i've changed my mind about the "paradigm shift", which will drastically affect us, all too soon. Instead of my previous thinking that *hyper-inflation* is going to follow this *recession* we're deeply mired-in, I'm now thinking that a *deflationary cycle* will hit us, and do even more damage, before the *full-blown depression* hits us. Or, that possibly that we're in a *depression* right now? I'm thinking that it's more likely the case.

Residential home sales are up 37% since January, propped-up by a false government "tax credit", which 99% don't even realize that they'll have to pay back and is taxable. Surprise, idiots; read the fine print! The corrupt, criminal US Congress f•cks you, once more.
Yet the overall economy is likely to benefit only slightly from higher home sales. Too many factors are weighing on the fledgling recovery. Home construction is weak. Foreclosures are rising. Job creation is slow. And consumers remain reluctant to spend. My "discretionary spending sector" of the economy is particularly hard hit by that reluctance.

By last Friday, the Garden Center Complex was looking pretty desolate, as 50% of the nursery stock had been put into Winter storage in the 6 massive 30ft x 100ft quonset greenhouses. We finished-up the last of the landscape jobs, and did a final tree installation on Tuesday; otherwise the week was spent putting the remainder of the nursery stock away for storage until Spring.
On Saturday, I had a few customers through the Complex, purchasing mulch for their newly-planted material and discounted large trees, for Spring installation. We're done with digging anything more, since the fields aren't drying out and are so muddy that the machines just sink 2-3". Phone calls about what to do to "Winterize my gardens" have been coming in hot-and-heavy, over the past 3-4 days.
On Saturday evening, I continued watching The History Channel's "WWII in HD", which I've been watching for the past week. Previously unseen color film and stories which make your neck hair stand-up.
I slept-in until 10am, on Sunday, got the Jeep washed at Cloister Car Wash (East York), finally got some food shopping done, did some chores around the condo, and settled-in to watch History Channel & AMC-TV for the afternoon and evening. I called it an early night at 9pm, and was glad to rid my mind of the day's and past week's activities.
Driving into work on Monday morning at 6:45am, I saw a half-dozen-plus school kids wearing only shorts and t-shirts in 41°F weather. What are they thinking? What kind of parents would allow their children to leave the house dressed so inappropriately for this weather? Common sense, people! WTF's wrong with the idiot families in York County (PA)? It was an ugly day for my guys to work in, but we still have a lot of containerized plant material to be stored in the GHs, before the snows arrive. Rain from the southwest moved-in around 11am, and made it even more miserable.
Jeff stopped-by to try to "fix" my non-working, Hauppauge 1250 PVR IR-Remote, but it stumped us both, again. He'll be back Tuesday eve to try again. Meanwhile, I continue to manually change channels if I'm watching TV. Always something, isn't it?
Tuesday was cold and rainy, and the lscp crew worked on putting-up 2" x 4" bracing inside the 4 of the 6 quonset GHs, to protect against snowload failure, as what happened in 2003. I don't ever want to go through that crap again. Better to spend $1,000 in lumber for bracing, than over $40,000 in rebuilding GHs, IMO.
With my 60th birthday "just around the corner", I had less than a week to get my PA driver's license renewed, so I did that at 8:30am Tuesday, at the nearby local DMV in Stewartstown (PA). I also changed my political party's affiliation from Independent to Conservative. I'd been a Republican for 30+ years, but changed to Indy 3 years ago, when Lame Brain McCain got the party's nomination and lost, though I voted for Sarah Palin and him. My new Voter Card should be arriving within 2 weeks.
Jeff again stopped-by on Wednesday evening, called Hauppauge Technical Support, and they told us to look at the infrared emitted in the remote through a camera lens, to see if it was "emitting", and it was thru his cellphone. I then shoved the IR cord plug harder into the TV card, and it "clicked", having got hung-up on the edge of the computer case, and THE REMOTE'S WORKING! HOOOOO-RAAAAH!! I'm back in business and having fun, again!
Wednesday was another cold, rainy day, but Alan, Arthur & Charlie got everything stowed for Winter, and they're finished for this year. Jennifer and husband Dave, will be in Friday to work on cleaning-up the Display Garden debris. All the nursery stock was well-watered by the past 3 days of rainfall, so no watering will need to be done for 1-2 weeks. I finished-up some paperwork, worked on some of the new website's — gdnctr v4.0 — pages, and left early at 2pm. I purposely didn't bring any of those pages home, as I get a lot more done on quiet, Winter days at work, than I do at night, at home.
I slept-in on Thanksgiving morning until 8:30, fed the cats and went back to bed until 12. I'd planned to go over to Mom & Dad's early to help with some of the cooking for the 2pm meal, so I dressed and left right away. It was all ready when I got there to help; all I had to do was carve the 13½lb turkey, which I enjoy doing. Turkey, filling, spinach florentine w/ bechamel sauce, peas, corn, cranberry relish and pumpkin pie w/ vanilla ice cream. I took a nice pile of white meat home to my two condo cats, and they went wild. Then, I lit a roaring gas fire, and laid down on the couch for a snooze.

Simple stuff; just takes a few minutes.
