what in God's Name are we doing in this f•cked-up country, when hundreds-of-thousands-of America's Finest (US Military) are "giving their all", in Iraq and Afghanistan and other turd-world hellhole places around this f•cked-up world, and we're about to put a subhuman socialist, commie, Marxist, racist, terrorist-supporter, bigot, subhuman-piece-of-shit-dirtbag, liar into The White House's Oval Office, as President and CIC (Commander-In-Chief)? B. Hussein Obama-Osama-Lama-Ding-Dong (Nigga-IL) is truly garbage, shit, trash, junk, crap, filth, and his "many socialist economic plans (aka disastrous recipes) for all-America", simply promise to bankrupt almost all small businesses, individuals just doing well, couples making a nice living, and all medium/large corporations making enough to hire many thousands of new employees, and do enough R&D to open new fields of endeavor and discovery. Obama-Osama is a hard-left Marxist, a socialist, an income-redistributor, will take your and my profits away, and give them to the 45% of Americans, who pay no taxes because they are at or below the so-called "poverty-level", and are drains on society, aka "welfare maggots, parasites and deadbeats". I'll also be paying for their health care, as you will. And for all the illegal aliens' health care, food stamps and social security, too.
The US Government doesn't owe its Citizens anything, except to stay out of their way and let them make the best living we're each capable of making, pursue the fruits of Liberty and be as happy as we are able to be. Why do you think there have been *** NO CONGRESSIONAL HEARINGS*** on this whole financial crisis? Think about it. After getting most all of my "errands" completed, even the ones from the past 2-3 Thursdays, I was feeling happy. It's not often that I do that these days, what with all the pervasive "doom-and-gloom" permeating the social fabric of the York (PA) area. But I did, today. My Sister, Becky, is due in-town and at the GC&N Complex, on Saturday. She'll spend most of her time with Mom and her doctors' appointments, leading to possible back surgery, at her precarious age of 85. There's not much to do at the GC&N, until we get some serious frosts, and leaves begin dropping on the shrubs etc, so that we can put them away safely, without any latent disease or insect infestation problems, for the coming season. So Becky's *first and only priority is Mom*, as it should be.
One day-off a week, is never enough, IMO, and a simple Thursday isn't even a day-off. I can't even begin to tell you how f•cking sick and tired I am of working 7 days-a-week, for 16 years, and then "cutting back to only 6 days-a-week"! Normal people don't do this shit crap! And small business owners like me, are expected/required/demanded to do this shit crap? Where is it written that "we" have to work 6 and 7 days a week? Show me the f•cking scripture/passage/law/statute where it says that! Where is it written that "we" can't have a normal life! WHERE??? (((SIGH))) Personally, I'd (almost, but not quite) rather work for someone else, and get the 2 days-off a week, than to own my own business, and work the 6-7 days a week! Any further questions, here? I'm sick of the 50-60-70-80hrs a week, personally. It's just NOT WORTH IT, dammit. Not. Worth. It. By any and all measures. ***Wow***, I feel soooo much better now. Nevermind what I said. In a mere 2 days, gas prices at the pumps have dropped another 16¢gal. (And as usual, I filled-up the day before they dropped, at the old $2.95/gal rate; figures. Who knew? Unleaded Regular (87oct) is now at $2.79/gal, Unleaded Premium (89oct) is at $2.89/gal, and Unleaded Super Premium (92oct) is at $3.09/gal. I'm "smiling out loud", at this constant price dropping, but I wonder how long it'll be before "something explodes" in the ME — either "accidentally" or "on-purpose" — and the price rockets back-up? There are numerous turd-world, oil-producing countries around the world — the muslim-islamist-pigshit hole of Iran being one; Russia being just one of the notable others — which could soon be in an economic meltdown, if the price of crude drops too much below $100/bbl, and it's well-below that now. Look for "something to happen", to artificially re-inflate the prices, very soon. "Black helicopter conspiracy theorist"? Hardly; more of a realist, actually. Mark these words.
Saturday and Sunday were both slow-to-moderately-slow (heh!) traffic, and I finally got caught-up on a pile of inconsequential & niggling paperwork, which has been lingering around my desk, for months. Our last two Workshops are finished for the 2008 Season, and the turnout was abysmal (1 of 9 people showed-up) — the Fall is absolutely the wrong time to plan and execute Workshops — and I won't do that again. I have a nice list of Spring 2009 Workshops, which I'm working-on, and ready-to-go, which I'm confident will fill-up and be well-attended, after the long, SAD Winter months. As I said, Fall was like "catching a falling knife", in comparison to the Spring Workshops.
No, the "Unending Drought From Hell", hasn't ended, despite what the local TV-weathermen/women would tell you; it's still in-place, quite mobile and definitely ongoing. And the worst of it is moving up from the Southeast to the Northeast, or so they say. I don't doubt it, as I still see the "effects" of it, up here, although the worst of the drought hasn't reached us, yet. There are just too many other diseases and insect infestations, which I notice on a more frequent, daily basis. Like what? Like Sudden Oak Death Disease (Phytophthora ramorum), has rapidly-moved from the Left Coast to us now, and I'm seeing 70-130ft, 3-4½ft caliper Pin/White/Sawtooth etc Oaks, defoliating in July and August, and now being "dropped" by tree service companies, and the wood burned in commercial incinerators, to avoid spreading the virulent pathogens, during storage and as home wood-burning stoves spew the smoke and unburned, remaining pathogens back into the air to spread.

It's now dark when I leave for work at 6:50am, and getting darker earlier, as Winter quickly approaches. I think we have an "early Winter" coming this year, but that's another story. On Monday, it was 26°F when I got up at 6am, to feed the cats, logon to check the world's news and local weather, and leave for work before 7. The frost was so thick and heavy, it looked like it'd snowed, overnight. I hate driving to work in the dark, and in 4-5 weeks, it'll be dark when I drive home in the afternoon. I should be used to it by now, after doing this for the past 18 years, but I'm not. No, I've never been affected by SAD, in my 58 years, but I know an increasing number of folks, who are. Their experiments with lights, light bulbs etc, is daunting to me, but it seems to work for them, and I'm glad that it does. Depression at anytime, especially if it is caused by a season of the year, is saddening (no pun intended) for them, their families and friends.
Gas at the pumps, has dropped another 20¢/gal on Wednesday. Unleaded Regular (87oct) is now at $2.59/gal, Unleaded Premium (89oct) is at $2.69/gal, and Unleaded Super Premium (92oct) is at $2.89/gal. No complaints! With daytime temps in the upper-50s, and nighttime temps in the upper-30s, the trees are quickly-changing, especially after Monday morning's heavy frost. No complaints there, either.
Thursday was my day-off, and I stayed-up "later-than-usual" on Wednesday night, to clean my Kimber 1911 "Eclipse Target II" .45cal ACP, do a few loads of laundry, clean-up the cat litter boxes in the basement, and work on about 9-10 corporate website pages, which needed updating/complete revising. I have lists, which have their own sub-lists, and are based upon other sub-sub-lists, which need other coordinating lists to accommodate them, after the other completed subordinate semi-sub-lists, fulfill the previously-listed sub-lists, which have still other tangential non-sub-partial lists, tied-to them, for one reason or another. (sigh) After 15-20mins of this shit crappola, I'm ready to start "mainlining Jell-O" (or something), at 8:45am. (Just kidding, but it is way beyond *daunting*!)
Anyway, I slept-in until 5am, with a very brisk 30°F outside, got up and fed the cats, made a fried egg sandwich, and went back to sleep, until 10am. I had an 11:15am "lunch mtg" with Lee, at the same Deli Italiano we'd been to last Thursday, and had a miserable experience at, due to my/our inexperience with the place; now, I was "girded with the knowledge" of how to handle the ordering: either show-up and order at 11:15am, or wait until 1:30pm, after their "hammering lunch crowd" of 30-50 was over-and-done-with. Going in there at "traditional lunchtime", to eat at 12 noon, was definitely out-of-the-question. Anything in-between was culinary suicide, IMO. Ha! I got *2* of the Triple Decker Reuben; one for me and two for Dad/Becky/Mom, for the next day's fare. Sure-as-bird shit-on-a-fencepost, the very same 30-35 "Wal-Mart/Sams' Club "Management" crowd, poured-in at 12:07pm, right-on-schedule, as they did last week — the most bizarre, weird, gangly, downright-ugly, stooopid freakazoids— came in to order-up their lunches. I watched them from our table (they're collectively like the bar scene in "Star Wars") and listened (to their demented 'banter'). Gaaawd; it was f•cking awful. I don't know how the lady owner and her male partner take that pathetic "customer line-up", day-after-day-after-day-after-day. I guess the money's good. We left around 12:30. It was a great experience, this time. I'll be going back to work my way through their wonderful menu!
After lunch, I went food shopping at a local WEIS Market, and then stopped by the Eastern Farmer's Market, just to see what was available, this late into the season. Not much, except apples, Fall squash, neither of which I needed. The brussel sprouts weren't ready yet, as they needed more frost to sweeten them up. I'll be back later for those delicious morsels. Always better to go food shopping on a full stomach, than an empty one. My bill is usually 30% lower, on a full stomach; "impulse purchases" are cut to zero.
After getting home, unloading the groceries and putting everything away, I needed a short nap, so I lit the gas fireplace and curled-up on the couch with my two cats, for >2hrs. I had the condo's windows opened-up to air the place out, and the fresh, crisp Fall air smelled good. With a high of only 51°F, it was downright "nippy" outside and the fire felt good, as did the snuggling, purring cats. Life is good.

Are you fucking kidding me? Only assholes, morons, idiots and cretins would do something as stupid as that. But the crappy/shitty NY Giants are banking on it, to pay for their new $1.3 BILLION stadium, already 90% funded by NY-NJ Taxpayers' dollars in bullshit bond referendums, anyway. So-called "professional sports" have gotten way out of control, IMO, and if people would just "walk away from it all", for 1-2 seasons, and let the sport collapse under its own weight of grossly-excessive salaries etc, then reality would set back-in, and it'd become more affordable and down-to-earth, once again, as it was back in the 50s and 60s. The is no player, anywhere, worth the kinds of megabuck contract $10-35 MILLION/ seasons; NONE!
