at a meeting with my now-former realtor, a few weeks ago, he told me that although it's been 2½-years since I signed the commercial sales contract with him, "things are really improving now and the economy's getting much better". Really?
I hate it when someone is pissing down my back and telling me that it's raining.
Everywhere I go, I see more "Closed. Out Of Business", "For Sale", "Lease", "For Rent" signs on more and more and more businesses, either in strip malls, in office parks or on standalone buildings. I also see more homes empty and deserted, also with "For Sale" signs on the property. Every week, I hear about businesses, like mine, who operated profitably for 22+ years, going out-of-business, mainly for profitability reasons. When the point-in-time arrives that you can't make money, and begin to lose it on the bottom line, there's no longer a point to staying in business. Costs have just gotten wholly out-of-control. The Nation's economy been seriously damaged and tanking since 2009, when shit-for-brains Barry ∅bum-mulatto took over in DC. He told us all just what he was going to do to America, and 52% of America bought into it, elected and re-elected him.
No, I didn't re-sign the realtor's contract extension, and will be going with another, much larger commercial real estate seller, this week.
The nation's economy has been in the crapper for over 5 years, and is still circling the bowl, like a turd which just won't flush. Sure, Barry ∅bum-mulatto inherited a wobbly economy from GW Bush, but he's done nothing except intentionally drive it further and further into the toilet. He's a commie, doper, muslim, faggot, half-breed, Marxist, psychotic, socialist, narcissistic, fascist, America-hating racist Nigga©. The country's GDP (gross domestic product) was higher in every one of the 32 quarters during the Bush presidency, even the so-called "bad years of 2007-2008", than under any quarter of ∅bum-mulatto's ongoing disaster. It was higher under Clinton, Reagan, GHW Bush and believe it or not, Carter.
I warned that this was coming, way, way back in August, in September, in October, and in November, of 2008. And many, many times, since. We have had an ongoing coup d'état against the US Constitution, since January 2009, by el_residente Sambo&Co.
Frequently, your local diner owner and your neighborhood bartender, without a college degree between them, can tell you more about the economy than Washington and Wall Street's "bright lights". Unlike "Uncle Sambø has his hands so deep in my pockets, he's grabbing my socks!" the pundits, they know when the orders for steak and shrimp start to give way to meatloaf and tuna salad, and when "the usual" becomes beer instead of whiskey on the rocks, it's real bad and getting worse. They know when fewer people are coming through their doors, and they know that means all is not well on Main Street USA.
The egghead-assclowns in Washington, from Treasury to the Fed, were all projecting strong growth for the first quarter of 2014 – even after the first read came out saying the “growth” was 0.025 percent, or an annualized 0.1 percent – for the quarter. It doesn't get much worse than that. Or does it?
Very, very soon, it'll get 10-20x worse.
Next to the corrupt, criminal IRS, the criminal, lying and corrupt EPA is abject filth and garbage, run amok. They have NO stautory authority to make laws, without the authorization of the US Congress, but have been circumventing the US Constitution for two decades, allowed to do so by numerous US Supreme Court "rulings". The EPA is a rogue agency, with plenary power, and should be defunded and put out of business. Permanently.
Despite a 645-page "announcement" from the EPA on Monday, the American media scumbags dutifully stuck their collective heads back up their asses, and buried the story in their newspapers, broadcasts and websites. And when it leaked-out on the Net and FoxNews, the corrupt and complicit American media dutifully spun the economic lies into a gold-plated fairy tale. As if none of us will even notice what's going to happen to our electric bills, let alone prices for everything else which is energy-dependent. As id prices are rising fast enough now, the coming impact on everyone will be horrendous. Mark my words, today, when you write the checks, tomorrow.

A Day In The Life
Up at 6:30 on Friday morning to the sound of garbage trucks (recycled goods only units) picking-up their curbside bundles, it looked to be a repeat of yesterday – cloudy, rainy and 54°F – but the Summer weather was forecast to begin in earnest. I made the usual Fresh-Squeezed OJ and had several mugs of steaming hot, French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee, as well as an English Muffin w/ Peach Preserves. I had some things to help Becky with at 10am, and a stop at Dad's afterward, so I left at 9:30. Back home by 12:45pm, I was tired from all the morning's "projects", made a simple Duck-Rillettes Sandwich on Toast, and slumped on to the LR sofa to rest.
Last Friday, May 23rd, Heritage Lawn & Landscape Co sent two guys over to rip-out 50yrs worth of ivy, butterfly bushes, rose bushes and weeds along Dad's driveway's west side, next to a neighbor's house. They'd sprayed and killed it 2 weeks before, but getting the massive roots out took most of the day, even as 2 other workers joined-in. A 40yr old American Pink Dogwood (Cornus florida "Cherokee Princess") and a 60ft American Holly (Ilex opaca), in the ivy beds, had also been removed by a tree service company weeks
By 6pm, I had the streaming Mark Levin Show on, until 9, and I then continued with the John Batchelor Show, just from 9-11:15pm. I packed-it-in at 11:30pm, since I want to get to the drycleaners to pick-up laundered/starched/pressed shirts, and maybe go to Dad's – either today or tomorrow – to do some front foundation clean-up. Closed-down, Condo armed and me tired, I went upstairs for sleep.
Once again, the garbage trucks – regular trucks delayed because of Monday holiday – woke me at 6am, to another sunny, 51°F Spring morning. So many nice days in a row, I don't know how to handle it; heh. After the usual coffee and Del Monte® Mango/Passionfruit Chunks, I drove to the cleaners, and did a few other errands. Dad called at 1pm, and wanted to drive down to the old GC&N Complex, and look around. No, no pics; it's depressing to see how unkempt and overgrown it's gotten in just 2½ years. We spent the beautiful, sunny, 72°F afternoon, taking a long drive south, talking about 'old times, better times', driving thru the 20ac infrastructure. High for the day was 78°F, and when the breeze died-down, it got very warm. The ride down and back provided a glimpse into all the extensive PennDOT road
Up at 5am on Sunday, I'd soon wish I slept longer. A carbon copy of yesterday's beautiful 51°F morning weather, I enjoyed some fresh OJ, fed the birds and squirrels while the coffee steeped, checked my food shopping list, and the news and weather sites. I left at 9:15 to go to Weis Market, in East York. I had a list for myself and one for my Sister; Dad had gone to the Weis Market in West York on Friday afternoon, so he was set-up for the next 2 weeks. It took a full hour to find everything and I filled the upper and lower baskets in the cart. Two check-outs, 190 gas points, good until 7/12, and was finished by 10:30am. I delivered Becky's groceries, and went home to get my stuff into the 'fridge and freezer, since temps had already hit 75°F, with some humidity slowly moving into the area; tomorrow, we'd get the brunt of it from the South and West. I was up at 6am on Monday, to another nice, but significantly warmer, 63°F day to start-off. I immediately took some extra aspirin for my hip's niggling pain, made coffee and some OJ, and checked the weather and news sites. Temps were forecast to hit 85-88°F today and tomorrow, and t-storms would be here tomorrow and Wednesday, I called Dad and the window coverings installers had arrived, so I grabbed the usual morning shower, loaded laundry for wash later in the morning, and left at 9:30. The owner and her installer were there, working quickly and effortlessly on the pre-measured and pre-cut shades and blinds, for every window and door (except massive wooden front door). I drove Dad to nearby W-F Bank, so he could get some banking done, and back home. I went after dead heading hydrangeas and cutting back spent daffodils, until my hip started hurting, and then I had to quit. I'll resume tomorrow and Wednesday. The backyard's peonies are starting to open, so Dad and I will be cutting 20-30 for transport to our Families' Graves at Mt Wolf Cemetery and Mt Rose Cemetery, on Thursday morning, after the t-storms have moved thru, the night before, or on Friday after another round of t-storms. I laid down on the LR couch and snoozed for a few hours, waking-up in time for the evening's streaming Mark Levin Show, on until 9, and then continued watching a YT series I'd stumbled upon last week, called Homeland Security USA Border Wars, until 12:30am. Time for some sleep. Everything shut-down and Condo armed, I went upstairs.
I slept-in on Tuesday morning, until 7:45, remembering that I had to stay home for a UPS "signature required" delivery, for my Beowulf .50cal. 61°F at 8:15am. While coffee was steeping, I made fresh OJ, and checked the usual weather and news sites. White early in the morning, I opened-up the Condo for some air, but the humidity was uncomfortable, so I closed-down, and went to AC to ameliorate the moisture. I fed the squirrels and birds, did some weeding in the Condo's front gardens, used RoundUp® on the few remaining weeds around the backside, and after check the UPS website's tracking number for my package, I went for a walk down to Springettsbury Park. Lots of people playing tennis, jogging, volleyball and some just tanning on blankets. I walked over to the Rutter's Store, got some Marlboros and a pint of grapefruit juice. Temps

The rain on the skylights woke me at 6am on Thursday; heck of a large, slow-moving storm was on top of us all night. But without all the weather-related problems, as in the Midwest. Dad called at 7am to postpone the day's trips to the cemeteries, until things had a chance to dry-out; we'd gotten almost ½" overnight. Not feeling well, I just had coffee and some OJ, and skipped breakfast. I had a couple of morning appointments and a 1pm meeting with the new realtor at the GC&N Complex, to get the sales contract signed, and do an extensive walk-thru. Becky needed an emergency ride to the OSS Urgent Care Center, and she got Buddy, our Cousin, to take her there; I'd pick-up and bring her home after my realtor mtg, and a quick drive to Rite Aid, in Stewartstown. By 3pm I was roaring north on I-83 to the OSS Urgent Care Center, picked her up, went to CVS to get Rx meds, and took her home. My stomach was growling, but I was beyond hungry, and ignored it. After calling Dad on the return trip, we decided to visit the cemeteries on Friday morning, and of course, I had all supplies in a crate; we just had to cut the blooming peonies for the vases. Back by 5pm, I changed clothes, ate a pint of Hagen Dazs Coffee Ice Cream, and that was enough for today. Everything for the day had just gone sideways and I'd be glad to go to sleep and forget the whole damned day. I listened to the evening's streaming Mark Levin Show until 9pm, and then continued with the new episodes of "Alaska State Troopers", watched it until 11:45pm, then bagged it for the day.
Tomorrow starts a new week here in the "Journal", and several days are filled-up the my Condo cleaning ladies, Hopewell Heating & AC service call for both my Amana Furnace and Amana AC unit, as well as a trip to Becky's for her large tree installation at her Condo, and another visit to OSS for her knee. Dad needs help with some things around his place, and maybe I'll even have some time left to get a few of my things done.
Conundrum.
The definition of the word conundrum is "something that is puzzling or confusing". Here are six conundrums today in the United States of America:
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it! That pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st century. Makes you wonder who is doing the math.
These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering...
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't. Think about it... And last but not least,
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to all illegal aliens?

Obama: "Entrepreneurs Don't Build Businesses"
"Last week, President Barack Obama delivered some telling remarks to a fire station full of people in Roanoke, Virginia. I'll save you the trouble of reading the (long and uninspired) speech and provide you with the most interesting part:
"If you've got a business – you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." – President Barack Obama, July 13th, 2012.
It would be easy to respond with something along the lines of, "Somebody else made that happen? Who? Who magically imagined the product or service, started the business, built it up, and created the jobs? Who was it? The tooth fairy?" And to some extent, President Obama's statement is so ridiculous as to merit that sort of quick, flippant response.

However, he's not entirely wrong. This reminds me of an argument that Massachusetts Senate Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren would probably make. If he's talking about a mid-sized or large business, where an entrepreneur has hired additional employees, then at that point the business's success isn't purely that of its founder.
Employees add value to a business through work and ideas. That's why you hire employees, after all. Steve Jobs didn't invent every last detail of the phones, computers, and tablets to come out of Apple over the last decade. There were engineers working on those products who developed them. So, employees help entrepreneurs to build their business. "Somebody else" did indeed play a part in making that happen.
But what makes the president's remarks so inane is the totality of what he's saying. He's not saying that entrepreneurs and employees work together to build a business. It's not a collaborative effort. It's all thanks to the employees. Usually, I can understand the way the president's mind works on most issues by examining it through a pragmatic, liberal, or progressive framework. This one baffles me.
As I explained, I can see that he has some of a point, but he's still just obviously wrong on the broader point. Sure, the employees help to build the business, but the business itself wouldn't exist without the entrepreneur. So, to say to entrepreneurs and to business owners, "...you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen," is just wrong. It's silly. They did build that by setting the foundation for the business.
Entrepreneurs are almost always the hardest workers in their business. They work a simply insane number of hours to get their idea off the ground. If they succeed (and they face a tremendous risk if they don't), then they'll start to grow and to hire employees to help. Honestly, if I were an entrepreneur and I read those remarks by the president, I would be furious. It's a tremendous insult to the true job-creators in America, entrepreneurs.
In the context of a long, somewhat rambling campaign speech that touched on every issue under the sun, it may seem as though I'm over-exaggerating the importance of a minor thing he said. But President Obama isn't a stupid man, or even one who makes off-the-cuff remarks he doesn't really mean. He's a very smart man, and he meant what he said.
When the most important issues for most Americans are economic growth and job creation, I believe it's essential to know exactly where both candidates stand on the importance of entrepreneurs. Yesterday, we learned that President Obama believes that entrepreneurs don't build businesses. Ultimately, they're irrelevant. Take that for what you will." © Principles and Policy, July 14, 2012

I was hugely-pleased, a little stunned at the secrecy, but half-expecting a juicy trove of treasures.
It is called the Center of Military History. It is located 30 minutes outside Washington, D.C., at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. The building itself is very nondescript.
But behind a series of highly alarmed doors and long, cement, camera-laden hallways. It is the highly sophisticated, climate-controlled treasure room where the army keeps its most precious artifacts.
The facility was built for $24 million in 2010. The cavernous warehouse is typically shrouded in total darkness. Motion lights illuminate only the areas in which someone is walking.
If I could get tickets, I'd fork over my first-born child. Oh wait; I don't have one. Heh. I'd go there in a heartbeat.
