ever since socialist, racist, hate-Whitey, marxist, hate-America, hate-US Military, hate-Freedom, hate-Liberty, B. Hussein Obama-Osama-Lama-Ding-Dong (Nigga-IL) and shit-for-brains, Joey "The Hairplug Plagiarist" Biden (LIAR-DE) were elected on Nov 4th, all I've been reading about on the few firearms and non-firearms forums which I frequent, is "Buy More Ammo!" It would seem that being in the firearms & ammo business right now, should be extremely profitable, though somewhat short-lived. For after January 20th's Inauguration, the US House & US Senate bills will be flying fast and furious to regulate, limit purchases, tax-ammo-to-death and/or ban all firearms, but especially all "regulate-tax-ban all ammunition".
Remember that a "car without gas in the tank, is worthless"; likewise, a "firearm without ammo is essentially worthless", as well. Whether it's factory-loaded or owner-loaded, if you can't get it as a whole, or get the various parts needed to make it viable ammunition, he firearms are essentially worthless. And if they succeed in banning/regulating/taxing-to-death all ammo, guns will be relegated to simple doorstops and paperweights. In fact, they'll be essentially useless for all self-protection purposes, under the Second Amendment's provisions.

I've also heard about several bills which would "serialize" ammo — laser-imprint a serial number on the box, casing and bullet for ID by LEOs, in the event of a crime — and that possession of any and all un-serialized ammo, would automatically be a felony, punishable by heavy fines and prison. This procedure would be physically-impossible on small caliber, rimfire ammo, like .22cal, since "But they're NOT looking at the cost of implementing such a hideously-expensive program; most likely, they're using such a ruse to ultimately regulate/ban all ammo, out-of-existence, for civilian purchase, ownership and use, I'm heavily-betting. And I'm not a betting man." it is a "tiny round" (but a very lethal unit), to begin with. And the cost of such a program would add the bill-mandated 300-500% "tax" to the cost of an individual round, take years to implement and most likely, not work well enough to justify the cost. But they're NOT looking at the cost; most likely, they're using such a ruse to ultimately regulate/ban all ammo, out of existence, for civilian purchase, ownership and use, I'm heavily-betting. Although I'm not a betting Man, I'll bet anyone, anywhere that it's the only reason why they'd pursue an idiotic program like "serialization of ammo". Any takers?

The Friday after Thanksgiving, widely-known as "Black Friday", would seem to be a "violence holiday" rather than a "national day of shopping", yet from the volume of traffic which I saw on the way into/the way home from work, last Friday, would belie the so-called title. It isn't, and it has do to with retailers, (un)like myself, who make their year's profit, in a few days (which I don't). And from the decreased volume (2008-over-2007) of the traffic I saw last week, I'd say that the Recession is proceeding nicely into a Depression. Instead of the US Gov't raising interest rates and rewarding savings, they're lowering interest rates to encourage spending on this uber-fragile "bubble (spending-encouraged) economy", which has already collapsed and is once again steadily-heading from "Recession to Depression", unless credit-based spending is stopped and saving is encouraged and rewarded. What we're living through now is the consequence of too years of borrowing-and-spending, instead of saving. Okay, enough of that harangue.
Suffice it to say that last "Black Friday, the traffic was voluminous, local shopping malls were filled-to-over-capacity, people were dying to shop (another original article here), and tempers were obviously flaring as various cars sped ahead of others waiting-in-line, cut-in-line, made illegal u-turns, cut-in-front-of other cars, drove illegally on the roads' shoulder lane etc, and I was just glad to say, for my 30th year, I've never participated in that "Black Friday Shopping Crap". Ever. It was kind of strange that I didn't see more of a "police presence" on the roads, than I did: in fact, I saw not one B&W unit out there.
In the midst of this sadness and tragedy, Thanksgiving's "Black Friday" Shopping Day proceeded as normal, despite all the bloodshed, slaughter of innocents, terror and horror in Bombay (Mumbai); I was conspicuously-absent from it all, as usual. I followed it all, on the various news' websites, nay TV, (and marveled-at-it-all) distantly-attributed to "disaffected/disenfranchise youth" and "alleged militants" — subhuman, murderous, lowlife dirtbag muslim-islamist filth — by the terrorist-supporting MSM (main stream media) whores. I lost my appetite, shortly thereafter. Heh.
On Friday evening, knowing that "Nuke & Repave Day" was >2 days away, and that everything my current RAID 0+1's Array would be lost when Jeff & I switch the new, robust 4-DC HD for the 4-Hitachi HD, reloaded WIN-XP Pro, and I reinstalled all the apps and their saved-data, I spent Friday afternoon and evening, going back thru all the DC 1-TAB (terrabyte) HD's contents, which I'd saved earlier, comparing file dates etc, and re-saving the data files, and software download files, for reinstallation, on Sunday, and for days/eves, afterward. I truly dread this stuff. (((sigh))) But there's no choice, right now. None.
The dreary, bleak, snowy days around my GC&N Complex' Gardens are *totally-dead*, right now. As usual, for this time-of-year. I should be used to it, but I'm not, even after 18, going on 19 years. Perhaps 10-15 calls coming-in, asking about Spring work, which I usually refer-directly to James, my LSCP Designer; meanwhile I'll handle the "Wintering-over" questions, take the visiting people "on a tour" and "wowing them" with all the stuff packed-away in the 6 massive 30ft x 100ft GHs, and invite them to the 19th Annual Open House, on Saturday, April 18th. James has all-Winter to get LSCP- Design work accomplished, and hands-off the designs/numbers to me, for spreadsheet-based, LSCP estimates. Here's some pics from the 18th Annual (2008) Open House, last April 12th, in case you weren't there. Why weren't you there? As we get closer to the Christmas and New Year Holidays, it'll get even "deader", if that can happen, but it does every year; trust me on that point. As we get closer to Spring, activity picks-up in February/March, and by April 1st, we're usually back into a "fever pitch", though with this moribund economy, I just don't know what's going to happen by Spring; ie, by March-April-May. My own personal guess is that it's going to take 3-4-5 qtrs of solid, economic growth to "compensate" for all of the major-downturn qtrs which we've now had, just in 2008, alone. Agree or disagree, with my well-considered opinion? It could be 1-3 years until we get "back-on-track", as a Nation and able to "kick-some-ass" once again, worldwide. Then again, we may never get back to that *Ultimate Tipping Point*, ever again, IMO. WTF knows?
I'm still getting calls about my "Compost Pile" and "Burn Pile", being still open for public usage, and I tell them "yes". It is, for another 3-4 weeks, and then I'm closing it down. Heh. About 2 weeks ago, we "burned-it-off" for the season, and that's it for 2008; I'll reopen both piles in April 2009, to accept debris from my LSCP Crew(s) and the General Public, if we're at that point-in-time. I'll be bringing-in an excavator to turn-and-sort the compost pile, in May, so we can use the God-given compost material for both LSCP Jobs, and for retail sales.
Saturday was also a "dead day", except for *one guy* who came-in for *1-CuYd* of our Premium Dark Bark Mulch, and Dad loaded the guy's truck with my JD-70 Tractor. I took care of various 6-8 phone calls, for the day, emptied garbage cans, changed lightbulbs and did other mindless tasks. We closed-down at 3pm, and left. I spent the rest of the afternoon & evening, going through all the previously-saved software apps/files/data on my WDC 1-Tb External Drive, to make sure that all apps, data and other important files were up-to-date, properly-saved and ready for reinstallation on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, after the "Nuke & Re-Pave" Op, by Jeff & me, on Sunday afternoon.
No I'm not buying all kinds of new guns, but *yes*, I'm stocking-up upon specific types of ammunition for those weapons, which I already own. You? I just don't see the need to buy and own a bunch of new firearms, just for the sake of having new guns; rather, I'd just prefer to have plenty of ammo for those firearms, which I already own/have in my (similar to this unit, but I can't find the Cannon T65 anywhere online, dammit!) Cannon T65 Double Door Gunsafe. Does that simple rationale make any sense to you? It does to me. WTF's up with Cannon, anyway? Their T65 Model isn't available, anymore? WTF! Anyway...
As the numerous, ordered ammo cases come-in via UPS-DHL/FedEx, and as I bring-them-in from the delivery vehicles, and from my local armorer, Freedom Armory, Glen Rock (PA); I unpack it and shelve/store-it, by caliber, in my large safe, for "safe-keeping and future-use".
I relish Sundays — yes, I know that I should be going to Church (Seven Valleys, PA), and I will do so, over the coming Winter Months, as I've promised to (Cousin) Rev Tom — sleeping-in, but instead of "sleeping-in", as the Winter Months go by, I'll feel less-and-less-need to "sleep-in", on Sundays. And maybe even surprise Rev Tom, when I show-up, on a Wintry, Sunday morning, for his 10:15am Service. Heh.
I slept-in until 7am, got-up and fed/watered the two condo cats, and went back to sleep until ~11:30am. I made Starbuck's ***robust*** "French Roast"™ Whole Bean-Turkish/Fresh-Grind Coffee, a 4-high stack of French Toast w/ Keller's Butter™ and confectioner's sugar, and went food shopping at WEIS Markets on Eastern Blvd. Jeff was scheduled to come over at 3pm, to begin the "Nuke & Re-Pave Op", which I truly-dreaded, but we got started on the process around 3:30, and had it completed, with my 2-3 day-long of app installation and data-file restoration, completed in about 4½hrs, by the time he'd left, around 7:30pm. The WIN-XP Pro™ "Nuke & Re-Pave Op", went surprisingly-well, considering all the shit/crap/things which could have failed; I'm still installing many-scores of apps from my former RAID 0+1 Array, anyone of which could cause a problem. So far, it's not been a problem. Tomorrow (Tuesday 12/2/2008) is my 59th B-Day, and I'm hoping/praying that all goes well. I'm lighting a candle, as that's all I want for my B-day.
I spent from 3-6pm, copying and re-copying folders and data over to the WDC external HD, for safekeeping, before Jeff arrived. I know from previous "Nuke & Repave Ops" that a lot of stuff gets "lost", and that if I don't be "redundant" in copying-off such things, that I always wish I had done so. I will be losing all my email lists from this machine, in Thunderbird v2, but although I've saved it all to the WDC Ex-HD, there's always the "very distinct possibility" that I'll not be able to "import and re-establish" it, as my email contact list. WTH; I'll work around it and get a new email list reinstalled, if I can't recover the old ones.
We also found that a socket (#9) on the Asus Mobo (motherboard) had gone bad, so we ordered a replacement (used from China), and it should be here with 5-6 days. Nuking was easy: remove all the HDs, insert new HDs, install WinXp-Pro. Right? Nope. The DVD-RW/ CD reader wasn't fully-completing the install. We tried 3x and gave up. On Monday, I went to Best Buy and got a new one. Jeff came by at 5pm, and the O/S installation went flawlessly. I set-up a browser, email, AVG antivirus (until I get Norton SystemWorks & AV reinstalled) and some other "mission critical apps/data files", to get me through the coming week/weekend and bide some more time until the replacement mobo arrives. Down 2 days, but by Tuesday evening, it was now functioning on a "bare bones" roster of necessary apps. I decided to hold-off reinstalling "everything", until after the mobo was replaced, to make sure another O/S reinstall wasn't going to be necessary. Even with all my meticulous record-keeping of what software/key codes had been copied & saved, there were a few "glitches" on Wednesday afternoon, when I finally sat down and began reinstalling some add'l apps, and moving-over their data files. "Murphy's Law" never fails.
I picked-up a pile of ammo from Freedom Armory, Glen Rock (PA), on Tuesday afternoon: 1,000-rounds of .308cal for my AR-10, 500-rounds of .357Magnum for my Colt Trooper MKIII 6" Revolver and for my Henry Lever-Action Repeater Rifle chambered in .357 Magnum, 500-rounds of 12-ga .00 Buck for my Remy 870 Tactical "Synthetic" Shotgun, and along with the 5,000-rounds for my Kimber 1911 "Eclipse Target II" .45cal ACP, the 150-rounds of my Beowulf .50cal (not BMG), and another 500-rounds for my Glock .357SIG, are going to "tide-me-over", for 'awhile", IMO. As future finances permit, I'll order some more-in.
Wednesday was a nice day: sunny and 48°F, and Jennifer was in to do some watering, help me with some customers' payments, so I closed-down at 2:15pm and went home. I noticed that gas prices at the pump, had dropped another 14¢/gal, in >4 days. Unleaded Regular (87oct) is now at $1.69/gal, Unleaded Premium (89oct) is at $1.79/gal, and Unleaded Super Premium (92oct) is now at $1.99/gal, with Diesel dropping 7¢/gal, to $2.79/gal. I think we're nearing bottom on this "gas price downward-spiral", as some of the other stations in the area are charging much higher prices, and this new Rutter's Store on Rt 24 (North Red Lion) is one of the few exceptions, as are 1-2 other stores of theirs, in the immediate area. Enjoy it while you can.
I spent Wednesday afternoon and evening, scanning my existing WDC 1-Tb External HD, for other apps and data files, which I could safely and easily copy to the HD, and install. I decided to hold-off doing anymore, until the replacement Mobo (from China) arrives. Once that issue's resolved satisfactorily, I'll get on to reinstalling all the remaining apps and their data files, bigtime. Meanwhile, I've got some other stuff to do for this newly-rebuilt RAID 0+1 Array machine, as there are so many "niggling details" to get done, before it's "satisfactory to me', and I'm ready to resume normal activities. Long way to go, still. (sigh)
