The actual reason why was that the Democrats are beholden to the public sector unions for campaign contributions and would screw military veterans every day of the week and twice on Sunday rather than risk pissing off federal bureaucrats.

Speaking of numbers, while 9 million American vets have to make do with 267,000 VA employees – not nearly all of whom are medical professionals – 150 Muslim terrorists at GITMO have 100 doctors and nurses at their beck and call. It begs the question: What sort of people are we that we treat the creeps trying to kill us better than we treat the men and women who risked their lives and lost their limbs trying to defend us?
Recently, I confessed to being sick and tired of having “gate” added to every Washington scandal for no other reason than that Nixon met his Waterloo over the Watergate break-in. But even worse is having “phobic” added as suffixes by those who are perpetually offended.
A phobia, after all, is defined as an unnatural fear. I don't happen to believe that people who object to either sodomy or to same-sex marriages are suffering from a mental disorder. You may feel one way or another about them, but to suggest that they suffer from an unnatural fear of homosexuals is delusional.
That brings us to those accused of being “Islamaphobes”. The fact that all over the world the followers of Muhammad are slaughtering innocent people, stoning to death anyone who converts from Islam to Christianity and attempting through Shariah law to institutionalize the subjugation of women in Europe and even here in America suggests to any sane human being that there is nothing unwarranted about fearing, as well as despising, these barbarians. The crazy people are those, like George Bush and Barack Obama, who insist Islam is a religion of peace when it is clearly a blood-thirsty cult.
With the midterm elections just around the corner, its just about time we began hearing that the GOP needs to have a bigger tent, and not just to accommodate Gov. Christie. It was sheer humbug the first time we heard it, and it hasn't improved with age.

We're told incessantly that we have to reach out to black voters, Hispanic voters and young single women, but when the members of these groups continue voting for the scurrilous likes of Barack Obama, Sheila Jackson Lee, Elijah Cummings, Joe Garcia, Linda Chavez, and can't wait to vote for Hillary Clinton, it is a colossal waste of time and resources trying to out-promise and out-bribe the liberals. That's time and money that can be better spent prodding every registered Republican to vote on Election Day even if (boo-hoo, sniffle, sniffle) their primary favorites fall by the wayside.
John Kerry, who's generally good for a laugh, out-did himself recently while in Mexico. He told a group of environmental simpletons that, thanks to global warming, temperatures in Europe and Vietnam a day earlier had “been unprecedented, breaking every record that's ever been seen.” He went on to mention life-threatening temperatures of 30, 32, 33 and even an unimaginable 34 degrees Celsius. What he apparently didn't know was that those numbers when translated into Fahrenheit are a warm, but not exactly lethal, low- to mid-90s.
In the future, Secretary Kerry would be well-advised to channel either his inner Al Gore or his inner Chicken Little, but never both at the same time.

A Day In The Life
Friday (the 13th; no, I'm not superstitious. The morning came way too early, after a restless Thursday night. 71°F outside, already. T-storms were moving northeast of us, but more were forecast for the day and evening, but Saturday and Sunday would be drier and nicer. I made the usual Fresh-Squeezed OJ and had several mugs of steaming hot, French-Roast, Turkish-Grind Coffee, as well as an English Muffin w/ Peach Preserves. A couple more MS patches and downloads came thru. On Wednesday, there were 19 for Windows, mostly for IE, which is crap and I never use. I needed to get over to my Sister's to okay/adjust the siting of the landscape plants before the crews dug them in, and I had to get to Weis Markets to get some foodstuffs for her and myself, so I needed to leave before 8am. At least the local area flood warnings were gone. I left at 7:45. Shopping done, food delivered and landscape advice given, I was back
Thunder and lightening shook the Condo all afternoon, intermittently, and I could hear the roar of rainfall on the skylights and windows, from the basement, over the streaming Talk Radio programs. By the time I finished and took a break, a *** FLOOD WARNING *** was up for the already water-logged area, on the local weather and news sites. I had some checks to write-out for upcoming bills, sorting and a large amount of filing to do, but quickly it was 5:55pm and time for the usual Mark Levin Show, from 6-9, and afterward, some YouTube videos from my Preferred Subscriptions emails. One I hadn't seen yet: NatGeo "Alaska State Troopers: Extreme Justice". The t-storm had abated and moved northeast. By 12:15am, I was fading fast, closed down, armed the Condo and trundled upstairs to sleep.
I slept-in until 8am on Saturday, and by then, the cool 61°F weather had settled into the area after the past few days' t-storm front had moved-out. While coffee was steeping, I had some OJ, checked the weather and news sites, and checked my "to do" list for the weekend, and next week. Coffee was exceptional. I left at 9:15am to run a couple of errands, and stop by Dad's to help him with his HP lapper. Back home finally by 1:30pm, I unpacked and made Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast w/ Peas, and had some coffee ice cream dessert to top it off. Dad showed-up at 3:30, and we drove to the local garden center to get some Pennisetum setaceum 'Rubrum' for his porch urns, and an Red Astilbe chinesis for a garden replacement plant. He and Becky are coming over for Father's Day Lunch tomorrow, at 12-12:15pm, and I have a nice one planned. Dad left and took the plant material home;

Sunday was another sleep-in morning; a chilly 57°F and sunny, right off the bat, at 7:30. I actually fired-up the furnace to take the chill off the Condo. After some Del Monte® Mandarin Oranges, coffee and a muffin, I checked the usual weather and news sites, to see what blew-up in the world overnight. Get ready for gas prices to rise, if when Baghdad falls. I finished staging all the place settings, dishes, Char-Broil® Patio Grille, cooking equipment and food for today's Father's Day Lunch, with Dad and Becky. Looking at the week ahead's forecast, the 90s are finally arriving on Tuesday and Wednesday, natch, and more afternoon t-storms will be the norm, for the next few weeks. I Windex®ed the front storm door and downstairs windows and sunroom's massive glass panels, until they arrived at 12:30pm. Salad w/ Italian dressing, baked potato with black summer truffles & butter, carmelized onions, brown gravy with mushrooms, 2" thick/10oz filet mignon; only I finished. I packed-up Dad's and Becky's half-meals for them to take home. By 5pm, temps had climbed to 78°F, I closed-up and turned-on the AC. I started watching news reports of Baghdad falling, did a load of lunch dishes in the new dishwasher, a load of laundry and folded it, listened to 3
Up at 8:15 on Monday morning, I made coffee, OJ, turned-on the AC – only 55°F outside – while checking the weather sites and my daily list. I grabbed a shower, left at 9am for 2 quick stops, and went over to Becky's to see how her project was coming along. Coming along, nicely and they'd possibly finish by week's end, weather permitting. Then, over to Dad's to move 2 very heavy urns from the detached garage's lower level to the front porch and garden spots, to hold the red ornamental grasses, after I get the repotted and watered-in. "Something" popped in my left bicep when I lifted the last urn and set it in place up on the front porch, and I was unable to straighten it out all evening, without pain. Dad cut the grass in the areas which had been re-seeded and groundcover-strawed, helping to grind-up the hay so we don't have to rake it up and dispose. By 10:45, it was already 84°F and extremely humid. The ground needed another day to dry-out, but the weather forecast would put temp into the mid-90°Fs Tuesday and close to 100°F on Wednesday. "Real Feel" temps would be 10-15°F higher, making it dangerous for many people. Soaked with sweat, I went home at 11:45am, and got some dry clothes on. For lunch, I made a couple of Bacon Cheddar-Cheeseburgers w/ Fries, a
Crap, did I ever oversleep on Tuesday; woke-up at 6:45am and had to be on the road by 7:30 to make it to the 8am Jeep service appointment. 71°F outside, My cleaning ladies would be in by 8:30am. I gulped down some OJ, skipped coffee and breakfast and left to get coffee-to-go at a local Rutter's Store, and made it to S&D Automotive in York, by 7:50am. I took a book, "Killing Lincoln", along and finished all 62 chapters, by 1:15pm, as the car was finished. 88°F. Replace front left disc brake caliper, engine oil & filter change, tranny oil & filter change, AC Freon-410 charge, tires rotated, and I was finished. The AC is still barely working, and it's like an oven in that car. Next try will be AC cooling condenser, as water evaporator and heater core (required taking the front interior seats, console and dash out and replacing 2 AC/Heater units) were replaced last Spring. Failing all those things working, I'll try the 'redneck AC unit' to combat the 92-95°F heat/humidity. Ha! 92°F and
I got up around 6:30am on Wednesday, went downstairs to start coffee, OJ and Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast w/ Peas for breakfast, and the wall switch rheostat (installed 1992) stopped working. Except for the sink and stove hood lights, the kitchen is dark. I need to get to Home Depot or Lowe's and get a new Lutron®/Leviton® rheostat light switch. Damn, it was already 81°F at 8:30am. I left at 8:45 for the nearby Home Depot hardware/electrical depts to see if any remained. Unable to find an incandescent, non-LED/HED replacement rheostat switch for under $59, I next tried Lowe's but they didn't carry any either. I gave up, and came home to shop online; found one and ordered two. It would be several days until they arrived. I called Dad to see how he was doing, planned to go over tomorrow morning to get his re-potting/gardening work done, stop by Becky's place and see how her landscape job was progressing.
I had some bills to sort, age and some to write-out, and some filing to do. The Rite Aid Pharmacy in Stewartstown called, and 4 of 5 of this month's Rxs were ready for pick-up, so I planned to drive down on either Friday, stop at Freedom Armory to pick-up my replaced CTC Laser Grip for my other Kimber .45cal ACP, and pick-up a large order of Chinese food at Emerald Garden Restaurant, in nearby Shrewsbury. High for the day was 95°F. I listened to
T-storms woke me at 3am, but as they passed thru, I rolled over and went back to sleep until 7am, on Thursday morning. After coffee and OJ, I checked the morning's/tomorrow's "to do" lists, and left for Dad's at 8:30. T-storms were heading this way from the west and it would be another "warm" one. High for the cloudy day was only 78°F, but VERY humid. By 11:30am, Dad and I had all the scheduled projects done, and a couple extra, as t-storms unloaded some downpours. We knocked-off for the day, and I headed home to get a shower and some dry clothes. Not having eaten breakfast, I was hungry and made a Classic BLT and Onion Rings, for lunch. After taking out the garbage to the curb for morning pick-up, I began re-arranging my 'fridge to accommodate some of the Chinese food I'd be bringing back home, after dropping-off Dad's and Becky's orders. I aught part of the Rush show, and since Chris Plante on WMAL (DC) had subs on today and yesterday, I didn't bother with any podcasts. Instead, I watched NatGeoWild's Movie, "Winter is Coming" (44:10) on YT. Great show. Others I watched: "Cesar Millan - Poor Dog" (45:48, and Cat Worshiper (45:57). All heartwarming shows. By 11:30, I was tired and would have a long day on the road and a number of stops to get done. Time to sleep. I armed the place, shut-down and went up to la-la land.
Tomorrow starts a new week here in the "Journal", and so far, I only have a Dr's app't, and a tentative showing of the GC&N Complex, by the new realtor, Bennett-Williams. I'm hoping that the kitchen wall light dimmer switches arrive, so I can get those installed and get the room back to normal, though I'm getting used to the loss of overhead ceiling recessed can lights. It is what it is.
Conundrum.
The definition of the word conundrum is "something that is puzzling or confusing". Here are six conundrums today in the United States of America:
1. America is capitalist and greedy - yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized - yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims - yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government - yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer - yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about - yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it! That pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st century. Makes you wonder who is doing the math.
These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works. And here's another one worth considering...
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What's interesting is the first group "worked for" their money, but the second didn't. Think about it... And last but not least,
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to all illegal aliens?
Am I the only one missing something?

The Middle East is rapidly-collapsing under the subhuman, murderous muslim/islamic riots (muslim Brotherhood) and rule ("arab Spring"), with world crude oil prices projected to hit $200+/bbl, or even higher into the $300-$400 range,
Just Google "survival" and see what comes-up. Damned-near everything you ever wanted to know how to prepare for this for-sure-coming "hellish holocaust", some of it in easy-to-download *.PDF format. Tens-of-thousands of websites are devoted to the topic of "survival". Do the same with "You Tube", and watch the thousands of videos. This is *NOT The Phony Y2K Crappola*; this is for real. I said numerous times that Y2K was a waste of time and money to prepare for, and that came true. I'm reading that "survival stores" are reporting a huge upswing in sales and preparations, and for good reason.

Obama: "Entrepreneurs Don't Build Businesses"
"Last week, President Barack Obama delivered some telling remarks to a fire station full of people in Roanoke, Virginia. I'll save you the trouble of reading the (long and uninspired) speech and provide you with the most interesting part:
"If you've got a business – you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." – President Barack Obama, July 13th, 2012.
It would be easy to respond with something along the lines of, "Somebody else made that happen? Who? Who magically imagined the product or service, started the business, built it up, and created the jobs? Who was it? The tooth fairy?" And to some extent, President Obama's statement is so ridiculous as to merit that sort of quick, flippant response.

However, he's not entirely wrong. This reminds me of an argument that Massachusetts Senate Democratic candidate Elizabeth Warren would probably make. If he's talking about a mid-sized or large business, where an entrepreneur has hired additional employees, then at that point the business's success isn't purely that of its founder.
Employees add value to a business through work and ideas. That's why you hire employees, after all. Steve Jobs didn't invent every last detail of the phones, computers, and tablets to come out of Apple over the last decade. There were engineers working on those products who developed them. So, employees help entrepreneurs to build their business. "Somebody else" did indeed play a part in making that happen.
But what makes the president's remarks so inane is the totality of what he's saying. He's not saying that entrepreneurs and employees work together to build a business. It's not a collaborative effort. It's all thanks to the employees. Usually, I can understand the way the president's mind works on most issues by examining it through a pragmatic, liberal, or progressive framework. This one baffles me.
As I explained, I can see that he has some of a point, but he's still just obviously wrong on the broader point. Sure, the employees help to build the business, but the business itself wouldn't exist without the entrepreneur. So, to say to entrepreneurs and to business owners, "...you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen," is just wrong. It's silly. They did build that by setting the foundation for the business.
Entrepreneurs are almost always the hardest workers in their business. They work a simply insane number of hours to get their idea off the ground. If they succeed (and they face a tremendous risk if they don't), then they'll start to grow and to hire employees to help. Honestly, if I were an entrepreneur and I read those remarks by the president, I would be furious. It's a tremendous insult to the true job-creators in America, entrepreneurs.
In the context of a long, somewhat rambling campaign speech that touched on every issue under the sun, it may seem as though I'm over-exaggerating the importance of a minor thing he said. But President Obama isn't a stupid man, or even one who makes off-the-cuff remarks he doesn't really mean. He's a very smart man, and he meant what he said.
When the most important issues for most Americans are economic growth and job creation, I believe it's essential to know exactly where both candidates stand on the importance of entrepreneurs. It is called the Center of Military History. It is located 30 minutes outside Washington, D.C., at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. The building itself is very nondescript.
But behind a series of highly alarmed doors and long, cement, camera-laden hallways. It is the highly sophisticated, climate-controlled treasure room where the army keeps its most precious artifacts.
The facility was built for $24 million in 2010. The cavernous warehouse is typically shrouded in total darkness. Motion lights illuminate only the areas in which someone is walking.
If I could get tickets, I'd fork over my first-born child. Oh wait; I don't have one. Heh. I'd go there in a heartbeat.
