Temps have dropped into the upper-20s at night, and we're now getting some pretty regular frost, despite day temps in the lower and mid-40s. The storms and fierce winds of the past few days, have denuded many trees of their colorful leaves, but the fall foliage is still quite beautiful.

There are still several nice-sized ($10-15k) landscape jobs coming in, even at this late date. This is the longest Fall I can remember in the past 15 years. Sunday was the last day of the once-a-year 25% Off Sale, and business was brisk, all weekend. We've got lots of just-pyrchased trees to get installed for customers in the coming weeks, containerized nursery stock to get put away for Winter storage, and now a few more landscape jobs. I just hope the weather will hold for a while, and gives us a chance to get it all done.

Despite record-low world oil prices, I'm not seeing anymore downward movement in prices at the pump. Unleaded Regular is still at $2.09/gal, Unleaded Plus at $2.19/gal, and Unleaded Premium at $2.39/gal. No complaints, except that Diesel Fuel is still at $2.89/gal. That sucks, as I have a lot of vehicles and equipment which use diesel fuel. Oh, well.

On Wednesday, the York (PA) area caught the tail-end of a major weather front and line of storms, which spawned tornadoes just to the west and south. Fortunately, we were spared the damage with the ¾" of rain we got. Very cold temps followed and it dropped into the 20s during the evening, after being in the upper-60s all day. Daytime temps are now in the lower-40s; looks like it's going to stay that way for a long time. Freaky weather. Indian Summer is over.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I love this contemporary architecture. I'm looking for property here in Southern York County, with a spectacular view, to build one of those within the next 2-3 years. Some ads look a lot better without the verbal clutter, while other images, like these highway signs, are rendered rather pointless. Still others, like the golden arches, look almost classy without textual clues. But not all are improved by the absence of numbers and nouns. After all, what good would a gas station sign be without the astronomical prices?
