we live in a post-Constitutional America. The beliefs that this country were founded on – small government, individual liberty, state supremacy and Congressional supremacy – have become just so many quaint things of the past.
We have relinquished that which our forefathers and ancestors were willing to commit treason for, and put their lives on the line.
We have given way to big government, a welfare state, federal supremacy, a dizzying alphabet soup of administrative agencies who all have been granted the ability to make laws yet they are in no way elected by the people – I don't believe they are really for the people either – and an executive body that every day looks more authoritarian than not. This is not a new phenomenon, either. This isn't the fault of one president – although he has raced forward at a staggering pace previously unmatched – this is the fault of a people who have been sleeping while their liberty has been taken away bit-by-bit, since FDR.
Vote demokkkRAT; it's much easier than working.The New Deal established the beginning of the welfare state that we have been forced to live with today. I know we all like to pretend it got us out of The Great Depression, but it didn't. Sorry to shatter the illusion, if you hold it, but the boom in manufacturing because of World War II, got us out of the Depression. FDR didn't have diddly-squat to do with it. His socialist policies prolonged the Depression by 8-10yrs. Since then, individual liberty and the founding principals have fallen completely by the wayside.
In order for this country to get back on the right track, we need to get back to those principles. I don't know exactly what it would take to get back to our founding principles. I know that it won't be fun, it will be uncomfortable but if we don't want to turn into a total Socialist nation, then that is what we need to do. It would requiring people taking personal responsibility, and saying no to entitlements, realizing that in order to maintain their freedom, they need to be responsible for themselves and not dependant on the government machine. I don't know if that is even realistic. I don't know if it will happen. But I very much hope that it does, because if not, this great country will fail to exist and our Constitution will become a concept we only hear about in the digital history books, until "they" edit the electronic files.

A Day In The Life
Up at 4:45am on Friday, it felt like the flu had returned last night: headaches, fever, joint aches, muscle pain etc. I was up 3x for aspirin/water, a smoke and back to another shortened and disturbed sleep session. I was tempted to take a sleeping pill, but didn't. 24°F outside on the Condo's Weather Station, so I made Fresh-Squeezed OJ w/ lots of pulp, Soft-Boiled Eggs w/ Toast in a bowl, French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee (from whole, freshly-ground Dunkin' Donuts® beans) with my Chemex® Drip System, and scanned the weather and new sites. By 6:45am, it was getting light, and I needed to finish-up a couple of things since my housekeeper would be coming today on a flu-delayed schedule (mine), and also needed to get ready to go down to the GC&N Complex, and open-up for Hellam Twp to dig more trees and shrubs.
After re-designing the lscp plan for their new building, I left it to the crew chief to close-up, stopped at a couple of businesses to finish-up some weeks' old, undone errands, and was home by
I slept-in until 7:45am on Saturday, and after a most restful night, felt great. After Texas Red Grapefruit, "Stuffed Hash Browns" and coffee, I opened-up the computer to get email, check the weather and news sites. UPS had sent a "Notice of Next-Day Shipment", stating that my shipment of 2 officially-notarized birth certificates (replacements) required me being present for signature/receipt. From Brentwood TN to New Wilmington PA to Pittsburgh PA to New Stanton PA to Philadelphia to Harrisburg PA to York PA, in 2+ days. So I changed plans for Saturday and Monday (UPS doesn't deliver on Sunday), made calls and left voicemails for Monday's scheduled appointments. I had a couple hours work re-inventorying my basement's disaster supplies to do, old friend Dave called to catch-up on things since he and his wife had moved, and I made a Chicken Salad Sandwich on Croissant w/ Chips for lunch, around 1:30pm. I did some re-weatherstripping in the garage, in preparation for Winter – okay, I was wrong about the coming severity of snow and cold – whenever it finally
My alarm went off at 6:15am on Sunday, reminding me that I needed to get a quick Breakfast and coffee, get my week's mail and go food shopping. I was running at least an hour later than my usual schedule, but no matter. That done, I was back around 11am, unpacked and started prepping for lunch with Dad. I made large Chef's Salads, my signature massive steak-cheeseburger w/ caramelized onions & mayo, and Key Lime Pie. Sister Becky called at 12noon to wish me a happy b-day and talk for a while. Dad arrived at 12:30pm, also wished a happy b-day, we ate and were "stuffed". After clean-up, I took a 3hr siesta on the LR couch, watched several episodes of the "Walking Dead", until 10pm, and shut-down the place.
Monday is usually change-the-bed-linens and general laundry day, but since I had to stay-put at the Condo and wait for the UPS Next Day Delivery w/ Signature/ID required shipment, it might just be another wasted day. Usually, I can get all the laundry stuff done by 11am, and get other things done too, but today I had to wait for UPS. Up at 7am, had OJ, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Potatoes & Toast and coffee, for breakfast. Yes, I spent most of the morning on the computer, listening to the Michael Berry Show. By 11:30am, I was hungry again, and made a Classic BLT, and suddenly UPS was at the door. That package received, I was off to get other stuff
Sleeping-in until 8am on Tuesday, was great, and outdoor temps were already up to 53°F, so I knew it'd be a warm day. Ditto, Wednesday. I made OJ, Shredded Wheat w/ Fruit and coffee. After scanning the weather and news sites, I grabbed my Kodak Easy-Share DX3900 Digital Camera and my Leather Writing Case, and left for the Hellam Twp Building complex to see what additional landscape material they'd need from my closed business to complete the main building, ahead of Winter setting-in. After shooting 15pics of the needy areas around the building, I stopped at a local garden center operation, to see what they had remaining for Hellam Twp's use – not much; all nursery stock had been greenhoused for Winter storage and all available was now Christmas trees, wreaths etc – so I'd again go down to the old GC&N Complex to scout-around for any remaining, suitable plant material. York City is finished digging, and Hellam Twp will soon be finished. I called Dad to talk for a while, and made a Grilled Cheese and Ham & Tomato Soup for lunch. I did the remaining 2 loads of laundry from yesterday, and re-diagrammed/costed-out some options for Hellam Twp. By 6pm, I'd listened to the morning's missed Chris Plante Show Podcast and then turned-on the live streaming Mark Levin Show, from 6-9pm. It was still 62°F outside. I needed to be down at the GC&N to meet with Hellam Twp, so I packed-it-in for the day, at 10pm.
On the morning's round-trip, I noticed that gas prices at-the-pump have dropped 15¢ since Friday 11/23: Unleaded Regular (87 oct) is down to $3.45/gal, Unleaded Premium (89oct) is now at
I overslept bigtime, on Wednesday, until 7:45am, and hurried to get OJ, Ham & Potato Pancakes (Latkes) and coffee for breakfast, and get down to the Complex to meet the digging crew by 9am. Although it was forecast to be 70°F, it was drizzly, cloudy and a cold 39°F. I was an ½ hour late, and the guys had already finished digging 9 trees and were just leaving, but I had to change some outside lightbulbs and do a usual security check. I found that GH #2 had been broken into, but except for some poly (6-mil plastic) covering push-through in a corner, there was no lasting damage. I repaired it, and left at 10:30. I stopped at Giant Supermarket and picked-up some seafood for Dad and myself, for delivery to him, tomorrow. I got home around 11:15, unpacked and made a HotDog, Cheese, Onions, Bacon, Baked Beans & Fries for lunch. Finally, the sun came through the clouds, it warmed-up and I went out for a 2hr walk. Tens-of-thousands of websites are devoted to the topic of "survival". Do the same with "You Tube", and watch the thousands of videos. This is *NOT The Phony Y2K Crappola*; this is for real. I said numerous times that Y2K was a waste of time and money to prepare for, and that came true. I'm reading that "survival stores" are reporting a huge upswing in sales and preparations, and for good reason.
