riot inc = funding far-left unrest

friday, october 24th, 2024

seamus Bruner, VP of Research for the Government Accountability Institute (GAI), is just back from a White House panel last week where independent journalists who have covered Antifa’s activities explained their findings for several Cabinet secretaries and President Donald Trump himself, a surprise attendee.

[FULL TITLE: "Riot Inc. — The Hidden Networks Fueling Far-Left Unrest".]

Antifa rioters continue to plague American cities, but who pays for them?

GAI’s crack team of researchers has already uncovered more than $100 million of taxpayer money fed into the protest industrial complex. Bruner shared GAI’s research with the president and the cabinet secretaries tracing the money that enables the rioting by Antifa and its allied groups. Trump was greatly impressed, interrupting Bruner’s presentation to make sure the names of the funding sources GAI has uncovered were shared with Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel.

“Well, it’s the taxpayer funding that flows through the funding networks like the Soros funding network, Arabella funding network, Rockefeller and Tides funding networks,” Bruner tells colleagues Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers on the most recent Drill Down podcast. “Over a hundred million dollars that we’ve found from taxpayer grants have gone to these entities.”

This funding is usually done indirectly and goes to many organizations for ostensibly legitimate purposes. But money is fungible, and funds given to a group for one program may very often be diverted to another.

“Plus, Antifa is not the only problem here. It’s what we have called Riot Inc.,” Bruner explains. “There’s a whole bunch of other enablers of criminality — property destruction and people bailing [rioters] out and getting them back onto the streets,” Bruner tells Schweizer and Eggers.

He adds, echoing other White House panelists at last week’s event, “You see people who’ve been arrested are back out protesting the next day and going from city to city. They’re being transported.”

“This whole ecosystem of unrest — it’s somebody’s job,” Bruner says.

Trump has named Antifa a domestic and international terrorist organization, noting the active presence of Antifa “black bloc” operatives seen involved in rioting in cities like Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Minneapolis.

Their activities range even wider. GAI just reported on the big money donors that funded the riots in Atlanta at the construction site for a police training facility in 2023. “Stop Cop City” rioters launched military-style assaults on the site. GAI’s report reveals that the protests were bankrolled by a shadowy network of left-wing billionaires and partisan nonprofits.

The organizers of the Stop Cop City protests were Network for Strong Communities Inc., Community Movement Builders, and the Climate Justice Alliance. These groups worked together on raising money, organizing demonstrations, coordinating bail funds, and providing supplies to protesters on the ground, GAI’s report reveals.

Funding networks such as these have caught the eye of President Trump, who recently hinted at a possible federal investigation into far left megadonor, George Soros. The administration is even considering going after some of these groups using the anti-racketeering statutes known as RICO.

“Nobody here at this table is opposed to people wanting to protest and express their First Amendment rights, but two things you mentioned that I think are key and were so devastating in the research you presented,” Schweizer says.

“Number one, the funding of these protests. Why are taxpayers actually funding organizations that are protesting? If you want to protest, do it on your own dime and your own time,” Schweizer says. “But the second part of it is the violence. It’s not a crime to protest — we welcome protests — but it’s the violence that often accompanies it.”

Bruner responds, adding that foreign-based funders are involved as well. Neville Roy Singham, an American billionaire and expatriate now living in China and friendly with its communist regime, started with the Black Lives Matter riots. “He was backing the groups that were organizing the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, where they were summoning self-driving Waymo cars, only to torch them on fire.” Those groups include the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) and Freedom Road Socialist Organization.

GAI’s research team, under Bruner’s direction, continues to follow the money trails and he reveals that thy have already uncovered an additional $10 million in taxpayer funds that have flowed to groups who have been tied to violent protests.

A Day In The Life.

Up at 7:30a on Friday, a cold 33°F, with lots of frost, I made coffee, scanned the weather and news, and tuned into the last hour of the "CS Show LIVE". Coffee was great, and I got ready for the day. I had the heat on for a while, at 75°, to take the chill off the condo. I tuned into the "CP Show LIVE", re-scanned the news and weather, and wait for sunrise.

I got the F1 US Grand Prix (Sunday 3p race in Austin, TX) Thread on FR, posted yesterday afternoon, and was getting a few comments, so I relaxed all morning, and got a call from Sherry that she'd be here around 1p, or so. I had a quick lunch, and she was here. We had 4+ nice hours together, and Sherry left before it got dark. I started the dishwasher, and when I went back into the kitchen to get a sweet tea, there was a pond on the kitchen floor, with water pouring out of the front of the machine. I shut it down, found that it had overflowed, and I'd need some tools -- which I don't have -- to take the filter out to clear it. I called my friend and all-around expert handyman, Chad, who'd installed a new garbage disposal for me, a few days earlier, and he stopped by in his work truck, with all equipment aboard. Turns out, the wastewater line was clogged with a piece of debris, he cleared that, reinstalled the new disposal, and the problem disappeared. I cleaned-up the water, on the vinyl plank floor, without any damage.

After dinner, I watched the rest of the evening news, switched to History's "The unXplained" and TWC's "Weather Gone Viral" until 12:30a, and unplugged. Busy day tomorrow.

Up at 8:30a on Saturday, a cloudy but sunny, breezy, cool 53° morning, forecast to reach 72°, I made the last of the Kenya AA Coffee, opened a new bag of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee for the next carafe, scanned the weather and news, and checked the day's to-do list. My shipment of 8 new bags of coffee arrived via USPS, and I unpacked and stored them in one of the 'fridge crisper drawers. I lounged around for most of the morning, the Weis Markets (Leola PA) delivery came at 12:30p, and I got ready for the day. By 2p, I was on the way to the local Weis Pharmacy & Market, got the waiting Rxs and did a bit of food shopping, and was back by 3:15.

I spent some time on the back patio, listening to my Surround Sound System on my venerable HP Desktop, and then hit the LR couch for 90mins. Later, I had dinner, watched the news on NEWSMAX-CATV, and switched to some new season episodes of Discovery's "Expedition Unknown". Nodding-off around midnight, I unplugged.

Up at 8:30a on Sunday, a mostly cloudy, warmer 56° morning, I made coffee, fired-up the furnace, and scanned the weather and news. Heavy t-storms and rain coming tonite. I went thru my "S-S-S Routine", as I do 21-23x each week, got ready for the day, started the first of 2 loads of laundry, had lunch and did some minor condo chores. Recycle bin and garbage bag went out and it was delightful to spend some time on the back patio, with front and rear screen/storm doors letting-in fresh air, and listening to the computer's v5.1 Surround Sound music system, playing Vivaldi's Classic "Four Seasons".

I called Sherry, who was with a very sick friend, and quickly terminated the call; she called me back later. After dinner, I watched NEWSMAX for the latest, switched to NBC (Nothing But Crap) TV for the night, but truncated the TV, and worked on a growing pile of paperwork on my desk. I got thru a lot of it, and will finish it up, maybe tomorrow. By 11:30, the few TV programs I was watching, got boring, so I quit for the night. Lights out.

Up at 8a on Monday, a sunny, very windy, nippy 51° morning, still wet from yesterday's t-storms, I made coffee, had a couple smokes in the now-open garage, and tuned into the "CP Show LIVE". I checked email, and got one from Sis letting me know tHat I had to p/u her at 5:15 AM (!!!) on Wednesday morning, to get her to Apple Hill Medical Center for a 6am procedure, which will last until 9-10am, and then to Recovery ward. YIKES! No rest for me, on Tuesday night. Sucks to be me.

I worked finishing-up the remainder of the paperwork and mail, tried to take a nap but couldn't, made a ½ carafe of fresh coffee, had dinner and watched the evening news. I switched to History's "Ancient Aliens" and TWC's "Weather Gone Viral", until 1a, and bagged it for the night.

Up at 9:30a on Tuesday, a bright, sunny, breezy, cool 51° morning, I made coffee, tuned into the ongoing "CP Show LIVE", and got some financial brokerage documents signed and ready to go FEDEX's desk at a nearby Walgreen's. A truly beautiful day, and the temps change tonite. I had an Onion Bagel w/ Philly Cream Cheese for breakfast, ass I do 1-2x/week, got the FEDEX package mailer ready, and left at 1p for the drop-off point. Back home by mid-afternoon, I took a 2hr nap, woke to leftover morning coffee and the evening news.

The Raymour & Flannigan Furniture Store called, and my new office chair replacement is in, and will be delivered Thursday morning. Nice. After lunch, I enjoyed the weather outside on my back patio, grabbed a 2hr nap, watched thew evening news, then switched to History's "unXplained Mysteries" and MotorTrend's "Iron Resurrection", and bagged it at 10p. 3a is going to come early.

Up at 3a -- 0-DARK-THIRTY -- with the alarm, I got ready for the day, finished the last of yesterday afternoon's coffee, made a new carafe, scanned the news and weather, and left at 4:45a for Sis' condo, north of York. It was e3xceptionally dark, as there was no moon. I don't like driving after dark, and there are all kinds of roads and freeways ahead for these two round-trips (each 23 miles). After dropping her off at Apple Hill Medical Center's Building G, I drove home, and hit the LR couch for a 3hr nap, until they called for me to pick her up. I got her safely home around 10:30a, headed home, had some breakfast to crash, and hit the LR couch until around 1p.

By 2p, I and my day were wrecked, so I went back to the LR couch. I'd nap for 1-2hrs, get up and get something to eat, crash and go back to the couch. By 5p, I was feeling better, called Sherry when I was out on the patio, having a smoke, and not really enjoying the cold and wind. Meanwhile, we as a Nation, just passed $38 TRILLION in debt. Swell. I began using the empty garage, since it was sheltered from the wind, and the Jeep parked outside didn't mind. Heh. After missing the evening news, I made dinner, watched Discovery's "Expedition X" and a 2hr special of "Ghost Adventures: Poltergeist", until midnight. Lights out.

Awake at 4a and up at 4:30a on Thursday, at 0-DARK-THIRTY, once again -- 48°, and forecast to only get to 59°. Layer up time. Winter will be here all too soon. Truth be told: I like thunderstorms and heavy rain, and snow and blizzards. I was called over the weekend by the furniture store, to expect delivery of my new plush office chair, today. So, I'll wait for it... F*cking hells bells! I called the furniture store, to check on a delivery time, and THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF ME GETTING A CALL, AS THE OFFICE DESK CHAIR IS STILL ON BACKORDER!! Shit! And the unsolicited Medicare calls are coming in 4-5/hour!! I got *SPOOFED* BY SOMEONE.

After a nice stack of French Toast for lunch, I turned-off the phone, and took a nap.

Waking around 3p, just before Weis Pharmacy called with 2 much-needed Rxs I'd phoned-in this morning, I left at 3p in heavy traffic, and got a few other things while I was in the store. Back home, I put stuff away, loaded-up on the rest of the morning's Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, and attacked the last pile of mail on my desk. After calling Sherry, I watched the 6p evening news on FNC, had dinner and switched to History's "Ancient Aliens" and Discovery's "Caught". Still tired from the past 2 days of getting-up too early, I bagged it for the night at 11p.

Tomorrow starts a new week, here in the "Journal", and I have a Dr's app't, the usual condo cleaning routine with JoAnne, and a change of waste/recycle company services -- bins and day of the week -- and with temps dropping into the mid/upper-50s, the leaves should be changing more quickly. It'll be quite a colorful show in the coming weeks.

Insurrection Anyone?

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 18, you might have heard, is this year’s culminating “No Kings” protest demo all over the land. We’ve been to a couple of these curious spectacles since springtime here in the Hudson River Valley, in the next town over. The crowd there was just about entirely made up of aging Boomers, joyfully re-living the halcyon days of the Vietnam protests. It was kind of like a street production of the old Broadway hit Hair, only with a cast of 75-year-olds. Let the sun shine in! But this rural, small-town corner of America is overwhelmingly geriatric. There is next to nothing for young people to do around here, so they flee at the earliest opportunity. The catch is: turns out that opportunity is rather scarce elsewhere, too. The perennial malcontents and losers will always gravitate to the nearest shiny penny.

For sure, many of these hippie elders have children, even grandchildren now, who are exactly those who are not thriving in the places they have fled to. Deep down, they don’t really know who to blame. Something has gone wrong in this country. But their placards said “Resist.” Resist what? We asked. Trump, of course. Trump, Trump, Trump, we go a’marchin’. He’s Stealing our democracy! Meaning: Trump is the one responsible for our country’s decades-long descent into economic failure, political animus, and social degeneracy. You had to wonder who is paying them to yell an empty slogan that Nancy Pelosi has repeated a million times. We are going to find out.

Tomorrow’s “No Kings” action is apt to be a bit livelier in the crisp fall weather, at least in the cities where the under-employed, debt-oppressed, hormonally-driven younger gen folk gravitate into organized cadres more prone to physically acting-out their discontents — groups like Antifa. The street action lately in places like Portland, Oregon, Chicago, and Los Angeles has gotten quite a bit rowdier since last spring.

Positions have hardened, largely because the Democratic Party is going extinct. As that occurs, its tactics wax more desperate, tending more towards riots and violence. A lot of the recent violence is in service to the project of rescuing illegal immigrants from deportation. Democratic Party leaders such as LA Mayor Karen Bass say the protesters are defending “the community.”

Community is a magic word in the argot of The Resistance. Community is a giant, warm, welcoming amoeba that absorbs all comers into its gelatinous folds, conferring solidarity and safety from outside threats such as the US immigration laws. Of course, the reason that the Democrats are so desperate to rescue illegal immigrants is that millions were allowed to enter the country on-purpose by “Joe Biden” in order to provide a gigantic legion of fresh voters inclined to elect Democrats, so the party won’t go extinct. Thus, expelling them, as the professors might say, is problematic.

Flooding the land with illegal immigrants for four years was a deliberate program, then. It was melded with such devices as the motor-voter process that automatically registers to vote anyone who applies for a driver’s license. All a state had to do was declare that anyone, citizen or not, is eligible for the driver’s license. . . and, cazart. . . newly-minted voters by the millions! It was so arrantly in-your-face that you have to wonder why nobody has moved to stop it.

But they didn’t. Not even the hated Trump, at least not yet. But we have reason to hope that motor-voter and the other devices for rigging elections can be disassembled before the 2026 midterms. Surely the mail-in ballot has lost its justification — if it even ever had any — now that the Covid op is bygone. How can any state justify not requiring voter ID based on proof of citizenship at registration? It’s a sign of how generally psychotic — or nefariously careless —our culture has become that there should be any question about proof of citizenship.

You might have heard the good news that the Dominion Voting Machine company was sold last month to Liberty Vote, a Missouri-based company. Dominion machines had been used in twenty-eight states, including states with the sketchiest election results: Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin. Dominion was previously owned and based in Canada, a country lately captured by crypto-Marxists in thrall to European banking interests. The Dominion machines have long been accused of containing modems enabling connection to the Internet, and thus to hacking. Plus, they’d contained lines of Chinese software. The new owner promises major changes in the way that votes are tabulated.

Don’t be surprised if tomorrow’s “No Kings” demo descends into violence, arson, and looting. The Democratic Party needs this to happen so it can provoke the president to invoke the Insurrection Act, so they can label him “Hitler” again. It is another absolutely in-your-face move. Mr. Trump has discussed the possibility of having to invoke the act. Such a dynamic course of events will backfire badly on the desperate Democrats. More than half the country has had enough of Woke Marxist roguery. They will probably be glad to see extraordinary measures used to stop it, and to override the rogue judiciary that lets it loose on the nation.

It can’t be hard at all to discover who has been paying for this Resistance uprising that includes the “No Kings” demos. It is relatively easy to track the money trails from one bank to another, or many banks to many others, and to see which NGOs are sending all the dough. . . and then who among the operational units are receiving it. It is all going to be shut down. People will be charged and indicted, perhaps even mayors and governors. The charges will be serious. Stand by to see how all this unspools tomorrow.

No Kings, Just Chaos.

They screamed for peace. They marched for “Free Palestine.” They rioted for a ceasefire. And now that it is here, with all hostages released, guns silent, and a peace deal in place, they have simply redirected their rage.

The same mobs who claimed to want peace are now attacking ICE facilities. Their fury never ends because it was never about compassion or justice. It was about chaos. When one outrage runs dry, they move on to the next target.

How many Democrats pissed-off Leftist morons does it take to shut down much of the US Government?

The No Kings protests are just the latest performance. A movement pretending to fight tyranny while embodying the very lawlessness that destroys nations from within.

If they truly cared about deportations, they would have filled the streets when Barack Obama deported over three million people, or when Bill Clinton’s administration built the detention system they now pretend to despise. But back then? Silence. No protests. No riots. Just selective outrage.

Now, suddenly, enforcing immigration law is “fascism.” Please.

If the United States were truly being ruled by a king, none of this chaos would even be possible. Kings do not negotiate peace deals. Kings do not end wars. Kings wage wars to expand their power while leaders end them to preserve peace. Kings do not tolerate activists blocking highways and vandalizing federal buildings.

Over the past year, U.S. diplomacy has helped end or ease tensions in multiple regions: between Israel and Iran and now Palestine, Yemen and Houthi rebels, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Rwanda and the DRC, and others. The pattern is clear. The United States intervenes to stop bloodshed, negotiates a ceasefire, and then steps back to let nations stabilize on their own terms.

That is the opposite of monarchy. A monarch dictates outcomes and consolidates control. A constitutional leader operates within limits, guided by law, diplomacy, and the belief that peace through strength is preferable to conquest through power.

After the footage of Israeli hostages returning home this morning, the contrast could not be more clear.

In Jerusalem, the Israeli parliament stood and applauded the American president who brokered their release and helped bring the ceasefire to life.

Across the ocean, progressives and Democrats are preparing to march in the streets under the banner of “No Kings” while the U.S. government remains shut down.

One side celebrates peace, life, and freedom restored. The other organizes outrage against the very leadership that made it possible. It is a perfect snapshot of where we are as a nation, divided not simply by policy, but by principle.

But here is the deeper truth no one wants to say out loud:

Our nation is drifting because we have drifted from the moral foundation that once anchored us.

John Adams warned, “our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

The Founding Fathers understood something modern activists cannot. Freedom without virtue collapses into disorder. The Constitution is not self-sustaining. It requires a people grounded in faith, discipline, and personal responsibility to make it work.

It was Christian faith that built this country. That same faith continues to drive efforts around the world toward mercy, peace, and the defense of the innocent. Because real freedom does not come from mobs or movements. It comes from God.

A moral people seeks peace and justice through faith.

An immoral one burns cities in the name of freedom.

We are watching the difference play out in real time.
