it was always obvious what Obama's supporters wanted. They weren't willing to settle for a Hillary, just another politician who would punch the clock, deliver tepid speeches and push their leftist agenda.
They wanted someone larger than life. A head made for Mount Rushmore and a body that would be cast in statues across the country. Speeches meant to be studied in classrooms for the next hundred years.
They compared him to JFK and Reagan. He was treated as the icon that his backers wanted him to be. His election was supposed to be a watershed moment in American history.
Instead it ends in miserable failure.
At home, Obama is caught in a desperate tug of war with Republicans. He won the budget battle by sending park rangers to shut down national monuments. His last ditch gamble for holding on to the Senate is using racial tensions in Ferguson to promote black voter turnout.
And if he wins, all he'll have is what he has now.
This is how shoddy and tawdry the reality of Hope and Change has become. Trapped in a corner, Obama is dragging out the dirtiest Chicago politics. He's trying to hold off the inevitable by using the same types of tactics that the crooked mayor of his hometown would.
There's no inspiration here. No words that will resound across time. Just dirty rats on a sinking ship.
Blame Congress has become the new Blame Bush. ObamaCare is a slow motion disaster that requires constant course corrections to keep it from coming apart. It's not the new Social Security or Medicare. It's the new HMO; a clumsy construction that most Americans are unhappy with.
Obama's only power comes from his abuse of his authority, but what one man does, another man can undo. Instead of creating a lasting legislative legacy, Obama's executive orders and legislation by administration are a house of cards that his successor can topple with the same pen and phone.
They seem intimidating in the way that the actions of tyrants are, but tyranny can be undone with tyranny. What Obama failed to do was build a consensus. He didn't change the course of American history. He didn't win the hearts and minds of Americans. Now he's reduced to vandalizing America.
Obama said that Putin's actions in Ukraine weren't a sign of strength, but a sign of weakness. There is some truth to that. Putin's economic policies have failed and he was unpopular at home. But the Obama tyrannical reign of phone and pen also isn't a sign of strength. It's a sign of weakness.
Like Putin, Obama has run out of options.
Unpopular with voters, shunned by his own party in battleground states, he rules by executive order and parties with influential executives while ignoring his responsibilities.
That's not Reagan. It's not JFK. It's not even LBJ.
Stumbling to the microphone in a tan suit, he admits that he has no strategy for ISIS. Why should he? A few months ago he was calling a force that controls much of Iraq and Syria a junior varsity team while claiming credit for defeating Al Qaeda. Now his spokesman insists that the US is not at war with ISIS.
What Obama says has no relationship to reality. It's always been that way. It's only becoming obvious to those talking heads inside his media bubble now.
Obama's foreign policy consisted of a flowchart of how things were supposed to work. There was an arrow from "Outreach" to "Reconciliation" to "New Middle East". Instead Iraq is on fire. Libya is on fire. Syria is on fire. Everyone else is either mocking him or begging for his help without seriously expecting him to do anything useful.
And the flowchart doesn't mention any of it.
ISIS was supposed to be a JV team. Iraqis are supposed to reconcile. ISIS isn't supposed to be at war with the United States. Like most ideologues, Obama confuses what his reading of the inevitable forces of history says should happen with what is actually happening. Political Islam was supposed to stabilize the Middle East. Instead the future will be defined by a clash between national armies and Islamist militias.
Removing US troops from Iraq was supposed to fix the problem. The best anti-colonialist scholarship said it would. Instead combined with the Arab Spring, it let Al Qaeda take over much of the country.
But what else was an ideological fanatic big on theory and short on life experience going to do?
Obama is Fareed Zakaria. He's Thomas Friedman. He's Paul Krugman. He read all the books and he talks a good game so that it's easy to miss the fact that his ideas don't have much to do with real life.
Friedman babbling about the flattening world, Krugman pretending that money is infinite and Zakaria jumping from one ridiculous globalist idea to another sound good in a lecture hall or a column.
But only an idiot would actually listen to them.
Obama's speeches sounded good, but only idiots would elect a man with no life experience, no executive experience and no meaningful experience of any kind for speaking well, instead of doing well.
Of course Obama doesn't have a strategy for ISIS. Why would he?
ISIS wasn't supposed to happen. His schedule, in between golfing and fundraising, had amnesty and Global Warming unilateral orders penciled in. Putin's invasion of Ukraine also wasn't on the schedule. Killing missile defense and being incredibly flexible were supposed to fix that.
As a last resort, sanctions, the universal failure of global diplomacy, were supposed to keep this from happening. But like everything else that Obama tried, they didn't work.
Obama doesn't live in the world of "What is" but the world of "What should be". Inspiration does come from the world of "What should be", but when it isn't grounded in the world of "What is" then it manifests as insanity or leads to miserable failures.
The difference between the brilliant architect and the lunatic on the street corner is that while both of them know "What should be", only one of them knows "What is".
Obama's inspiration came from "What should be". He never did understand "What is". His followers thought and think that "What is" can be waved away, ignored or beaten down as a last resort. That is what he is doing now with his executive orders and his unilateral rule. He is trying to salvage his miserable failure as a leader by forcing his way on the whole country.
It hasn't made him popular. It hasn't made his way into the American Way. It has isolated him. The American people have rejected him in poll after poll. Now the media is slowly accepting their verdict.
And no, he doesn't have a strategy for that.

A Day In The Life
Up at 6:30 on Friday morning, it was a chilly 48°F as the sun was beginning to come up. The first wave of garbage trucks (recyclables) was coming thru the Condo complex, and making its usual noise. It's getting lighter later, and darker, earlier; a sure sign that Fall and Winter are on their inevitable way. After some Turkish-ground drip coffee and fresh OJ, I checked the weather, news and email, and the day's short to-do list: take the garbage out to the curb, feed the neighbor's 2 cats, p/u the Rx in Stewartstown, work on some legal documents, Condo chores. I left for Southern York County at 9:30am. The ride on I-83 South was nice – I got the waiting Rx and made 2 other stops – but my choice to come back on Rt-24 North was a mistake. Solid construction choke points from Red Lion to East York as traffic was building for the Labor Day Holiday 3½-day Weekend. Crap. Home by 11:30am, I opened-up the Condo to 65°F and a nice breeze, made some 10oz Jumbo Lump Maryland Crab Cakes and some of the leftover fries from yesterday's FIVE GUYS Burgers lunch. When I started-up my
I went out for a walk around the neighborhood, fed the neighbor's 2 cats, listened to Rush for a while, played the morning's missed Chris Plante Show Podcast while doing some chores, and put-off the legal docs work until tomorrow. By 6pm, my left arm's bicep-tendon was throbbing and I ate a handful of aspirin and used a cold-pak for an hour to numb it out. It's beginning to heal after last Sunday's careless and stupid re-injury. The usual Mark Levin Show was on from 6-9, and the John Batchelor Show, until 11pm. I did a new CATV speedtest, to check if my cable modem connection was a problem in the slow loading of *some* web pages, and was impressed with the results; it wasn't the problem. I'm almost ready to uninstall Opera v12.17 and reinstall the same version, to see if that's part of the problem. There were also some more "9-11 Truther" YT videos I wanted to watch, but I was just too tired, closed-down, armed the Condo, and went upstairs to sleep.
Saturday morning was cloudy, but a nice 65°F to start the day, and as I made OJ and coffee, I checked the usual weather and news sites, plus email. My computer was still acting weird, so I ran more MalwareBytes (Free) scans on it, and found 47 infections, which were neutralized and removed. That helped, but I'm still getting the "server

I slept-in until 8am on Sunday, a cloudy, very muggy and unusually warm 76°F morning. After some Del Monte® Red Grapefruit Sections, coffee and rye toast, I checked the usual weather and news websites, downloaded a half-ton of email and relaxed until 10am. Huge lines of t-storms were approaching from the west, so I went out to the CHCA Community Mailboxes, got my week's mail, fed the neighbor's cats, and loaded-up the washer with laundry and bed linens for a little later. By 11:30, I was getting hungry and heated-up a container of PA Dutch Chicken Pot Pie, as the sun played hide-and-seek with the gathering clouds. Temps had moved-up to 85° by 11:45 and headed toward 90°. I started laundry loads around 1pm while writing out checks for upcoming bills, reading (and
Monday morning was another warm 68°F, cloudy and muggy start to the day, at 7am. After coffee, OJ and no breakfast, I went over to my neighbor's and fed his 2 cats, checked my food shopping list, finished my coffee, and left for Weis Market at 9:30. The roads and stores were almost empty, as people took advantage of the end of the 3-day holiday, and slept-off the weekend's vacation-partying On the morning ride, I noticed that gas/diesel prices at the pump, had increased 6¢/gal, since just last Tuesday, August 26st: Unleaded Regular (87 oct) is now at $3.35/gal, Unleaded Premium (89oct) at $3.45/gal, Premium (93 oct) at $3.65/gal, and yet Diesel Fuel/Kerosene K-2 dropped 4¢/gal to $3.75/gal, at many stations in the York (PA) area. hangovers. I got thru my food list at the supermarket in just under 40mins, drove to Dad's with a few bags for him, watered his grasses in the outdoor urns, helped him with some computer things, visited for an hour and was back home by 12:30pm. Temps were already at 88° and would hit 92° by 5pm.
I unpacked and put away the groceries, made some Stuffed Shells, heated-up leftover fries from FIVE GUYS Burgers, and did paperwork with "Best of Rush" on in the background. It was like a sauna outside, but nowhere near as hot as what my friends have to deal with in the Southeast, South, Southwest and West. I guess maybe one gets used to it? At 64, it'd be difficult for me. I got the documents and folders ready for tomorrow's attorney meeting at 1:30, had some ice cream, watered the ornamental grass in my porch urn, and relaxed for the day. I started watching some more NatGeo videos on YT: “Lethal Action”/ NatGeo and “The Real Sopranos Documentary” and “Narco State”/ Nat Geo, until 11:30pm. I nodded-off, and woke-up with a jolt, at 12 midnight; damn, time to close down, arm the place and get upstairs for sleep. Busy day tomorrow.
Up at 7am on Tuesday, it was just barely getting light outside, partly due to the cloud and fog, but also to the sun being lower in the sky. A muggy and warm 69°F already. After some OJ and coffee, I made Scrapple, Homefries, Toast & Eggs for breakfast, checked email, the news and weather, and re-checked the files and folders I needed for the day's attorney meeting at 1:30. I figured-out the Opera browser's page-loading problem, right after my first coffee: I'd erased the installed Adobe® Flash® Player when I cleaned-out cookies, and it was delaying page loading. I re-installed an upgraded version, rebooted and now everything is back to "super-fast normal". Natch. Sometimes it takes a little while to figure things out, but I usually always do. The alarm went off at 4:00am on Wednesday, and I stumbled out of bed in the dark. Damn, I hate getting up "0-Dark-Thirty", after only getting 2-3hrs of sleep. 59°F and not as humid. I grabbed some quick coffee – LOTS of coffee – got ready and left for my Sister's at 5:30am. We were there in plenty of time, the minor surgery went well and I got her home by 9am, and drove home to my

Up at 7:30am on Thursday, very wobbly and drenched in sweat, I was able to keep down OJ, coffee and Soft-Boiled Eggs w/ Toast in a bowl. I grabbed a shower, changed the pillow/ pillowcase linen for fresh ones, and began throwing-out the suspected grapes and other foods (proscuitto parma ham, monterey jack cheese, butter lettuce) I'd eaten around that same time in the late afternoon, just to be sure. I'm pretty sure it was the grapes, but I took no chances. No more freaking green grapes for me! Only red grapes, but I check the carefully, too. Anyway, by 10am, I was feeling much better, went out for a walk around the neighborhood, ran into some neighbors and the fresh 79°F air helped clear-out the cobwebs. I listened to part of Rush, replayed the morning's missed Chris Plante Show Podcast from 3-6pm, and then listened to the usual Mark Levin Show from 6-9. I found a couple of interesting NatGeoTV Videos: "Prepping - Back To Basics" and NatGeoTV's "Doomsday Preppers" Series: Be The Prep, and watched them until 11:45pm. That was enough; time to shut down, arm the place and get some sleep.
Friday starts a new week here in the "Journal", and although there are only a couple of meetings scheduled for the week, the 13-year mark of 9-11, as I recorded it, is upon us as a Nation. Although America has been infiltrated and compromised by the leftist-lib-dem-Marxist-muslim filth, I pray that nothing happens, and that the day passes quietly, and we get rid of the corrupt, criminal regime-from-hell, 0bummer&Co, as soon as possible. God help us all.

Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia are going through the worst Ebola outbreak in history and health officials believe that it has killed more than 700 people there. Now, for the first time, Ebola has "officially" entered the United Sates via two health aid workers, that contracted the disease while working in Africa, where the Ebola outbreak continues.
Ebola virus disease (EVD), originally known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever, is a severe, and often times (70-90%) fatal disease in humans. Case fatality can be up to 90 percent – in other words, 90 out of every 100 people who catch Ebola die. EVD outbreaks typically occur in remote villages in Central and West Africa and are transmitted via wild animals (such as fruit bats) to humans.
The first patient landed in the United States on Saturday, August 2, 2014. Dr. Kent Brantly was then flown from Africa to the United States and then transported via ambulance to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. The second person, Nancy Whitebol, will return to the U.S. in the coming days. Many people are questioning the decision to bring the two American aid workers to the United States to be treated. Think about it. That pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st century. Kind of makes you wonder who is doing the math.
These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering...
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't. Think about it. And last but not least...
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to all illegal aliens?

Obama: "Entrepreneurs Don't Build Businesses"
"Last week, President Barack Obama delivered some telling remarks to a fire station full of people in Roanoke, Virginia. I'll save you the trouble of reading the (long and uninspired) speech and provide you with the most interesting part:
"If you've got a business – you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." – President Barack Obama, July 13th, 2012.
It would be easy to respond with something along the lines of, "Somebody else made that happen? Who? Who magically imagined the product or service, started the business, built it up, and created the jobs? Who was it? The tooth fairy?" And to some extent, President Obama's statement is so ridiculous as to merit that sort of quick, flippant response.

However, he's not entirely wrong. This reminds me of an argument that Massachusetts Senate Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren would probably make. If he's talking about a mid-sized or large business, where an entrepreneur has hired additional employees, then at that point the business's success isn't purely that of its founder.
Employees add value to a business through work and ideas. That's why you hire employees, after all. Steve Jobs didn't invent every last detail of the phones, computers, and tablets to come out of Apple over the last decade. There were engineers working on those products who developed them. So, employees help entrepreneurs to build their business. "Somebody else" did indeed play a part in making that happen.
But what makes the president's remarks so inane is the totality of what he's saying. He's not saying that entrepreneurs and employees work together to build a business. It's not a collaborative effort. It's all thanks to the employees. Usually, I can understand the way the president's mind works on most issues by examining it through a pragmatic, liberal, or progressive framework. This one baffles me.
As I explained, I can see that he has some of a point, but he's still just obviously wrong on the broader point. Sure, the employees help to build the business, but the business itself wouldn't exist without the entrepreneur. So, to say to entrepreneurs and to business owners, "...you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen," is just wrong. It's silly. They did build that by setting the foundation for the business.
Entrepreneurs are almost always the hardest workers in their business. They work a simply insane number of hours to get their idea off the ground. If they succeed (and they face a tremendous risk if they don't), then they'll start to grow and to hire employees to help. Honestly, if I were an entrepreneur and I read those remarks by the president, I would be furious. It's a tremendous insult to the true job-creators in America, entrepreneurs.
In the context of a long, somewhat rambling campaign speech that touched on every issue under the sun, it may seem as though I'm over-exaggerating the importance of a minor thing he said. But President Obama isn't a stupid man, or even one who makes off-the-cuff remarks he doesn't really mean. He's a very smart man, and he meant what he said.
When the most important issues for most Americans are economic growth and job creation, I believe it's essential to know exactly where both candidates stand on the importance of entrepreneurs. The facility was built for $24 million in 2010. The cavernous warehouse is typically shrouded in total darkness. Motion lights illuminate only the areas in which someone is walking.
