the man who might wreck the country

saturday, march 6th, 2026

The zeitgeist is a rough beast, hard to ride as it slouches into the unknown. Our country is trying to hang on while a party of goblins vexes and needles the beast from behind, and you cannot make them stop. Sense-making gets to seem impossible.

We don’t have an explanation from Senate Majority Leader John Thune as to why he will not do what is within his power to do: pass election reform, known as the SAVE Act, by changing the filibuster procedure. At midweek Sen. Thune said Republicans were “not unified on pursuing a talking filibuster.” Understand that bringing back a real filibuster, with continuous speech in the well of the Senate, only requires the Majority Leader’s say-so, meaning Mr. Thune is prevaricating, concealing the truth. DemonKKKrats do not believe they have a responsibility to protect American Citizens from illegal criminal immigrant invaders.

Which might be that he does not want to pass election reform. It appears he wants to set up the midterm elections with the now-familiar kit of unverifiable mail-in ballots, millions of non-citizen motor-votes, and dragged-out vote-counting so that Democrats will seize control of the House (if not the Senate) in order to crank-up the impeachment machine again and finally get rid of President Trump. It does not look like anything else, certainly not any kind of cunning game.

What might change that would be an FBI analysis of the 2020 election year ballots, voter rolls, and vote tabulation tapes recently extracted from the Fulton County, Georgia, Elections Hub, leading to indictments. They’ve had this mass of material for a month. There was already plenty of preliminary evidence of fraud from earlier investigations — which is how come U.S. Magistrate Judge Catherine Salinas of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia found probable cause to approve a search warrant for the FBI. They must have an idea by now of what the evidence shows. It’s not that complicated.

There’s no fixed statutory timeline for a referral. The FBI can pass along the matter to the DOJ for prosecution whenever they determine the evidence is sufficient. Referrals are customarily secret, as they occur during ongoing investigations and involve sensitive, non-public information. DOJ policies emphasize confidentiality in pre-charging stages to protect investigations, potential witnesses, sources, and the integrity of any future prosecution. In general, the public learns of an FBI referral only indirectly — through later developments like indictments, or news media reporting via “sources.”

Criminal referrals on the Fulton County case might have already been made, and indictments might be forthcoming. That would have to prompt some kind of attitude adjustment for Senate Majority Leader Thune on behalf of election reform. It could happen at any time. It would at least put Senator Thune between a rock and a hard place. It’s well-understood that at least 80-percent of people polled want the SAVE Act passed.

There is no debating position that reasonably argues against it. You might have noticed that Mayor Mamdani of New York City called for volunteers to shovel snow in the latest blizzard, and that anyone who stepped-up was required to show two types of photo ID to work the job. Yet, Mamdani, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), aligns with the party’s longstanding opposition to voter ID laws, including the SAVE Act. No need to go figure on that. It’s just arrant dishonesty.

The president emphasized clearly why the Democrats are against election reform in this week’s State of the Union speech: because the party can only win elections by cheating, by employing massive systematic fraud. He said it so that everybody tuned-in could hear it, and the Democrats just sat stone-faced on their side of the chamber — and that was only minutes after they refused to stand for the proposition that the government’s main job was to act in the interest of American citizens.

It’s unlikely that the president can alter election procedure himself, through executive order or by declaring some kind of national emergency. Any attempt would be instantly litigated and shut down by the judiciary. The Constitution assigns primary authority over the “times, places and manner” of elections to the states (with only Congress able to alter them by law). Either Senator Thune will do his duty or not. He must have some self-awareness that he risks going down as the greatest villain in our history, the man who wrecked the country. Does anything like personal honor still exist in this land?

A Day In The Life.

Up at 7:30a on Saturday, a windy, cold, 36°F, overcast, sunny morning, forecast to get to 62°, I upped the heat, made coffee, fired-up the Win-7 Pentium HP Desktop to let its 32 million lines of code load, had breakfast, had a couple smokes in the garage and checked the leftover errands list. I scanned the weather -- sleet, freezing rain and light snow coming -- and the rapidly-breaking news, tuned into the "CP Show LIVE" at 9, and relaxed for the morning.

By mid-last week, I had a "gut feeling" that we'd launch on Iran, either Saturday or Sunday night. It's way overdue, and IMO, Iran's military assets should be fully and completely destroyed.

I opened the front and back Larson Doors, on this beautiful 60° day, to get fresh air thru the condo. Last week's snow is almost gone. Nice day. Sherry called and we had a nice chat. I closed the condo before dark, as temps were dropping, watched the evening news reports on the War on Iran, had dinner and tuned into Discovery's "Expedition Files" and then switched back to FNC's coverage of our "Operation Epic Fury" until 1:30a, and bagged it for the night.

March 3rd 2026 Lunar Eclipse

Up at 8a on Sunday, a sunny, windy, 39° morning. I upped the heat, opened a new bag of Columbian Supremo Coffee, and tuned into FNC TV for updates on the Mideast conflict. I also scanned the weather and local news, and the cold and snow are returning in 2 days. Swell.

I got ready for the day, started laundry and did a couple of condo chores. No nap today. By 6p, it was almost dark, I watched the continuing coverage of the Mideast shithole getting it's ass handed to it, and switched to History's "American Pickers" and "History's Greatest Picks" until 1a.. Lights out.

Up at 7:15a on Monday, a partly sunny, windy, cold 22° morning, with snow/ice forecast for the morning.

★★★ WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ★★★

From 2:01am EST, Mar 2 2026 until 1:00pm EST, Mar 3 2026.

• WHAT... Mixed precipitation expected. Total ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch and snow accumulations less than one inch.

• WHERE... A portion of south central Pennsylvania.

• WHEN... From 4 AM to 1 PM EST Tuesday.

• IMPACTS... Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute.

• ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A light glaze of ice is expected late tonight and Tuesday morning, especially on the higher elevations.

• PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

I kept checking and rechecking the regional and local weather radar maps all morning, as the YUGE ice/snow/rain storm was covering 5 states and was moving our way from the west-southwest. I left at 11:45a for my usual Monday 3-stop trip to points south of York. Traffic was heavy, but I made good time, and was back home by 1:15p. After unpacking, I had lunch, pushed the recycle and garbage bins to the curb, had 2 package deliveries on my bench at the front door, and did a couple of bookkeeping items before hitting the LR couch for a snooze.

I made dinner, watched the 6p evening news, and then switched to MT's "Iron Resurrection" and History's "History's Greatest Mysteries" until 1a. Big ice storm is almost here. My cleaning lady is in at 8:30a, so it'll be a busy day, tomorrow.

Up at 0-DARK-THIRTY (6a with alarm), I upped the heat, made coffee and got ready for the day. Ice coated everything as far as the eye can see. Nothing was moving, accidents aplenty on the York County 911 Website and JoAnne emailed mew that she'd be 1+hr late. The DJIA is down 1,134 points, and I don't give a shit. I like a happy ending, even if it's 35yrs too late.

JoAnne arrived at 9:45, and got to work. I stayed out of her way, as usual, and she wrapped up around 12noon. After the last of the Tacos for lunch, watched FNC's continuing coverage of the Iran KickAss, went out for a couple of local errands, and enjoyed the rainy, warmish 56° day. I called Sherry in the late afternoon, watched the evening news, and switched to History's "Curse of Oak Island" until 1a, and unplugged. Eye Dr's app't at 11a, tomorrow morning.

Up at 6a (with the alarm) on Wednesday, a foggy, heavy overcast, rainy, nippy 39° morning, I fired-up the furnace, made coffee, and scanned the news and weather.

The Sciatic Nerve (R/S buttock and leg) and Neuropathy pain (both feet and hands) was terrible this morning, even after taking a Bayer 250mg aspirin and 1 50mg Tramadol, but after some leg kick exercises, the pain subsided around 9. Damn, the absence of pain feels good.

I got ready for the day and left at 10:210 for the 11a Ophthalmologist Dr's app't, in South York. Traffic was light. The 3 exams went well -- except for the dreaded dilation drops -- so I got the "un-dilation drops" and was home by 1p. After lunch, I crawled on to the LR couch, and snoozed for 90+mins. Still blurry after waking-up, i made dinner, watched the evening news, and switched to "Expedition Unknown" until 1a. Lights out.

Up at 9a on Thursday, a rainy, breezy, warmish 51° morning, I upped the heat, made coffee and tunedinto the ongoing "CP Show". I scanned the news and weather, and checked email, as (mostly) usual... BUT... I can receive, but I can't send or reply. SHIT!

My Weis Market (Enola PA) was scheduled for 10-12noon, but it was "runniung late/delayed". I gave it until 1p, but had to leave to get some errands done, and no way of contacting them. Crap. C'mon 'porch pirates" -- free stuff!

Screw that crap; they can't find a driver to deliver orders in his part of York County. I left at 12:45p for Dallartown, and with so much hevy traffic, was back by 2p. I unloaded, had lunch, and got an email from Weis/Amazon had cancelled my grocery order. Natch. The rain continued; glad it wasn't snow. I had lunch, scanned the weather and news, took a 2hr nap on the LR couch, and as temps dropped toward sunset, closed the condo. I wqatched the news, switched to History's "Greatest Mysteries" and "Ancient Aliens", and TWC's "Weather Gone Viral" until 1a, and unplugged.

Remember to set your clocks ahead Saturday evening by 1 hour, as DST (Daylight Savings Time) messes with us again. Phew

Up at 8a on Friday, another cloudy, rainy, warmish 41° morning, I fired-up the furnace, made coffee, had a couple smokes in the cool garage, and scanned the news and weather. I got my eye surgery consult exam set-up for May 13th, and packages were arriving on the front porch, instad of being stuffed into the 5"x5" community mailbox pigeon coop structure. I called Sis to see how she was doing and get caught-up on her life. I skipped breakfast and lunch, had a banana, and got ready for the day. By 2:30, I was tired from doing a couple projects in the garage, so I hit the LR couch for a short nap.

With construction/rehab going on in the next door condo unit, all day hammering, sawing etc, there was a snowball's chance in hell that I'd get any nap time. I had other things to do, and 5p came quickly. I watched the news, and switched to Discovery's "Gold Rush", History's "The Unexplained", and back to "Gold Rush: Mine Rescue", until 12:30a. Lights out.

Tomorrow starts a new week, here in the "Journal", and I have another mid-week Drs app't. Sherry's still got an "over-flowing Family plate", and who knows when it'll get itself resolved. We keep in touch, jowever.

The AWFLs walk among us.

As well documented by now, affluent white female urban liberals exhibit AWFUL behavior. So awful that the legacy media is desperately defending them, lest they lose control of their woke narrative. Clearly, the accurate acronym strikes a sensitive nerve. With apologies to Shakespeare aficionados, "the [MSM] doth protest too much, methinks." Unfortunately, their awful Dem deportment is poised to become downright atrocious. Few can stand preachy Dem females, but with more control over the purse strings their political pontifications will grate even more.

Most of today’s billionaire “policy mistakes” are self-made. Many are brilliant, visionary businessmen and entrepreneurs who have created more societal wealth (new industries, products, markets, jobs, tax revenues…) than they have consumed. That is about to change: in what is described as a great wealth transfer, many trillions of dollars will be passed down to heirs, with women benefitting substantially.

That is disconcerting because those who don’t “earn” their money tend to be more frivolous in its use. Worse still, is that such wealth transfer will enable the illiberal women, in particular, to proselytize an imagined socialist utopia. Their inherited wealth will enable them to sanctimoniously spout feel-good principles of equality, without being subjected to the harsh realities of daily life. Everyone else will be made equally poor; indeed, rich liberal women are a stalwart supporter base for Mamdani. How is that working out?

The self-made billionaires are always striving; rather than retire in luxury, many continue to work harder than most of us. Much of their compensation is performance-based, rather than strict salary. If, for example, Elon Musk ever does become a trillionaire, it will be because he met lofty performance metrics (related to SpaceX, Starlink satellites and mobile communications, autonomous taxis, humanoid robots dubbed “Optimus,” more cars, etc.) that benefit society, and shareholders of the public companies, disproportionally more.

Nonetheless, leftists just love the concept of transferring wealth, especially when it will go to non-productive female heirs. This piece from the Washington Examiner emphasizes that “AWFLs are not the boss of us.” Thank God for that. Even James Carville admits that they are annoying and repulsive, driving what remains of centrists away.

Few, perhaps excepting their own ilk, can stand preachy Dem females, but with more control over the purse strings their political pontifications will grate even more. Perhaps their sugar daddies were too busy to teach them civility (no spitting and screaming, little lady) and discipline them properly, but the AWFUL specter of a wealth transfer to liberal women is truly problematic.
