it really doesn't matter, as long as "the truth" gets disseminated to the American Public; at least those 70% who truly care and aren't engrossed in "American Idiot/ Idol" and "Dancing With The Stupids/ Stars" bullshit crapploa TV. Around The Garden Center™

After two days of near 90°F weather, it was nice to get Friday's weather in the mid-70s. Retail traffic was light to moderate, but I fully expect this Memorial Day Weekend's traffic to be so light, it's almost not worth opening up. But we have to for those shoppers who expect us to be open, want plants and mulch, and chit-chat. It's a tradition that we'll be closed on Monday, Memorial Day, to Honor Those Who Have give, and Those Who Have Given All. I will fly my company's flags at half-mast in their honor.

Since Memorial Day Weekend was at hand, I had no idea we'd be very busy, but moderately more than usual. Customers aplenty. And a new $2,700 LSCP job came-in. One of many we've received since opening on April 17th. I have about 11 LSCP Estimates out in customers' hands, with another 20+ coming from Rich. We have work on "The List" to get us through July 7th, but need to fill-up the schedule beyond that, and we shall do so.

I bought a 1-Tb 'My Book" Western Digital HD from Best Buy in York (PA), and it wouldn't work in either Win-XP or Win-7, so I returned it to BB on Saturday afternoon, and got a new unit. No questions asked; just a simple exchange at the 'Geek Counter'. Good store; good people.

Both front counter computers, running Win-XP Pro "have now shit the bed". We depend upon them for our retail sales etc, and I can't get any of the apps to work on computer-register #1, so we're using computer-register #2 to limp through the Memorial Day Weekend. I've called J&M Systems, who set them up with Radiant Synchronic's CounterPoint - which I believe is causing the problem - and they can't figure it out. All the software error messages point to it. Mark is due for a Tuesday service call, and possibly reinstall my "old" RAID 0 unit, reinstall the app and port the data over, so we're up and running again. More on this later. Receipts on Sunday were light, and IMO, it wasn't even worth being open. Mercifully, we're closed on Monday's Memorial Day. Mark's service call is now changed to Friday morning, as of Tuesday afternoon.

On Saturday evening, I heard chirping chirping coming from my LR fireplace chimney; it was a tiny bird who'd flown into the smokestack cap and fell into the abyss. I opened-up the damper, tightened-up the fire screen and put a heavy towel over top opening, hoping that s/he'd drop down into the fireplace and I could rescue him/her. The chirping grew louder with the damper open, but still no sign of the actual bird. I checked every half-hour, but nothing except louder chirping.

The chirping stopped Monday evening; the bird expired despite my physical effort to rescue him/ her. I couldn't free it in time to save it after 3-4 days. Bummer.

Heavy-duty t-storms moved through the Southern Penna Area on Monday evening, cancelling-out power several times; luckily I have an APC Power Saver, good for 15 mins without interruption. The streets were full of 6" water and the front lawns were under 2-3" of water. Wow; what a storm. Didn't last long; 10-15 mins or so. Not back drop at the GC& Complex, though.

Tuesday's retail business was very light until 4pm, when we were deluged by a dozen customers buying trees & shrubs, and we accommodated them all. in the "early years" of 1991 - 1996, we stayed open until 9pm, using banks for 1,000w spotlights and hi-power flashlights to find things for people. Those 16-18hr days were killers. Never again. If people can't get here by 4pm, and leave at 5pm, there are always weekend hours; Saturdays 8am-5pm, nd Sunday 11am-4pm. We do close on Sundays in July and August, and reopen the Sunday hours in Sept-Oct.

Rich and his lovely wife made it back *alive* from Israel, with the bus tours, and we jumped into the LSCP Estimates right away, at an 8am site meeting. I had a score of questions on several multi-phase estimates, which he answered, and I was able to get them done fairly quickly. I'll be working the remainder of the week of the other phases of 3-6 more estimates. It's a good feeling getting things done, finally.

My 21-yr old GE Microwave, GE Dishwasher and GE-RCA Icemaker all *went south* with a 2 month period, so I called around York to see who handles these ancient appliances. Turns out on Triple A Appliance does, and they'll be coming next week for to replace to Icemaker; perhaps I'll have them replace to microwave and dishwasher, as well.

The "Virtual Cabin"™: A Novella

Since I left work at 4pm on Saturday to exchange the 1-Tb, I decided to go to The Cabin for the rest of the day and night. I went home, fed the two condo cats, and left for the mountains. Jenny was happy to see me, and after unloading supplies into The Cabin, decided to take her for a ride into Adam's Junction for a walk downtown, visiting the various storefronts. I stopped-in at The General Store, the Vet's, ACE Hardware, the Rite-Aid drugstore, the supermarket and a few other places, mostly to meet people, but to pick-up a few items I needed. 90% of the remembered me from that Town Hall Mtg with the Jack-Booted DHS Thugs. Jenny was always welcomed by everyone. I even ran into two of the Militia Crazies who'd invaded my property a few months ago.

I came back to York for work on Sunday, but since it was a short day - 11am to 4pm - I left for The Cabin again, to get away from it all, until I HaD to be a my Folks' Home for a 2pm Memorial Day lunch. I showered and changed into clean clothes, poured a small (neat) snifter of 50-yr old Brandy, and settled back into my overstuffed, comfy leather chair to do some more reading. No Cuban Cigar (don't ask), this time; I just wasn't in the mood. I Lit a Marlboro. I snipped the Brandy, petted Jenny and just relaxed.

I went back to The Cabin on Thursday, my usual day off, refilled Jenny's wet food, dryfood and water dishes, did some housecleaning, checked the Choice One alarm system, sprayed Thistle and weeds around The Cabin, and took a short hike to one of the nearest bear birthing dens, which was empty. All was okay.

Since moving into The Cabin, I've gotten into the habit of always carrying either my Bushmaster AR-10 w/.308 NATO round, or Remy 11-87 12ga AutoLoader or Remy 870 Pump 12ga - both with .00 buck of slugs, my Beowulf .50cal, and of course, my Kimber 1911 .45cal "Eclipse Target II" (daily carry piece). But today, as hot and humid as it was, I only took the .45 along. I left the .50cal laying on the picnic table, on the front deck, within quick reach.

While I was out speaying weeds, three pick-up truck drovge down the long front drive, and as I went back to the front deck to get my Beowulr .50cal 1/ 11-round mags, 6 guys junped out, apparently unarmed, and sat down with me at the table. March 12th">Bo, Boyd, Frank, Dewey, Chuck and Bubba were the Crazy Militia, who "visited" me a few months ago and who wanted me to join and to begin overthrowing the local government and authorities, and wanted me to join-up. I politely said "no thanks", as I have a business also 100 miles south of here, 11 employees and am struggling to recuperate from Obama's last year's disastrous economy. They promised me many, many thousands in meth money if they could use The Cabin for a meth lab, or cocaine shipping point. I also said, "no thanks". Obviously pissed-off, Dewey drew a .38 and pointed it at my chest. I quickly slid the Kimber .45 out of of Galco Fed Paddle Holster, and shot him in the forehed, chin and neck, 3x. The 5 others ran to their trucks and took-off like a "fart-in-church". Dewey went backwards onto the deck, bleeding like a stuck redneck pig, that he was.

I called Sheriff Chief Roy Bunce Bunce, Corporal Clay Atler, the Chief's son-in-law and 911, for medical aid. Dewey was already dead by the time he hit the deck; I knew that after checking his vitals. I waited for the authorities and medical to arrive, gave them a factual statement, waited until they put Dewey into a body bag, got out the garden hose, and cleaned-off the deck and table and chair. Both Roy and Clay said that I was "marked" now, and that my life was in grave danger if I visited Adam's Junction again. The Militia would reform and kill me, no question. After 3 tours ('71-'74) in Nam with 5th Special Forces/ Green Berets, I wasn't all that worried. I can easily take care of myself; it's the civilians and Jenny I was concerned about. I'd relish killing all of the Militia Crazies, IMO!

So, it's finally come to this. Back on March 12th, 20-30 Crazy Militia invaded my property and demanded I join them. All I wanted to to do was be left alone, enjoying The Cabin, Jenny and Adam's Junction. Now, it looks like I'm going to have to go out on *covert missions*, as I did in the Nam, and kill them all, as they've declared "war on me", for both saying "no thanks" and killing Dewey. I'm not liking this at all. Roy and Clay understood, based upon my US Military background. They said they'd support me 100%, as long as it wasn't murder. I'd have to get the Militia member to draw and fire first, and then I could kill him. Not a nice choice, IMO. In Nam, we simply murdered the NVC or Charlie; no questions asked. That was our job in war. Here, it was going to be very different and dicey. DA's, grand juries and courts were going to greatly interfere with what needs doing, IMO.

Many Journal entries are best viewed in the Charrington Roughened and the Orlando typefaces. You may already have Century Gothic on your Windows-XP machine, and that's almost always used for the body copy or subheads, so grab it, if you don't already have it; you're reading it now. They're free from my website. Grab 'em! Save them to your HD, and install to C:/Windows/Fonts (folder), thru your WIN XP Control Panel > Fonts > File > Install New Font. Simple stuff; just takes a few minutes.

So what explained the anomaly? GISS's computerized temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal.
