It's a pretty simple concept, really. Eliminating the cause of the problem, eliminates the symptoms, and then the problem itself. A doctor would treat the cause of a malady, not merely the symptoms. The worldwide problem de jour is terrorism, and since 99% of today's terrorism is caused by Muslims, eliminating Muslims will almost completely eradicate terrorism. How to eradicate and eliminate Muslims? Simple. Track down all known terrorists and mercilessly whack them: no criminal or civil trials, but use rather military tribunals, with intensive torture and interrogation, and then execute all of them. As far as "moderate" or "peaceful" Muslims, I don't know any, have never seen one, and don't believe they exist. All Muslims are terrorists; it's merely a matter of degree. "Sleeper Cells" are the worst, having lain dormant for months or years. By following the deviant cult teachings of Islam, one is a murderer. The Koran preaches murder and death and terror, and Islam puts it into practice on a scale not seen for a few hundred years. Diversity is perversity. All Muslims in the US should be deported to any Muslim country, preferably Afghanistan, where they could rebuild the hellhole with what we've taught them. We need to drain the Muslim swamp here in America. We also need to shut down terrorist-aiding and abetting fronts like CAIR and AMC, try and imprison their personnel for both treason and sedition, and summarily execute them. The Blizzard of '03.
A two-part Mega Winter Storm hit the Mid-Atlantic Region, dumping 3" of new snow on us on Saturday, but nothing like what they got south of here in Baltimore, Washington and in Virginia, or out in the Midwest. No complaints, though. I repaired the JD SkidLoader's 7ft plow blade pins on Friday, was in by 9am on Saturday, and plowed the 20ac complex out in under 2hrs. By Sunday morning, we had another 4". New England had it's Blizzard of '78 (27" of snow), The Blizzard of '93 (24" of snow) and we had the The Blizzard of '96 (42" of snow). This isn't even going to be close. But, were you prepared?
When I got up Sunday morning at 4am to feed the cats, logon to the world for weather and news, and then go back to sleep for a few hours, it wasn't snowing. I did the normal routine computer maintenance with Norton SystemWorks 2003: trash file erasure, WinXP error fix, defrag, etc, and went back to sleep for a couple of hours. As I got back up at 9:30am, it was coming down fast and furious. Prediction of 1-2 feet were all over the local weather websites and TV. I skipped the morning shower and headed down to the Garden Center Complex, to set Pickle up with enough wet and dry food, as I probably wouldn't get back down for 1-2 days. And I sure didn't want to repeat my experience in The Blizzard of '96. The roads were almost empty.
All the Web's weather sites were swamped with users, on Sunday and Monday, and my ultra-fast cable modem acted more like a dial-up, when I tried to access those sites for news and information. Drat. York, PA, was definitely socked-in by snow.
On Monday morning, I called a local farmer 5 miles south of my Garden Center & Nursery Complex, who does contract snowplowing in the Winter, to get me plowed out on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm afraid my skidloader and 7ft plow wouldn't handle this amount of snow. I was stuck inside all day Monday, waiting for the condo association's contractor to get us plowed out. Out of sheer boredom, I started a Blizzard of '03 thread on www.GlockTalk.com, as I usually do during winter storms, and it ran 6 pages.
By 12noon Monday, the storm had abated here in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and moved into the Northeast. 30-50mph winds whipped-up the snow and formed drifts 10-15ft high. I couldn't see out of my condo's first floor windows. The front and back doors were drifted-shut. I couldn't get outta here if I wanted to! Final tally: 29" in York. We got 34" at the Garden Center. Parts of Western Maryland got 49".
I arrived at the GC&N Complex on Wednesday, at 8am, met the farmer, and he spent 2½ hrs plowing almost 3 (of 20) acres of driveways and parking lots. After getting into the Main Retail Building, at around 11am, I saw Greenhouses 2,3 and 4, which had collapsed, crushed by thousands of tons of heavy, wet snow. I was shocked; those Brady Greenhouses are the finest, best-built quonset huts available in North America, built to US mil-spec standards. I was stunned; they've withstood The Blizzards of '93 and '96, while thousands of lesser greenhouses in the Mid-Atlantic Region, collapsed. We're doing an "autopsy", this weekend.
On Thursday, I met with the insurance adjuster and my landscape foreman, received guidelines for submitting estimates and invoice, and formulated a plan for temporarily rebuilding the 3 greenhouses to get us through the rest of the Winter, and 100% back in business by late Spring, or early Summer. I shot dozens of digital pics, and will post a special page so you can view the damage, and provide more details on what I'm doing to remedy and ameliorate the disaster.
I had one of my employees shovelling 5-6ft of snow off of the Main Retail Building's roofs, so they wouldn't collapse if we get the heavy rains and ice storms predicted for the weekend. heck, I'm ready for Spring, right now.
