The heavy-duty, Midwest-Tennessee-Ohio Valley blizzards-turned-rainstorms, abated early Thursday night, just as I was coming out of my flu-like *dilerium*, but filled-up my billion gallon retention ponds to overflowing. Friday, Christmas Eve Day, was much colder with temps in the low 20°sF, and locks everywhere were frozen solid, due to the "horizontal rain" from 40-50mph winds we had on Thursday.
unholy Crappola! Christmas Eve Day was a madhouse on the roads, as I left at my usual 3pm "Winters Hours" timeslot. I haven't seen traffic jams like that since, well, last Christmas Eve Day. Accidents; yes, there were many more than "normal" number, even for the York (PA) area. I got home around 4pm, for a 14.2 mile drive which would normally take 22 minutes. I made several adult beverages while listening to The Savage Nation, 6-10pm EST, and crashed-out at 9:30pm.
On Christmas Day, I slept-in 'til 10:30am, went down to the GC&N Complex to feed Pickle, and do some paperwork, and then went to Mom & Dad's for our traditional Christmas Day Dinner: Baked Kunzler Ham, yams, fresh (frozen; next best; just ask me...) corn and (just made) cheesecake. And vino, of course. Sister Becky called from SF, around 2:30pm. The roads were nearly empty, unlike the previous evening; I guess everyone found what they'd wanted, at the last minute. I took some fresh ham home for my two condo cats, Murphy and Mama Kitty, and they went ballistic, as usual.
On Sunday, I slept-in until 12noon — any conspiracies, here? — made some Eggs Benedict w/ fresh hollandaise sauce and coffee, while I scanned the news, and noticed that we just ducked another Winter blizzard; the extreme east coast didn't get off so easy. Well shucks, at least we didn't have it as bad a these folks. No; I didn't go shopping for discounted values, on Sunday. Yes, Mom & Dad went down to feed Pickle. And the birds.
