If it sometimes seems like the American cultural mainstream is ignorant of the role of Christianity in the founding of the United States, or even hostile towards it, that’s because it is.

The story told about America’s founding by the corporate media, book publishers, libraries and other institutions is one in which the Christian faith, so central to our history and founding, is almost wholly absent. The crisis we face today is existential. Too many Americans, both native-born and naturalized, have been taught to despise their country.

I don’t mean that anecdotally. A recent report by conservative book publisher Brave Books analyzed more than 300 books across 25 reading lists curated by children’s publishers, public libraries, and other institutions for our country’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The report found that these lists contain zero titles that directly addressed religious liberty, faith, or the role of Christianity in the founding of the United States.

Instead, the books on these reading lists included titles like Ibram X. Kendi’s Stamped for Kids and Nikole Hannah-Jones’ Born on the Water, a picture book that’s part of the discredited and ahistorical 1619 Project. According to Brave Books, the central themes of these reading lists were the American Revolution, minority perspectives, Black history, civil rights and women’s history. But nothing about the Christian faith — or even about religious freedom, which is enshrined in our First Amendment.

In other words, the lists are nothing more than left-wing propaganda designed to erode patriotism and reframe American history as a catalogue of crimes rather than a noble endeavor in republican self-government. Their purpose is to destroy patriotism in the hearts and minds of young Americans and inculcate hatred and contempt for our history, our founders, and our people.

I mention this not because it will be news to anyone who has been paying attention to the drift of American culture over the past half-century, but because it illustrates what a fraught thing our 250th anniversary has become. Celebrating this milestone as a nation, together, is no longer possible because, practically speaking, we are no longer a single nation.

The simple yet shocking reality is that generations of Americans have been taught since early childhood to hate their country and despise their heritage. How can you celebrate a nation you have been taught is morally corrupt, hypocritical, and responsible for a legacy of oppression and violence? You can’t, which is why so many Americans are greeting our semiquincentennial with a shrug or an apology.

And that points to a deeper problem with the state of America in 2026, a problem that won’t be solved with better reading lists or institutional reform or a GOP victory in 2026 or 2028. The problem is this: too many people in this country either despise America or are completely indifferent to it.

Among these are the tens of millions of foreigners now living in the United States who don’t just reject the natural law principles upon which our form of government rests, but also have no intention of adopting American culture or an American way of life. Many of them have made little or no effort even to learn the English language. They are here, essentially, to make money, and have no real vested interest in America as such.

Many others are not just indifferent but actively hostile toward their adopted country. This tendency seems especially pronounced among the adult children of immigrants, who grew up in the United States but were taught by liberal public schools and the mainstream culture to despise their country and resent it. They essentially revived the Third World politics of their parents’ home countries and adopted the anti-colonialist mentality of their leftist teachers and professors.

This wasn’t supposed to happen. For a long time, open-borders advocates in academia and the media argued that the Third World politics of immigrants would get washed out through assimilation, and by the time second- and third-generation immigrant families gained real political power, they would have shed their Third World sensibilities. But what we have found out is that under conditions of mass immigration, that simply isn’t how it works. Instead of shedding their third-worldism, immigrants and their children are assimilated into an American mainstream that itself has been captured by Third World politics.

The predictable result is a growing category of Americans, both immigrant and native-born, who are not merely indifferent toward their country but actively despise it. Such people now account for something like half our population, including both the native-born and recent immigrants and the children of recent immigrants. These are the people who reliably vote Democrat, for candidates and agendas bent on remaking the U.S. into something other than what our founders created and intended. They follow Nikole Hannah-Jones and Ibram X. Kendi, placing the “true” American founding in 1619 because to them, America was founded on exploitation and violence — a legacy that continues to the present day.

Consider the cadre of candidates connected to the Democrats Socialists of America that are finding electoral success in deep-blue areas. In New York, self-described democratic socialist Aber Kwas, an American-born daughter of Palestinian refugees, just won the Democratic primary for State Senate in District 12 (Queens). Kwas has said publicly that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were America’s fault, brought on by our supposed “system of capitalism, racism, white supremacy and Islamophobia.”

As the DSA continues its takeover of the Democratic Party establishment, this kind of anti-American rhetoric hardly stands out anymore. It is regularly espoused by New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Reps. Rashida Tlaib, AOC, and others. And those who hold such views appear to be ascendent within the party. All three of the New York candidates Mamdani endorsed won their primaries this week; all three of them are avowed socialists with virulently anti-American views. One of them, Darializa Avila Chevalier, was a founder of was a founder of Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), an anti-American, antisemitic organization with the stated goal to “undermine and eradicate America,” and achieve “the total eradication of Western civilization” through the use of violence.

Such people cannot celebrate 250 years of American history because they are ashamed of that history and they are opposed to the very existence of America as it is today. And it’s not just radical socialist candidates in New York. Just last week an Economist/YouGov survey found that 38 percent of Democrats admitted they are ashamed to be Americans. Another recent survey found less than half of Democrats agreed with the statement, “I am proud to be an American.” And a new NBC News poll found that overall, 56 percent of Americans are proud of their country, but only 29 of Democrats.

The message, injected into our cultural mainstream for decades now, that America is fundamentally imperialistic and exploitative, has gotten through. We now have large numbers of Americans that might at times pay lip service to things like free speech, separation of powers, and civil rights, but they don’t really believe in these things because they don’t really believe in America. They will gladly cheat in elections, for example, if they can get away with it, or pack the courts if the judiciary impedes their agenda. They don’t really believe in equal treatment under the law, and have no real interest in preserving the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. They think these things were just cynical ploys to oppress women and blacks, or to expand American empire, and they hope to amass enough raw political power to stage a revolution, jettison all of it, and institute a new form of government that treats citizens differently based on which group they belong to.

This is an existential crisis for our country. The conditions for the crisis were created by both Democrats and Republicans over the course of decades. Both parties supported open borders and multiculturalism, and demonized anyone who objected that radically changing the ethnic makeup of the country through mass immigration would imperil the republic. But those who objected were right. Mass immigration and multiculturalism are a fatal combination, and here on the eve of our 250th anniversary, they have brought forth their poisoned fruit.

What can be done about it? One immediate step that could be taken, if the Trump administration and the GOP had the political will (which they don’t seem to right now) would be mass deportations coupled with mass denaturalization. Get the people who have come here only to make money, or stage a revolution, out of the country. Mobilize the National Guard, if that’s what it takes. If American cities riot, as they did in Minneapolis, send the National Guard into those places and declare martial law. If Democrat mayors and governors impede these operations, arrest them.

If that were accomplished, the native-born Americans who hate our country could probably be managed and contained. Removing illegal immigrants and anti-American naturalized citizens would deprive them of a crucial voting bloc and support. It is still the case, even at this late hour, that most Americans love their country and don’t want to see it fundamentally transformed. But time is running out, and if patriotic leaders don’t act decisively, there’s a good chance America as we know it today won’t be around to celebrate the 275th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

A Day In The Life.

Up at 7:00a on Saturday, a warm, 73°F, very humid, heavily-overcast, breezy morning, I left the AC at 73°, made coffee, fired-up the Win-7 Pentium HP Desktop to let its 32 million lines of code load, hadbreakfast, had a couple smokes in the garage and checked the leftover errands list. Just the pharmacy 1 Rx p/u. And I'll go over there in a few hours to get it. Maybe stop at the beer store to get a 40-pack case of Rolling Rock. I scanned the weather and the breaking news websites, tuned into a "CP Show" Podcast 12-3 on local WSBA-910, and relaxed for the morning.

I checked the weather maps and news headlines; nothing special -- a few showers coming, but 100°+ temps are coming for 4-5 days, starting Monday. Ugly stuff ahead.

I left at 1p, for the 2 stops, and traffic was amazingly light, for a Saturday. Back home in 30mins, I unloaded, watched Qualifying Trialks for the upcoming Indy Car Race. After dinner, I watched the evening news, re-scanned the weather and news on the computer, to check the coming week's 100°+ forecast. Mmmmm, going to be nasty. I watched History's "American Pickers" reruns until 1a, and unplugged.

Up at 8a on Sunday, a heavily-overcast, very warm 73°, no breeze morning, I left the AC at 73°, made Kna Coffee, and checked the news and weather websites. I finally got the Canon Printer to work again, and printed out nearly a dozen medical receipts in a temp folder on C:/ drive, for this year's income taxes. I watched the F-1 Austrian GP highlights in YT. I started the first of two loads of laundry, tiring quickly from so many trips up the stairs.

No errands, but I had some niggling paperwork to do, finish laundry and I tuned into the evening news, then switched to History's "Food That Built America" and TWC's "Deadline To Disaster" until 12:30a, and quit for the night.

Awake several times in the early morning, I finally got up at 8a, on MOnday, to a partly sunny, warm 71° morning, I made coffee, fired-up the HP Desktop, had a couple smokes in he garage, and scanned the news and weather sites. Damn, the Sciatica pain's back, after 13 days of absence, and it's awful. I'm taking 250mg Bayer Aspirin and when needed, 50mg Tramadol, for the pain.

I had 3 stops on my usual Monday trip down south of York, and with temps forecast to only reach 88° (it actually hit 94°), it'd be a nice drive. I left at 12:15p, made the 3 stops, and was back by 1:15. A Weiss Market delivery was scheduled for 2-4p, and was completed around 3:45. I took a short 1hr nap, watched the evening news, and switched to History's :Wptld War II" series for almost 3hrs. Won't do that again; a waste of time. After nodding-off innumerable times, I was ready for sleep, and unplugged at 11:45p.

Awake 2x from the garbage and recycle trucks coming thru the neighbothood at 5:30-6a, I went back to sleep until 8, on Tuesday, and then started the day, on my terms. I made coffee, scanned the weather and news sites, and tuned into the "CP Show" from 9-12.

Sherry called to reschedule today's visit to tomorrow, so I did some quick front garden weeding, buttoned-up the condo to cut down on heat coming thru windows/glass doors, and stayed inside for the rest of the afternoon. Tomorrow thru Saturday are going to be very nasty days for me, with COPD, and I'll be staying inside, too.

I did some weeding on the back patio garden, took a 90min snooze, had dinner and watched the evening news. Discovey's "Secret of Skinwalker Ranch" was on, so I watched until 12 midnight, and unplugged.

Awake at 7a from the trademen next door hammering and sawing, and the lawn care crews mowing and debris blowing, I woke-up finally up at 8a, on Wednesday, a blue sky, clear already 83° and very humid, I made coffee, had a couple smokes in the now open garage, and fired-up the HP Desktop. I got an email from Sherry about today's heat and her 1p visit, and we decided to reschedule it to a cooler day.

Happy 250th Birthday, America!

I had a few minor condo chores and some paperwork to do, plus a nap to take, for the afternoon, so although I'd miss seeing Sherry, it's the smart thing to do, in this dangerous weather. 103° on my back patio, right now. No breeze. Brutal. I skipped food; too hot to eat, then watched the news. I switched to Discovery's "Expedition Unknown" until 1a, and bagged it for the night.

Up at 8:30a on Thursday, a clear, breezy, already 86° morning, and an Amazon delivery rang the bell. I got that inside and unpacked, made coffee and fired-up the computer. After scanning the weather and news websites, I went out on the back patio for a smoke. 103°... 11:45a... wowzer, that was fast. With the 89% humidity, it is OFFICIALLY AWFUL, outside! I hit the LR couch for 3½hrs of add'l sleep; nice

I skipped both lunch and dinner -- no appetite in hot weather -- watched some news, called Sherry to see how she was doing, and ger brood were doing, and made an early night of it, by 11p. Good night, Irene.

Awake and up at 6:45a on Friday, another forecast mega-hot ~~100+~~ 102° w/ 79% humidity, day-in-hell, I made a carafe of Kona Coffee, had half a cup, and hit the LR couch, for "a few minutes". Heh, I finally woke-up at 11:45a. I had much more coffee, got ready for the day, and did a couple of condo chores. The flora and fauna are still suffering, out there. We need rain.

I put-up my American Flag, did some garage cleam-up, and re-garaged the Jeep. By 6p, the evening news was on and every program was America 250 oriented, so that was the bill o' fare for the evening. I watched, with great amusement, all the news clip of commies filth and socialist sewage denigrating America, and can only pray that they're roundly and soundly defeated in Novenber, or we're screwed. Light a candle. I watched the fireworks and 250th Celebrations until 11:00, and closed down for the day.

Tomorrow starts a new week, here in the "Journal", and except for an early week Memorial Luncheon for my late cousin Buddy, it's a clear weekl. I'll talk with Sherry over the weekend, and we'll try to get a day for us, in the coming week. Happy 250th to everyone reading this!

What the Reflecting Pool Reflects About America.

Over the last two weeks, the reflecting pool at the Lincoln Memorial has been mentioned over 600 times in various news media outlets. During the same period, the Islamic terrorist massacres of Christians in Nigeria have only been mentioned around 40 times. Trump Derangement Syndrome in liquid form

Why is the status of the algae in the reflecting pool more important than the lives of dozens of human beings? Part of the answer may lie in the inconvenient truth about who is doing the killing in Nigeria and who is being killed, but the other is Trump Derangement Syndrome in liquid form.

The renovation of the reflecting pool should be as apolitical as anything gets. Critical race theory has thus far failed to connect the reflecting pool to systemic racism (though no doubt if asked, its professors will claim that it was built by slaves), gender critical theory has nothing to say about the reflecting pool and ‘heteronormativity’ and the Marxists have failed to connect it to capitalism. Even the Hamas supporters have failed to show up waving their terrorist flags.

Unlike White House renovations and the battles over the renaming of the Lincoln Center, fixing the reflecting pool offers no specific benefits to Trump. And renovating it ought to have been a completely apolitical bipartisan issue with Democrats and Republicans agreeing to fix it up.

When the pool was previously renovated under Obama, Republicans did not jeer or complain even though the repairs proved woefully inadequate and shortly after the pool opened, it had to be closed again and cleaned of a massive algae outbreak that turned the whole pool green.

Republicans and conservatives did not view the algae outbreak as some sort of vindication and FOX News did not run minute-by-minute coverage of the color of the reflecting pool because they wanted a good, clean reflecting pool, and understood that a nearly century old pool was difficult to maintain, and that the challenges were not reflective of a particular administration.

That’s in sharp contrast to the media mania surrounding Trump’s renovation of the pool.

What the reflecting pool really reflects then is Trump Derangement Syndrome in its purest state. There is nothing to muck the waters with except the obsession with opposing anything that President Trump does simply because he’s doing it. And the fact that the media has provided more coverage to the reflecting pool than some regional wars shows what its base looks like.

The media is now filled with headline coverage from major media stories such as “What Color Is the Reflecting Pool? An Investigation” from The Atlantic, “Reflecting Pool woes: Trump administration turns to hydrogen peroxide in latest bid to beat back algae” from CNN, “Why the Washington DC Reflecting Pool became a global talking point” from the BBC and “What I Saw at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool Monday Afternoon” from the Wall Street Journal.

Two weeks of relentless media coverage of the reflecting pool reflects the fact that the media caters to a demographic that is obsessed with the most minute and petty score settling with Trump and that any story no matter how objectively unimportant can be blown up for its sake.

The media’s radical leftist turn has left it dependent on two demographics, the smallest one of leftists, and the larger one of older white liberals who are obsessed with social media narratives about Trump even while caring very little about the socialist policy agitprop that drives the Left.

It’s this latter demographic that pushes the media into orgies of idiocy that have to be seen to be believed. The Left wants to contend that Trump is a manifestion of heterocapitalist white supremacy, while the TDS’ers want stories about how Trump lies about his weight, has trouble walking down the stairs, drinks too much diet coke, raped everyone between New York and California, and how he ruined the reflecting pool. And since this is the demographic that keeps the New York Times, the Washington Post, MSNBC (MS NOW) and CNN afloat, the end result is not only a wildly biased media, but a fundamentally malicious and unserious one.

Jeering the renovation of the reflecting pool isn’t progressive: it’s the kind of thing done by those who no longer know the difference between defeating their political opponents and defeating America. Leftists hate Trump because they hate America while TDSers hate America because they hate Trump. It’s why polls show that this particular demographic answers that it’s not proud of America when Trump is in office, but has pride in America when Democrats take power.

The leftist hostility to America at least reflects a consistent philosophy while TDS is a kind of social contagion primarily manifesting among older white female liberals whose worldview is derived from social media and whose politics comes down to opposing anything Trump does.

That includes renovating the reflecting pool.

The Lincoln Memorial and the reflecting pool have arguably played more of a cultural role in liberal events with numerous rallies trying to recapture the spirit of MLK’s speech. Liberals should want to see the pool restored to its original reflective quality, ‘reflecting the heavens’ and the Washington Monument, testifying to George Washington’s role in envisioning reflecting pools in the local architecture, and providing a majestic setting for national events.

When liberals root for the restoration of the reflecting pool to fail, they’re telling on themselves.

The reflecting pool started life as a vision, but also as a way to drain the swamps of D.C. and capture the excess water. The difficulty in maintaining the massive pool has posed a challenge for over a century, but it’s also a testament to the idea that Washington D.C. could be cleaned up. Today, liberals seem to celebrate the idea that it has to stay dirty and jeer Trump for trying to clean up its crime problem, its filth and waste and the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool.

But the pool is also a promise. It offers us a chance to see America and some of its greatest landmarks as they should be. The pool can reflect the petty hatreds, the small-minded malice and miserable schadenfreude of Trump Derangement Syndrome or a bright American future./p>

The Socialists Are Coming... for the Democrats.

Scratch a Democrat, and you’ll find a communist underneath their lizard skin. Last week’s elections in New York City just confirmed what we already knew. The leftists are ascendant, and the alleged moderates — who were also leftists — are very upset. Think of this as like #MeToo. Remember that? That campaign against gropey, rapey people wasn’t really a fight about gropey, rapey people. Democrats like gropey, rapey people. Younger, primarily hard-left women just pretended not to in order to gain a political advantage over older establishment figures within the Democrat universe. #MeToo was simply about younger leftists trying to take power from older leftists.

This neo-communist uprising is similar. You have a calcified, geriatric Democrat establishment that has been sitting in power for two generations. The Boomers held on and essentially kept the Gen X folks from taking their turn, and have continued sitting in power and denying the millennials their turn—how old is Nancy Pelosi anyway? This leftist stuff is a way to chip the crusties out of their concrete-encased sinecures. And it’s working. In New York City, the Democrat incumbents who were tossed out were huge power brokers. These were big-deal Democrats. And they got creamed by a bunch of Third Worldy commies who managed to take advantage of the dismal participation rates in primary elections thanks to their heavy organizing and focused forces. Victory goes to those who show up, and the commies showed up.

When you look at this as a power struggle, rather than a purely ideological struggle, things begin to make more sense. Also, look where it happened. The pinkos who surfed to victory on the Marxist wave were in some of the most left-wing districts in the country. We have yet to see any of these pinko types actually beat a moderate Democrat in a blue or purple state. Now, Graham Platner, when he’s not busy touching himself in an outhouse or fantasizing about performing unnatural acts upon a burglar, is one of these. The dummkopf with the totenkopf is running against the rigorously normal Susan Collins, and he’s probably going to lose. Maine just isn’t inner-city New York City. There are a few of these folks running in places like Montana, but it’s not going to work. There’s no appetite in normal America for aggressive Marxists. That’s why this is all really more of a power struggle between generations within the Democrat Party.

You can also think of it in terms of the Tea Party. It makes an interesting exercise in comparing and contrasting. The Republicans also went through a phase where they had to get rid of a lot of the old-school establishment folks who weren’t budging. There’s still a lot of not budging—look at the dinosaurs resisting the SAVE Act, mostly because they are mad because Trump and the voters don’t respect them. But the hero vs. RINO ratio is a lot better than it used to be. I was there. I remember the Bush-era losercons and how they fled and flopped aimlessly in opposition to Barack Obama. Well, we still have our losers, but they are going away. These processes take time.

In the Tea Party, you had a decentralized rising of people who actually liked America and were tired of what they saw as un-American activities, like bailouts for giant corporations, by the Republican establishment. They would show up with tricorner hats and pick up the garbage after their rallies, rallies that were spontaneously organized and not astroturfed by shadowy communist billionaires. It was organic. And it drew massive resistance from the establishment. That was the real fight for the Tea Party—the GOP. When the establishment thought they had gotten rid of these upstarts, such that they felt they could nominate the ridiculous Mitt Romney, they were wrong. The Tea Party set the foundation for Donald Trump. You need to understand that what people call Trumpism is largely the Tea Party ideology; Donald Trump did not create a new ideology, he just cleverly and effectively became the avatar of a rising one that put America first.

Let’s compare and contrast that with the rise of the Democrat socialists. They have a similar contempt for their own party—they will tell you outright that they’re only using the Democrat Party as a tool to take power. Their icon, Bernie Sanders, is not even officially a Democrat. He’s an independent. There is also a constituency component. The Tea Party was primarily middle-class white folks, usually from the suburbs or rural areas. There were a lot of them, all spread out over the country. The socialists are different. They are concentrated in blue cities, not spread out. They have a red-green alliance. It’s all very Third World, with a union between 7th-century religious fanaticism and 19th-century Marxist thought. There’s a huge tension there, which is currently suppressed in the pursuit of political power. Now, when they get power, those cracks will become apparent. We recently saw in some jurisdiction in Michigan a bunch of leftists outraged because the Muslim-dominated city council wasn’t going to play their pride games or wave their pride flags. The communists felt betrayed. Well, the communists always get betrayed when they ally with Muslims. They did during the Iranian revolution, with the mullahs shooting the commies after taking power. I guess you can’t paint anybody all black.

In any case, what this is is a hostile takeover by a young and energetic insurgency against an old and sclerotic regime. It is activist-driven in the sense that these people do nothing but be activists. The Tea Party didn’t start that way. They were just normal people with real lives who didn’t cosplay as revolutionaries; they simply wanted to be heard. They believed in America and the American dream and felt those were being wrongly taken from them. They were not indoctrinated and trained, and they had no real organization at the national level. It was all decentralized, with shared goals based on affinity, not on the hierarchy imposed by the astroturfers as with the DSA.

That is a key weakness of the socialists. Being socialists, they demand a rigid hierarchy and absolute obedience. It’s very, very centralized. There’s no room for nuance. There are certain things you have to believe, and you just cannot believe anything else if you’re one of their candidates. You’ve got to hate America, you’ve got to hate the Jews, and you’ve got to love the Third World terrorists. You’ve also got to agree with all the other weird trans stuff, as well as redistributing the means of production garbage. There’s no room for nuance. There’s no room for heretics, because this is a religious crusade for the crusaders.

And while this is all fine and dandy in the immigrant and liberal arts graduate failsons communities in places like New York City, that’s generally not going to work elsewhere. The Democrats know what works elsewhere. It’s running phonies like Abigail Spanberger, who pretended to be a bipartisan common-sense moderate, and then governs as a leftist. She sought to fool the voters. These new socialists aren’t trying to fool anybody. They’re proud of believing that we should not have police and not have prisons and not have normal people outside of gulags, and they don’t hide it. Have you noticed there’s a rich treasure trove of past statements from all of these people that totally turn off the normals? There’s Graham Platner, with his Nazi tattoo and his desire to pleasure his grandma—yeah, that was this week’s revelation—as well as demonic blasphemy imp James Talarico’s recently revealed statement that he hates Christianity. Yeah, that’s going to go over well in Texas, almost as well as the veganism stuff.

The bottom line is that the socialists are really only competitive when they’re up against another Democrat in a deep blue district. Sure, some of the Democrats nationally are terrified by these guerrillas—for example, Gavin Newsom just came out for a national billionaire tax, which even he knows is idiotic—but you shouldn’t count the Democrat establishment out yet. It’s going to fight back and try to limit the infection to districts that are already extremely left-wing. But the revolting peasants aren’t going to quit anytime soon. They may even get somebody on a national ticket who represents their insanity. And that’s going to be a hell of a hard sell to normal people.

As ever, the stupid Republicans may be saved by the evil Democrats.
