season of Survivor. Not because the content offends me, but because the last person standing is going to be our next president.
In 2016, American voters may be forced to choose between Bonnie Parker, Leon Trotsky or Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
There’s something to be said for Bonnie and Trotsky. They’re awful, but at least you know where you stand with either of them. Triumph, on the other hand, is a wild card who can treat you like a fire hydrant for simply asking a question.
Ultimately the media is to blame for the wide acceptance of these stupidities. People only know what they are told. In 2012 they turned a good and decent man into someone who burned money while his employees’ wives died; tortured his dog and had elevators in his home for his cars. Think what you will of his politics and polices, and they had their shortcomings, but they made Mitt Romney into a caricature of a human being.
It wasn’t the first time, and it won’t be the last. But this time, the media lost our confidence. Remember the mocking tone of their reporting on Romney’s correctly citing Russia as our No.1 geopolitical foe? Now, they let one of the leading candidates for president call in whenever he wants and be placed immediately on the air. Meanwhile, they outsource investigative reporting to interested parties. It’s not journalists unearthing secrets these days; it’s advocacy groups armed with Freedom of Information Act requests.
Yes, this past week has been a special kind of stupid, but so has the whole 2016 race. It started a long time ago, and November or not, there is no end in sight.

A Day In The Life
Up at 7am on Friday, the overnight snow was just ending, 30°F and yet we'd only gotten 1" or so on the lawns, with nothing much sticking to the hard surfaces. After OJ and coffee, I streamed the live Chris Plante Show, 9-12 ET on WMAL/DC, and listened to the Rush Limbaugh Show from 12-3, while working on the 2016 Condo 2nd & 3rd Qtrs Budget, and finally-getting-smaller pile of paperwork. My coughing was getting worse. By 1pm, it was 36°F and you'd never know it'd snowed; all gone. In case you missed the childrens' food fight last night, aka 11th GOP Debate on FoxNews, here it is in 60secs. I made Grits & Eggs for breakfast, and kept after the paperwork until mid-afternoon.
I also had the GC N Property & School Tax Folders to review and get ready to pay the 2016 taxes. Insurance on the empty complex is paid-up 6mos at-a-time, and those files were in the flex-folder. I have a meeting w/ Dad on Saturday to review them all, and then talk to our personal/corporate CPA of 20yrs, to decide how to handle some of it.
By 6pm, the news and weather was on, and afterward, the newest episodes of Gold Rush, leading-up to the 2hr Season 6 Finale, until 12 midnight. I quit at 1am, closed down, armed the place and went to bed, hoping to sleep late tomorrow, and still get over to Dad's by 10-10:30am.

Awake at 5:30 on Saturday morning, from violent coughing episodes, I couldn't get back to sleep, so I knew I'd be nodding-off early tonite and sleep later tomorrow. OJ, coffee and nothing special on the weather or news sites. Lots of email, and a message on my phone from my two investor friends: Sunday 1:00pm meeting in White Hall, MD, to look at '30s Ford Roadsters'. I added it to tomorrow's calendar, and planned a callback to each for details and directions. Meanwhile, it was 9:45 and I left for Dad's in North York. We had the GC&N's 2016 Property & School Taxes, 'Clean & Green Program' Taxes to get scheduled for payment, by me. I'll be taking over those payment scheduling and check writing duties. Plus, he had some things which needed tweaking on his HP Laptop. Those done, we spent some quality time, and after 2hrs, I left, made a couple of stops, and got home around 1pm.
On the way home, I used the Combivent® Respimat® Inhaler, so as not to be coughing-up phlegm so hard, at Dad's. After a Turkey Club w/ Fries, I replayed a couple of the week's Chris Plante Show Podcasts 2/29 - 3/4, while doing paperwork and watched the American Pickers Marathon until 11:30pm. Lights out.
I slept-in until 8:30 on Sunday, but my COPD was even worse than the few days before. Coughing-up phlegm "stuff", I used the Combivent® Respimat® Inhaler twice in 20mins, and the congestion loosened-up a little, giving me some room to breathe. 10-15mins after inhaling the mist, I am again coughing and the "stuff" starts coming out. OJ, coffee, news weather and after another 2hrs, I went back to the inhaler. Admittedly, it took longer-than-usual to realize it was Sunday morning, and the usual laundry and condo chores routines applied. My phone needed charging, email wasn't working, so after getting the laundry and chores underway, I sat down to look at the coming week's to-do-list: a rescheduled eye dr's appointment, a rescheduled realtor meeting, a rescheduled meeting with my two investment friends from Lancaster, drive down to Stewartstown and pick-up 3 of 5 waiting Rxs, get some special foodstuffs for Dad and me, and whatever else comes up. Now my COPD needs some priority attention. Some of those things would have to wait until this coughing went away. I need to lose weight, get back outside and walk, exercise and cut down drastically on my smoking. Something. It's killing me slowly, even though I've cut way back, after 52yrs of smoking.
The coughing fits have now gotten so bad that I can't even go to a restaurant or pizza joint, and if in a store or market as one starts-up, I have to stop what I'm doing and quickly go outside to let it run its course. People look at me like I have TB or something worse. So I don't go into any of those places, and won't, until this crap runs its course. I'm sucking on a lot of Ricola® Lemon Cough Drops, and always keeping a bottle of cool water with me, these days. So I decided to again postpone the realtor meeting, the meeting with my two investment friends from Lancaster and everything else until this is over. Sucks to be me.
I made some Maryland Crab Soup, with saltines for lunch, and laid down on the LR couch until the washer and dryer bells told me that the loads needed to be finished. After the laundry marathon, I watched a NASCAR Kobalt 400 race from Phoenix for over 3hrs, a few NatGeoTV Specials, wrote-out some checks for bills, and called it a day around 10pm.
Floaters
Up at 8am on Monday, I made the usual OJ, coffee and called my PCP (Primary Care Physician) to get a quick app't for tomorrow. I was up 2-3x, can't remember, coughing up a lung and trying to empty out the remaining "stuff" in one/both of them. I've got to get out and get more exercise for my lungs. Working on it. I had some Rxs to pick-up down south, so I left at 9:30 to get that done and stop by the GC&N's Beautiful Front Gardens to do a security check. I took my time and spent the morning on those things, and was back home by 1pm. The shopping will have to wait. 57°F and soon my condo was wide open, and I was enjoying the fresh air. I made a Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup for lunch, and went out for a short walk around the CHCA Complex block, in the near-60°F temps. I had a rescheduled 2:15pm eye dr's app't, and left for that. Score: floaters = 3, holding steady. Not good news.
Remember the late and great Win-95, way back when? Watch as these TEENS REACT TO WINDOWS 95, for a good chuckle. Remember the first PG-13 rated movie on TV? "Red Dawn", in 1984.
Back by 3:30, I got a call from my PCP's office, confirming tomorrow's app't at 1:15pm. For the rest of the afternoon, I did paperwork and enjoyed the fresh air coming thru the condo. By 6, the evening news was on, and after that, History Channel had a series called Modern Marvels on, which I'd never seen before, and I watched that until 10:30. Lights out for the day.
Sleeping-in until 8:30 on Tuesday, I again remembered being-up several times during the night with coughing fits, and then going back to sleep. I had fever, and the pillow case was wet. Awful, and now I felt like crap. After OJ and coffee, I made some Scrambled Eggs, Sausage & a Croissant, and streamed the Chris Plante Show, 9-12 ET on WMAL/DC, while doing research on the many side effects of albuterol, the active ingredient in the mist inhaler. I'm having a bad reaction to it, and need to get another inhaler prescribed. I left for the dr's office at The Wellspan Medical Complex at Apple Hill, for the 1:30 app't. Finished by 2:45 with office tests, I headed to the Wellspan Lab for bloodwork, and within 15-20mins, that was done. Temps were already in the mid-60s and still climbing. I felt like I needed a surgical or painter's mask covering my face, since every time one of the frequent phlegm-coughing fits happened, people would move away from my area. Can't blame them, as it sounded real bad. Doc said I was using the inhaler too much, and had too much albuterol in my system. Cut back to 4x/day.
I felt like crap as I drove home, not even bothering to stop at the local pharmacy to get the new inhaler Rx filled; I just wanted to get home and try to get thru the coughing and get it over with. My chest and gut were sore from it, and I needed to get this behind me. It would be a few days for the albuterol to leave my system, according to my doc, but I should begin to feel better after that. Except for the lung congestion. I opened the condo windows to get some fresh air, laid down on the LR couch, and fell asleep. The thought of food made me feel sick. After waking-up around 6:30, all I could do was drink cool water for the evening. I missed the news, watched a few episodes of History Channel's Counting Cars and a really weird movie from SyFy Channel, called Legion (3:37 Trailer only), which was hard to watch. By 10, I'd had enough, took a half Rx 12.5mg Ambien® CR™, and went up to sleep.
After a pretty decent night's sleep – can't remember getting-up for any coughing fits – I got up at 6am on Wednesday, still too early IMO, but the coughing started almost immediately. The OJ and coffee helped soothe my throat, but the "stuff" kept on coming-up. 59°F and sunny, with a 77°F high forecast for the day. I checked the weather and news, email was working fine, and MS had 18 Updates (146.9Mb) to download/install, after I checked the Update/Patch numbers, and "hid" one bad one trying to sneak thru. I opened-up all the windows and doors to screen inserts, and the warm, premature Spring temps poured thru. The coughing of "stuff" began in earnest, and unless I drank icewater and sucked on Ricola® Lemon Cough Drops, my gut and chest was hurting again. I didn't need a hernia from the violent coughing, so I increased both the water and cough drops. That helped. I skipped lunch, since I couldn't get thru any food without either choking on it and throwing it back up. After sleeping on the couch for a few hours, I turned-on History's American Pickers marathon until 10, switched over to the news, and called it a day at 11pm.
Up too early again, at 5:30am on Thursday, I couldn't get back to sleep. So OJ and coffee were in order, to get my brain cells moving and thinking. The coughing fits started just after the 1st mug of Java, and went on most of the day. My chest and gut was still sore from the past 3-4 days. Temps would be in the upper-70s, and I hoped to get out for a short walk, if possible. I streamed the Chris Plante Show, 9-12 ET on WMAL/DC, while working on some paperwork until 12noon, made a Chicken Salad Sandwich on Wheat Toast, and listened to Rush from 12-3pm. I bagged-up the garbage for tomorrow's pick-up, dropped it at my curb, and took a very slow walk around the CHCA Complex block, got the mail, came back in and laid down on the LR couch. Late afternoon, Dad stopped by to see how I was doing, and was amazed at all the coughing and "stuff" coming out. We talked a while and he left just before the news came on. The Final GOP Debate was on, so I watched it until 11, and the analysis afterward until 12:30am. I felt like I had fever, and after taking my temp, it was slightly-elevated at 99.8°F. Time to get some sleep.
Tomorrow is Friday and begins a new week here in the "Journal", and right now everything is on-hold. Everything. Until I feel some improvement and progress in my physical medical situation. I will be going back to my PCP on Wednesday for a follow-up. Hopefully, it'll be on the downswing and we don't have to go to a "Plan B", whatever that is. Light a candle.
Conundrum.
The very definition of the word conundrum is "something that is puzzling or confusing". Here are six conundrums today, in the US:
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it. That pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st century. Kind of makes you wonder who is doing the math.
These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering...
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't. Think about it. And last but not least...
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to all illegal aliens?
Am I the only one missing something?

First, Israel is preparing for war, after being attacked for years on many fronts, and not fighting back as she should have. This war will truly have "Biblical implications" around the world. The Middle East is rapidly-collapsing under the subhuman, murderous muslim/islamic riots (muslim Brotherhood) and rule ("arab Spring"), with world crude oil prices projected to hit $200+/bbl, or even higher into the $300-$400 range,

I said numerous times that Y2K was a waste of time and money to prepare for, and that came true. I'm reading that "survival stores" are reporting a huge upswing in sales and preparations, and for good reason.
I'm also one of the very, very few who "predicted a 9-11 type event", 2 years and 8 months before it happened. Read down that "Journal" entry to the "Scary Stuff" section, and it was done by the subhuman, murderous muslim/islamic shit/filth/trash, NOT the US Gov't as some morons and idiots (Alex Jones & Co), have and still It's interesting you mention when an old paradigm dies and a new one takes its place. There are people who are still connected to the old one and can't conceive of life without that old paradigm. I think you saw that in the Great Depression. A lot of people never recovered from it because once that hit it was the end of their lives. claim. "Last week, President Barack Obama delivered some telling remarks to a fire station full of people in Roanoke, Virginia. I'll save you the trouble of reading the (long and uninspired) speech and provide you with the most interesting part:
"If you've got a business – you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." – President Barack Obama, July 13th, 2012.
It would be easy to respond with something along the lines of, "Somebody else made that happen? Who? Who magically imagined the product or service, started the business, built it up, and created the jobs? Who was it? The tooth fairy?" And to some extent, President Obama's statement is so ridiculous as to merit that sort of quick, flippant response.

However, he's not entirely wrong. This reminds me of an argument that Massachusetts Senate Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren would probably make. If he's talking about a mid-sized or large business, where an entrepreneur has hired additional employees, then at that point the business's success isn't purely that of its founder.
Employees add value to a business through work and ideas. That's why you hire employees, after all. Steve Jobs didn't invent every last detail of the phones, computers, and tablets to come out of Apple over the last decade. There were engineers working on those products who developed them. So, employees help entrepreneurs to build their business. "Somebody else" did indeed play a part in making that happen.
But what makes the president's remarks so inane is the totality of what he's saying. He's not saying that entrepreneurs and employees work together to build a business. It's not a collaborative effort. It's all thanks to the employees. Usually, I can understand the way the president's mind works on most issues by examining it through a pragmatic, liberal, or progressive framework. This one baffles me.
As I explained, I can see that he has some of a point, but he's still just obviously wrong on the broader point. Sure, the employees help to build the business, but the business itself wouldn't exist without the entrepreneur. So, to say to entrepreneurs and to business owners, "...you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen," is just wrong. It's silly. They did build that by setting the foundation for the business.
Entrepreneurs are almost always the hardest workers in their business. They work a simply insane number of hours to get their idea off the ground. If they succeed (and they face a tremendous risk if they don't), then they'll start to grow and to hire employees to help. Honestly, if I were an entrepreneur and I read those remarks by the president, I would be furious. It's a tremendous insult to the true job-creators in America, entrepreneurs.
In the context of a long, somewhat rambling campaign speech that touched on every issue under the sun, it may seem as though I'm over-exaggerating the importance of a minor thing he said. But President Obama isn't a stupid man, or even one who makes off-the-cuff remarks he doesn't really mean. He's a very smart man, and he meant what he said.
When the most important issues for most Americans are economic growth and job creation, I believe it's essential to know exactly where both candidates stand on the importance of entrepreneurs.
